Skyward Sword review thread [Newest Reviews - Cubed3 10/10, GC: A, AusGamers: 7/10]

Minish Cap is very charming, as is Spirit Tracks, as is Wind Waker, and that's why all of them are the best for me.

By the looks of it Skyward Sword beats the hell all of them so.... Ngggghhhhhhhhhhh.

The Legend of Zelda: 9

The Legend of Zelda II: Freaked me out, didn't play it much though my brother would probably give it a 9

A Link to the Past: 9.5

Ocarina of Time: 10

Majora's Mask: Never got around to it and my Wii died soon after I downloaded it but anyway, 10.

The Wind Waker: 9

Twilight Princess: 9

Skyward Sword: 30

I must be the only one who thought the train was fine mainly cause it felt like actually riding a train in video game form.

The problem is that you couldn't run out of it + Spirit Tracks is relatively still a low end quality Zelda game. Plus the fetch quests on the thing weren't any fun

Lol no?

That's a straight up fact and completely undebatable. Has nothing to do with objective values, Spirit Tracks really does have better dungeon design. You have to be delusional to think otherwise

The problem with Spirit Tracks for me - apart from all the arduous train travel - was that while the dungeons probably were objectively better, all the DS-specific abilities (drawing the boomerang path, etc) which were fresh and exciting in Phantom Hourglass had been muted by familiarity and without enough new to compensate, meaning the game suffered badly by comparison.

Both DS Zelda games were pure atrocities. I still to this day cannot get over how bad they are. The only reason I still own Spirit Tracks is because I'm such a fanboy. I however nuked Phantom Hourglass from orbit years ago, it was the only way to be sure.

Also, Linebeck is a bad character. ST reduced him to a tiny cameo in one of the best moves in the series's history.
Linebeck was the best thing about Phantom Hourglass. Doesn't say much, but I thought Linebeck was awesome.

Wow, this actually sounds super interesting!

It's why MM is so incredible.

You also have about 40 NPC's around the game world. EVERY SINGLE ONE has a sidequest to complete. And these aren't just simple ones. For example there's a famous quest involving two lovers, anju and kafei. Kafei's body has been turned into a child's body by Majora, and so he has run into hiding, ashamed of himself. You have to find him, try and fix his curse (and fail), and eventually bring them two together to get married. You finally acheive this, but it's 20 minutes before the end of the world.

You get a mask for your trouble, but they both end up doomed regardless. And you can't stay - you have to go back to Day 1. And guess what? Anju and Kafei are reset. If you don't help them this time (which you wont), they'll die apart.

It's like people can sense the midnight hour approaching. Bitches are starting to hate, right on cue.
You know what that means, right?

The real issue with the train was that you couldn't draw your tracks like originally intended, the overworld was boring, and the train was slow. It could have been neat, if not ideal. It turned out to be fairly blah.

I still did every sidequest in the game. I'm not sure how/why either.

Funny because I did the same.

This, plus the fact that receiving masks was so much more rewarding than the usual rupees/heart pieces. I loved how Ocarina Of Time was the story of a hero saving the world, and Majora was the story of everyone in the world that the hero was trying to save.

FIFTEEN FUCKING MINUTES.

OK, I just saw the 30 min title. What happens in 15?

We all turn into coffins except for the few of us that have the ability to summon Persona.

Curse is lifted in the end, so it's all good. They get married.

And the simple fact was - throughout the game, you could only ever save one or two people. Everyone else died. It was impossible to save everyone.

Until you beat the final boss of course, BUT STILL. It was easily the best Zelda I've ever played.
