If it comes down to enjoying Motion Controls, then I'll probably love the game.

Yeah, I'm just going through EGM's review now since that one seems to be hitting a nerve... That one is a little strange (they have lots of problems with Zelda's demeanour in this game, likening it to Samus Aran in Metroid: Other M; visual design emphasizes enemy strengths and weaknesses and thus SS relies too much on motion controls; TP's motion controls were better in that they were more forgiving, etc). I kind of wish the review were a little longer so that they could justify themselves more (which is the same issue I had with their Sonic Generations review).Socreges said:I hope everyone is actually reading the reviews. Even those who were disappointed in part are still saying it's an "incredible" game. Just sounds like there are tedious fetch quests and the like that naturally hurt the overall result. But that doesn't mean that this won't still be an excellent experience.
It sucks to hear that Nintendo still thinks these tedious, drawn-out fetch quests are necessary. Cut the game's length in half for all I care if it means we don't have to put up with them.
EGM's review doesn't really seem to jive with the rest, so I feel comfortable completely disregarding it.
I hope so. I haven't read up on how it works but I'm just hoping it's fun, unlike other stealth sections/alternate worlds in Zelda games.Feep said:No dude it's so awesome

Socreges said:Not sure how this is relevant? I was just commenting on how the last two sentences were poorly written and difficult to understand.
Well I'm not reading any of these reviews too closely because I don't want to spoil myself.ShockingAlberto said:For whatever it's worth, that "con" list isn't saying you'll hate him because he's a bad villain, but you'll hate him like you hate villains.

Yes. It is.Lakitu said:Um, Wind Waker is incredible.

I'd do a bigger warning. You tell peopleTSA said:Eh, please point them out so I can mark them. I thought I caught them all. Or should I preface something with a bigger warning?

They just think it deserved to be on a "next-gen" console with a "traditional" controller

I am genuinely sad that SS doesn't seem to be a return to the glory days of the franchise. Of course I'll have to play it myself to confirm it, but I can't remember a console Zeldabeing so divisive.

I appreciate the fact that reviewers exist but obviously this won't change anything (I'm still buying it and so will millions of other people). Though most likely, by the end of the day, I'm not gonna agree with some of the reviewers, especially the EGM review. It's blatantly dumb as heck, but whatever.
Sorry. I'm bailing out of here now, thanks for the ride!
Divisive? Has there been a single reviewer who's said that it's anything less than a "great" game?Jay-B said:Somewhere someone at Bethesda is already preparing the shelf on which will be displayed their goty awards.

Can anyone explain to me what that last sentence means?Jay-B said:Giantbomb: 4/5
"Skyward Sword is simultaneously a very good Zelda game and a rather great adventure game. It has some of the most inventive dungeons the series has ever known, sports the most impactful changes to the combat since Z-targeting, introduces wrinkles to the Zelda mythology that will force fans to rethink the entire series, and will have you gawking at it constantly, 480p 'n all. But the series finds itself facing an identity crisis, as it flirts with expanding what has defined the series without abandoning its charming but waning simplicity. Zelda doesnt need to become something else to maintain relevance, but at a certain point, when a brand-new great Zelda game isnt enough, theres reason to pause."
