Skyward Sword review thread [Newest Reviews - Cubed3 10/10, GC: A, AusGamers: 7/10]

I will be online answering everyone's questions (using spoiler tags if need be) for about an hour after the review goes live, if anyone cares.

Following reviews is one of the most exciting things besides playing the games and following the news.

Who else here is hoping that the SS tops Oot on Gamerankings for at least a day just like Mario Galaxy did?

Ah, so it's not so low a score that you'll need to run and hide from death threats.
Good sign.

Someone guess what I'm going to give it! = P

Who gives a shit, G4 isn't on metacritic.

Seriously though, I hope you gave it like a 2 because I like Adam Sessler's indignant shit-game voice. Looking forward to reading it whatever score you give it.

As for other reviewers:
1up: A-
Gamespot:9.5
IGN: 10
Eurogamer: 9
Gametrailers: 9.4
Giant Bomb: 4/5
Wired: 9
Gamepro: 5/5

I have special access to Feep's review he gave it 1.5/5 he said it is the worst of the console Zelda games and nobody should buy it.

Sorry guys.

Honestly, I told my friend this game would get no to next to no 8s.

However, now I think it's inevitable to get one or a few.

BUT...

Any chance this gets a 7 something from anyone?????

I would love to see how he explains it being worse then the CDi Games. It would be so amazing if that happened.

Sorry guys.

Worse than Wind Waker???

I call bullshit, that game was developed in less than 5 months.

It'd be cool if there was a site out there that gave out scores in the way of ambiguous math problems. That way people could argue all day about what the real score actually is.

Can't be, Gamespot and IGN don't use the .1 scales anymore :P

They should go back to those. At least gamespot, you just feel how the numbers they give never quite tell what they meant. (every game is 8.5 nowadays, I miss the 8.3s and 8.7s )

Sounds better then your Skyrim review

If I were to invent a scale, it would be out of 23 and each year the top-end of the scale would increase by 0.5, giving room for new and better masterpieces as time inevitably marches forward and life fades from meaningfulness just as a breeze dissipates a cool summer's afternoon of dread and despair locked in step but ever increasingly out of tune.

Then I shall give it a 8.5/5 to balance the universe.

Well, I think they should revert to the .1 rating scale specifically to score Skyward Sword an 8.8
Massive trolling :lol

Oh, and fun fact, we're not allowed to give half scores. It's 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5.

THATS WHY WE GAVE THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: SKYWARD SWORD A 1,2,3,4

OUT OF 5 (sorry anihawk stealin yo joke)

Those games have voice acting, cinematic presentation, and challenging gameplay. They were way ahead of their time, and it's only now that true discerning adult gamers can free themselves from the shackles of Nintendo and appreciate Phillips as the true standard-bearer of innovation and quality for the Zelda series.

So you're saying it could be a 1 or a 2 or a 3. Like the possibility is absolutely there. Well this should be interesting.

3/5 for the Lols.

Bonus points if you talk about how the bird was shit to control to really make the fanboys rage.
If he does it'll potentially be the blunder of review gaming this year. The bird control certainly isn't shitty based off the demo I've played

This topic is really going to be fun to watch.

Not everyone is going to like those controls given what we've heard.

Still it isn't about if they are or not, I just can't wait to see the first meltdown.

Gamestop already has that honor with their Mario 3D Land review for taking a point off for not using Spot Pass better.

Did they literally say that they took a point off because the game didn't use spotpass better, or is this a conclusion you've drawn?

Well the main complaint is the waggle.

But the waggle to the bird control isn't even necessary to control the thing.

Yes I get chasing the bird statue is annoying, but tilting the control to turn the thing is pretty smooth and it seems like it only takes a minute to get to major places in the sky.

Is this a running joke???

IT'S GAMESPOT.

Yeah though, their review was absolutely absurd, really liked the whole game, weak point was uncreative use of StreetPass.

Yes, but as I said I don't really care about that.

As it is I think throwing the fire balls in Mario Galaxy is some of the smoothest and smartest use of Motion Control in gaming yet people knocked that game for that as well so not everyone will agree with Motion.

Plus like I said, I want to see the breaking point for fans.

Well a good portion of fans have played the leaked demo and there doesn't seem to be major complaints about the controls in any of the areas.

Not even my complaints about the rope walking has been highlighted.

Their only major complaints were that Street Pass and Gyro controls were "uncreative"...
I mean, I suppose you could call that a conclusion that I've drawn, but it's based on their own words.

You're operating under the assumption that every game starts as a ten, and then reviewers count points down for every fault they find.

nckillthegrimace said:
I'm pretty sure that doesn't mean what you think it means. It's not like Mario started out as a ten and then the reviewer was like, "Insufficient street pass! Minus one point!" At least I fucking hope no one reviews like that because it's really stupid. Criticism isn't a math equation.

Said it better.

Regardless, it's just sounds like they are reaching for something to complain about.
It's like when they reviewed Fire Emblem Wii and complained about poor use of Miis.
