My only gripe about Smash 4's All-Star mode is its length, although the hardest fight for me (The N64 era one against Ness, Diddy, and the Ocarina/Gen 1 characters) comes in the middle; at least it's not the very last fight! Although I guess that fight's kind of bloated already (Isn't it the largest now, thanks to Mewtwo). Assuming we get Wolf, Impa (Or was she in the NES Zelda, too?), Dixie, and/or K. Rool, that fight's just going to be a marathon. I don't want them to extend All-Star itself too far, but I would be okay if they divided that fight into 2 if they're going to add another character. I'm not sure how that'd work, since the bloat is partially due to the 4 Pokemon; as it stands now, it'd be a 6 character fight and a 2 character one. Unless the 2 others were moved to a separate fight, it'd just be weird to have them on their own.

But yeah, Smash 4 All-Star is fantastic! I dunno, it just feels right organizing the individual characters by system/debut. I just wish it wasn't so long; I set it to Easy when I was aiming for the trophies, and it still felt grind-ish. I can only imagine how it'll be after all the DLC... Which I hope is plentiful.

I know that the general concept behind All Star is fighting every character but with the roster ballooning in size and eras getting cramped they may as well limit the number of opponents in such a way that you wont always get every pokemon show up for instance, like in classic mode sometimes you're just on the sidelines.
Plus All Star has kind of shifted into a "look at our history" sort of thing anyway.

Or add another healing item, the easy way out.

The middle of All Star is going to just be absurd with DLC.

If Wolf gets in 96-99 is just going to be silly.

Oh, and that's either right before or right after 2002-2006. Hello Lucas and Roy, nice to have two 9 man All Star games back to back.

What's that? K Rool getting in? 10 man 96-99, just before or after 9 man 2001-2006. Just downright brutal.

On the off chance Pichu or Young Link get in, 96-99 would be just plain stupid. 2 more for that pile (unless they make 2002 into 2001, in which that's not any better for Pichu). At that point they'd have to break it into one dedicated entirely to Pokemon and then one for everyone else. If they start bringing back Squirtle and Ivysaur... lmao.

The two "Beat All Star in x time" achievements will be close to impossible. Jigglypuff cannot physically crowd control 11 people in a round and still manage to make 6 minutes. It's not happening and no amount of added healing items or lowered AI will make that work.

Snake + Ryu are in the same era as well (86-90). Ice Climbers are ok. I can't think of any other character from that era.

All Star is going to get pretty crowded

CEO keeps teasing a major Smash announcement in their next trailer.

A lot of people are hyping it up as a Roy reveal, but it might just be something specific to CEO.

CEO?

I think my time with Puff for that challenge was around 5:30, and that was with some mistakes. Just adding another 2 characters wouldn't make it impossible.

As in "Heathcliff"
SSB4's All-Star mode is fairly good about stages, but it still has some stinkers in there. Kalos Pokemon League, Gamer, Orbital Gate Assault, Wily Castle, Wrecking Crew, Flat Zone X, and Pac-Land have no business being in All-Star, at least not how they currently are. It still feels kind of like you're reliant on the luck of the stage draw. Better than it has been, though.

hit the nail on the head. can't stand any of the stages you listed in all star. especially gamer.

but did they made those stages hazard free now? I thought they did in recent update?

Isn't Project M due to have some announcements fairly soon? They got a new version coming out + we know there's some characters they're working on. I just wonder if it could be that.

Not the ones I listed. The only ones that are Hazard-less in All-Star are the ones that are hazard-less in 8-Player. As such, stages that aren't normally available in 8-Player are unchanged in All-Star. So, basically, they thought it was pertinent to remove the dog and ducks from the Duck Hunt stage but Registeel appearing on Kalos Pokemon League was completely fine. No villagers in the backgrounds of Smashville/Town & City but the mom on Gamer is completely active. It's bizarre.

Not to mention, Project M has a pretty big showing there ever since the All Star mode reveal. This might be a good guess actually.

On another note, the last few days have rekindled my burning desire to see Takamaru, Lip, Mike Jones, Wonder Red and the Inklings make the jump.

Oh. I can totally see CEO announcing something for Project M (I mean, didn't Knuckles, Sami, and Lyn leak), but that article's crazy for thinking they'd announce Roy/Ryu there.
They're clearly saving Ryu for EVO.

Brought a smile to my face. My boy is back! :3

Same here man. My Brawl squad is all accounted for again between Marth, Pit and Lucas. :D

It's a damn shame that there's no way he's gonna get in without the ballot.
;_;

He has some very powerful supporters though between most of GAF, Team Four Star and Best Friends Play. It's enough to keep him & The Wonderful 101 in the conversation and that's just as good imo.

