Well it's the only way snake is possibly getting in at this point.
Hm... I'd like that. Or maybe as an Assist or something? Plus, isn't she one of the more popular 3rd Parties in the Ballot? And seeing how Snake, Goku, Banjo, and Sora are all doing well but are simultaneously impossible, there's a small chance she's the most viable 3rd Party Candidate... Although I doubt anything, it'd be nice to see Shantae in Smash somehow. Hey, maybe if she gets in, Shovel Knight can be her accompanying Assist Trophy? Or vice versa?
Who here thinks we could be getting Sector Z as a DLC stage? Would make an awesome 8 player map to boot:
Hm... I'd really like that! Plus, it'd kill the "No N64 Stage," "Not enough 8-Player maps," and "No Great Fox" stage problems with one stone!
I'm not gonna lie, I wanted a "Out of this Dimension" stage in Brawl, where you rode on the Slot Machine boss as the main platform. Granted, I want less hazards these days, and that stage'd be nothing but hazards.
Oh well. There's always a different Casino-themed stage I've wanted since Brawl...
I mean, like, they could just keep picking Green Hill Zone look-alikes and not remix any new Sonic music, too. That's always an option...
I really want to see the results, if only because I haven't voted yet on Smash Ballot. I think most of my choices are already in the game, so I have a lot of indecision about who to ask for next. If I had a general idea about which characters to be hopeful for, it would help a lot.
I forgot how cool that game looked, despite how awful the artstyle was (Seriously, I got a B^Uckley vibe from it)...

That leads to another good point. Even though 2/3's of the playable Pokemon debuted in Red/Blue, we haven't had a genuine Kanto stage since 64's Saffron City.
Bring that back, or do another one. Viridian Forest, SS Anne, Lavender Town, Mt. Moon. Any of those would make serviceable stages.
Game Boy representation in general is pretty bad. Dream Land was a good start, but it's still one of the least represented consoles for stages.Surely a Wario Land stage or something derived from Metroid II, Link's Awakening or even that Japan-only frog game would make good stages, no?
Man, a Rice Beach or a Tal Tal Heights stage'd be fantastic! So would Mt. Moon, but I just want Saffron City back, and I'll feel that Gen I would have enough representation.

I wonder how hard it would be to set up a Google Doc poll that would ask GAF voters who they voted for as well as their next 2 to 4 "runners up" or extra votes if they've done as much.
MaverickHunterAsh and OricWindstar have a good understanding of how to manipulate data and set up polls, I'd nominate either of them for management roles.

Viridian Forest would make particular sense in that it's the first location in the game where you can catch Pikachu.

Cerulean Cave could be cool. It wouldn't need hazards or anything, just a big rock overlooking Mewtwo's area. Maybe Zubat flying around sometimes carrying items.

I'd like at least one Pokémon stage based on the natural environments of the world. I know the more notable ones are the buildings and structures but the other areas are beautiful too.

Well at least in 4 the new Pokemon stages are based on existing areas rather than the generic "stadium".

Well nothing will ever top ripped N64 models floating over a low res pink cloud, so I can see why Pokemon stages are a little lacking.
Seriously how does Pokefloats relate to Pokemon at all lol? Has to be one of the laziest stages Smash has had.
Based on some unused data, it seems they were going to make Sprout Tower and then ran out of time and then Pokefloats was born.

In terms of Stage DLC, I'd sure like to see (besides the Pokemon examples I already brought up)
F-Zero: Silence. So we can finally get some remixed F-Zero music that's not Mute freakin' City.
Fire Emblem: Akaneia. The long-lost Melee stage. And since Marth has been in more Smash games than any other FE character, it would make sense to do a stage based on a game he was actually in.
Game and Watch: Flat Zone Cement Factory. Technically, Smash 4 didn't get a new G&W stage at all. This would be something different, sort of like a smaller 75m with less annoying hazards

It's one of the series' most inventive stages in my eyes. Gimme that back, and gimme Brinstar Depths back too while we're at it. There was something so freaking awesome about fighting in what's seemingly the only chunk of land left in a post-apocalyptic world, which a ginormous beast messes with at whim.

