I will say that Patrick Klepek's biggest sin here is that his writing came across as totally uninspired and -- well -- boring? There was no critical enthusiasm either way. It's a "my brain is completely preoccupied with something else right now" piece of writing.

Undoubtedly, Skyward Sword will be many people's new favorite Zelda, so it's understandable that some will honestly feel that it's the best Zelda ever – it's not an unreasonable position to take. The thing is, Zelda is a rare example of a series that has never had a serious misstep to tarnish its record. Every Zelda is someone's favorite Zelda, and there's a legitimate argument for why each Zelda is the "best" Zelda.

When reviewers throw out the word "relevance," they really need to start defining the meaning of their usage of it. Otherwise, it's as vague a word as "cool" or "good."

Skyward Sword sets a new, important benchmark for Nintendo. Modern video games have made significant strides in how they present stories to audiences, and it seems as though Nintendo has finally taken notice. Skyward Sword features cinematics that play out like a movie.

Not really new to Zelda games WW and TP both had cut scenes to tell the story.

From what I've played, yes there does seem to be a bit more focus on the narrative than other games, but it doesn't come at the expense of anything.

So on the positive side I wake up to reviews and it doesn't seem like anyone has been banned yet.

Alkaline was banned, though seems that was due to him suddenly going off on Wind Waker and pretty much outright saying that WW fans have bad taste.

Well if you've seen the tv commercials and trailers it really looks like this Zelda is much more cinematic and looks awesome.

From what i've seen Link is such a badass in SS.

So I gathered this from the reviews so far.

- It starts off too slow, formulaic and it takes too long until there's freedom to explore the main areas.
- This is one of the most linear 3D Zelda games and this will be divisive with fans (sigh at this generation)
- Too much filler.
- Some sections are a cross between the Ocean King Temple/Twilight Realm, and these were unpopular fetch and stealth levels from previous games.
- Under-use of the music instrument.
- Fi isn't as good as Midna.

It seems like this game has serious problems and not worth the ridiculous wait of 5 years, despite what should be an impressive Metascore of 95. Of course next week will tell.

I'm pretty disappointed at the lack of legit meltdowns. The 8s started rolling in on page 189: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=449164&page=189

I read like 10 pages after that and only Yoshichan and BrandonH83 seemed like they were raging for multiple posts.
