7 or a 6 has to be coming from somewhere. shit, a 4/10 like uncharted 3 got would be something, but it'd have to happen within the next day or two and not a week down the road.
That 4/10 was magnificent, troll-tier entertainment.

Thought I'd join in on the Zelda avatar festivities but I really don't know if anyone will get the joke if I went with this

Maybe I should just shop a Link hat on instead...

One thing's for sure: Skyward Sword will divide. Its numerous qualities, among which the changes of scenery, the ingeniousness of the puzzles, make it able to provide us with a quest rich with intense moments, but some imprecision and lengthy sections prevent it from becoming the new and reformed shiny prince the series needed. If the Wii MotionPlus gameplay enables the immersion to go a step further, it requires a rigorous play style and will spawn some frustrations when it sometimes (rarely) doesn't work perfectly well. A beautiful adventure remains, still, proud to be the hallmark of the 25th anniversary of Link, Zelda & co... but not sufficiently sparkling to eclipse the infinite magic of the Ocarina of Time and Link to the Past episodes.

9/10
Translated from another language and still more comprehensible than the Giantbomb review.

Where is the really low score that makes everybody go apeshit?
Uncharted fans got some of those. Why do we always have to play second fiddle?
I guess people don't care. We already got some apeshit reviews, even if the score wasn't apeshit; Also the major publications, bar gamespot, have already given it pretty high scores, mostly 10/10 (GI, IGN, Guardianm Jeuxvideo). So beside lowering MC score, I think there's not much left that lower scares may do.

So i remember Miyamoto saying: "If this is not the best Zelda game ever made, then we're probably done making Zelda games".

Ok, that's it folks. NO MOAR ZELRUDA GAMES!

i guess i'll have to order xenoblade after i'm all finished with this skyward sword nonsense.

If the plot is as TSA says, in which Link mostly act for himself, than I hardly will be able to finish the game.

For those still in doubt, just got my copy in Switzerland :-P All these reviews weren't going to stop me!

Anyone know when the OT will be up by any chance?

i thought SS would be close to SMG/SMG2 score

When you have a website that rates a game like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, part of a franchise that continually uses the same basic gameplay elements with small changes here and there, higher than an iconic and revolutionary game like Skyward Sword, you know you have issues.

he is right anyway

No more Zelda in Aonuma's hands: it is now really time. He better start working on something else and EAD Tokyo better handle the next Zelda.

But it's titled Kakariko Village - Twilight Princess, yet it doesn't sound at all like TP's rendition.

That's because there are two separate themes in that.

First: Kakariko Village (not TP version)
Second: Twilight princess Theme

Aonuma didn't really do anything more than Miyamoto did this time.

Except axe the motion controls, which if he had stuck to it, probably would have resulted in a higher rating.

I even mentioned the Disney thing myself in my review, but "wide cast" is ridiculous. The number of named NPCs in this game is shockingly, shockingly low.

I'm in the middle, I guess. It was good, but nothing mindblowing.

Perhaps "wide" isn't the best choice of word, but I also think "shockingly low" is an exaggeration. I still think it compares quite nicely to the number of important/interesting characters you'd find in a good animated film.

I also wouldn't call the story elements mindblowing. Just a big step up for the franchise, IMO.

So everyone loves Zelda, but seems like a few sites hate having to play it on the Wii.

Is that how it seems? Most complaints I've read have to do with the actual level design/structure than motion controls.

You think people are actually reading reviews? :P

lol i'm reading some. Everybody has something else to say. Feep's was objective with the minor faults highlighted lol but the praise is there. Can't wait to play it for myself.

This Zelda will be much more similar to Majora's Mask than any other Zelda in term of reviews. Even MM had some perfect scores and some of others who hated the game.

It's a game that will divide. I don't think the gameplay is the issue from what I read. People who expect Motion plus to both be accurate and easy are dumb.

I'm more concerned about the story now. TSA put in my heads some serious concerns.

I count six with any sort of developed personality.
(Seven, if you double count...you know.)

Yeah, that number seems about right. But again, if you're looking at a good animated film, I think the number of characters who are developed and have significant screen time versus smaller gag roles but still amusing is something similar/comparable.

Again, like I said in the review, I don't think it's some ground-breaking reinvention of video game storytelling or anything. It was just a very satisfying story for me that pulled me in and made me care more than I expect from a Zelda game's plot.

Technically, it is the best Zelda game made.

What does LTTP and OoT have that Skyward Sword doesn't? Probably just the nostalgia feel.

(i know you were joking btw)

Yeah, but at this point, wouldn't be really better to let a different team, with a different director to handle the series?
They are so pussycats! Look at Galaxy: it was the first Mario made by a team out of Miyamoto's hands and it became suddenly the best. Oh, wrong: Galaxy 2 was even better.
And Metroid: Other M was under the hands of Sakamoto, while Prime wasn't. What is the best game?

One of the very few things Reggie said that actually were true: change is good.

Please Nintendo.

I probably shouldn't have highlighted that. Damn highlighting reflexes, this is what happens when spoiler tags are often used for jokes also lol ._.

Skyward Sword was done by a largely new Zelda team with a new director. Aonuma was only a producer this time around.

Meanwhile the team that usually made Mario games made a game that sold thirty million copies.

So, if you were Nintendo, what lesson exactly do you learn from that?

I've seen a couple of complaints about motion controls, notably EGM; universal praise for temple design; and countless reviews desperate to cling on to what was in the old games, either for a reference point, or an excuse to decry the series for not moving on.

You know what, from what I've seen and played, if this isn't Zelda moving on, then I just give up. Go back to your Uncharted 3 and enjoy being on a boat or whatever.