I think Melee's unused "Akaneia" stage just became Castle Siege. That would explain why it was one of the earliest revealed stages for Brawl.
Wait, really? Because Poke Floats was fantastic, but the Johto Fanboy in me would've loved Sprout Tower, too.
I like this sentiment of a natural Pokémon stage, though; I never realized it, but the closest we have is Spear Pillar, which is still a manmade shrine on a mountaintop. I know it's minor in the grand scheme, but I always thought a Meteor Falls stage would be cool.
And Ash, I'd love to see a Ballot poll! But there's no need to rush into; the Census had to have been an undertaking.

That kind of falls in the same category as the Pokemon "Stadium" stages and Poke Floats; it doesn't really represent any game.
Something with at least the decor of Shadow Dragon or its 16-bit remakes would be nice to have.

Why is it "worse?" Pre-release speculation is fun and exciting, but besides that, just let people believe what they want. There's no reason to complain about it or cast people's thoughts in a negative light. What fans believe isn't going to affect Shantae's chances one way or the other, so why should it matter to you?

- It's an Etika video. He's one of the worst youtubers out there and overreaction is his thing.
- How is it any different from the myriads of people who were convinced Geno was gonna be in Brawl despite no evidence that could suggest so? Or Ridley fans being in denial for months after the Greninja Direct. People always latch to whatever they can when repping their character of choice. The Smash cycle never ends.

That reminds me, I kind of wanted to see a Game Boy-themed Pokemon stage, too. Like, have it be pixelated and look like it came straight out of one of the first 2 Gens. Maybe that can keep Cerulean Cave from seeming like a generic cavern, but with Mewtwo in the background?
I mean, Shantae's an Indie series that has been pretty close to Nintendo; it's been Nintendo exclusive for years, even in regards to cameos, and even with the Steam ports, every Shantae has at least debuted on a Nintendo system. Ubisoft and Choice Provisions were able to push hard enough to get Rayman and Commander.Video trophies into the base game; maybe the Ballot gave Shantae enough clout for an Assist Trophy/Stage? Plus, again, assuming the most popular 3rd Party picks are her, Shovel Knight, Snake, Banjo, Bayonetta, Geno, and Sora, she and Shovel Knight are the only ones with a decent chance.

How cool would the E3/Best Buy 2014 demo be if it leaked? Would there be pieces of Ice Climbers left? Textures/Models of them maybe? Unfinished stages? Beta elements?
Chances are there'd be lots of interesting stuff on that build, considering it was probably pre-clones and pre-Ice Climbers being cut.
Often these things take years to leak, though, if they ever do.

The demo build from E3 2014 was a few months old at the time. Considering Dark Pit's segment in Palutena's trailer, I think this time last year is right around when the major late roster changes happened, since they didn't seem to have time to edit the trailer to show Dark Pit as a full character like they did for Lucina.
If the build was from March or April, that's 5-6 months of solid QA until release.

Of course that's assuming Dark Pit wasn't a character at the time of Palutena's trailer and they weren't just hiding him for shits and giggles.

I think Smash 4 had either gone gold or was close to it by the time of the demo build. Lucina was revealed less than a month afterwards (before Shulk, even).

Ice Climbers were fully functional on the Wii U. I feel like Sakurai left them untouched on the Wii U once they were done there and tried getting them on the 3DS until he realized it was futile.

Yeah, I subscribe to that theory. Lucina, Doc and Dark Pit thrown into the roster together, Dark Pit only teased to avoid an instant Evil Cole publicity.
Why? They're the perfect first newcomer for Smash 5. As a game releasing after Smash Wii U, they're not in a "it's now or never" situation.
That entire segment of the Iwata Asks really made it sound like they were very proud to bring forth a new Nintendo character too.
The Inklings as playable character in Smash is inevitable. The question is when.
While granted, they will be in Smash 5 if they aren't DLC now, they're among the most likely characters for that last mystery slot besides the Chorus Kids (assuming Wolf gets one of them)....if the slot isn't for the ballot winner that's within reason.

I think their appeal as the "cool new IP character" will have worn off in 5 or 6 years when Smash 5 comes out. I agree they'll be in either now or then, but now makes much more sense to me.

I thought of three possible Final Smashes for Wonder-Red.
1. Platinum Robo Attack: Platinum Robo appears and wrecks everything.
2. Wonderful Smash: The rest of the main 7 come out and do a team attack with Wonder-Red finishing it. Though that's more for Nintendo vs. Capcom if it ever happens.
3. Unlimited Form: Like Wario Man, Red will engage Unlimited Form and briefly become faster and stronger.

Yea but you can also use DLC to put in a character that isn't already a lock for Smash 5, who might not have a chance otherwise.