Maybe they'll keep him in mind for Smash 5?
The Wonderful 101 would go the way of franchises like Golden Sun & Custom Robo by then, forgotten, & it breaks my heart. The ballot is Wonder Red's only chance to ever get in Smash (& the exposure could push Nintendo to give W101 another shot).

Like, you say that, but he'll get into Smash 5 as a rep for the Wonderful series, right? Right?!

... *Sobs*

I'm genuinely hoping that TFS/SBF have given the game a fanbase despite its abysmal sales. I voted for Wonder Red, at least, as has a chunk of GAF. Maybe they'll see the support and chalk up the sales due to the game being an early Wii U title from a new IP? I feel like they had an idea of what characters they wanted to add going into the Ballot, and are prioritizing them based on popularity. This originally had me hopeful that the wait for characters they've already considered, like Dixie or Isaac, wouldn't be too long, but the more I think about it, the more I fear it means that characters they may not have expected to be popular, like Wonder Red, K. Rool, or Sami, have no chance to get into Smash 4.

Also, as a side-note, I know Sonic got shafted from any new remixes, and Pac-Man didn't bring the CE DX OST, but I'm really hoping Ryu comes with a Third Strike song or two. Imagine if they added that game's character select/theme music to the My Music for the Menu! Sorry, I'm a sucker for those cheesy raps.

King K. Rool has been steamrolling the competition in sheer support. I'd be genuinely shocked if he isn't one of the ballot characters. Though I'm not sure if Sakurai is even considering Isaac in any sort of capacity outside of the ballot since his franchises has fallen off the wayside.

And while the estimates aren't entirely accurate, they pegged Wonder Red to be among the most popular behind Rool & the Inklings (the latter of the two will probably get in without the need of the ballot if the Chorus Kids don't get in).

I have a feeling Wonder Red's numbers on the Internet aren't the entire picture. The vast majority of voters in the poll aren't going to even know who he is.

I also believe there's an unknown stand out that's getting a lot of votes, but isn't popular around forums. Not sure who, but these things have a tendency to happen.

My guess is Snake is currently the most wanted returning vet. He doesn't get a lot of attention because a lot of people think he has no chance to return, but I really believe he's getting a lot more votes than many forums anticipate. Wolf, Roy and Ice Climbers are probably right behind him, with the rest of the cut vets getting votes but nothing major.

I have a feeling the only Street Fighter songs are going to be a few rips from SF2, a retro SF2 medley, a remixed SF2 medley, and a remix of Ryu's SF2 theme.

I hate to say it, but I'm with you on Wonder Red only looking like he's doing well; just because he's GAF's favorite doesn't mean that someone who was just linked to the Ballot on Facebook voted for him. Besides, their votes are going to matter more due to how frequent/numerous they must be. I guess that's why Banjo's killing it in the polls despite being a bad choice on Nintendo's part, though. I mean, as much as we laughed at Cat Mario being a hilariously awful "example" fighter when the Ballot was revealed, I bet that abysmal choice is doing rather well in the actual totals. We just have forum-screened results here, not the real totals. For all we know, K. Rool might be slogging in the totals!

I mean, that's all we're probably getting, but that's far-and-away better than what Sonic got. And Wario. And Pikmin. And Metroid. And Game & Watch, I guess. I mean, Mr. G&W's music is inherently original, but we just got Flat Zone 1 & 2 again. And thanks to the 3DS port of IV doing exceptionally well, I'm expecting music from there, too. I just really want Third Strike's and Pac-Man CE DX's soundtracks in the game, too.

Pikmin did alright. 3 new songs, 2 are remixes. It had 3 songs cut, but two of them were the same song just in 2 different languages. This is for a pretty low-key game in Smash as well.

Wario got absolutely trashed this game with music though. He lost a substantial amount of music that wasn't replaced with anything of value.

At least he got 1, Japan-exclusive remix, though. Sonic didn't even get that! There were new songs, but it was back in the "Theme of a Sonic Game no matter how poorly it fit" boat from Brawl, plus Rooftop Run, Windy Hill, and City Escape (Which was a nice touch). We lost Sonic Boom, though, which was a pretty substantial hit, in my opinion. Same for Super Sonic Racing. Maybe I'm just biased because I love the series' music, maybe it's because Mega Man/Pac-Man had a lot of remixes/medleys, or maybe I wanted a Casino Night Zone level so bad that Windy Hill disappointed me all around. No matter what, the song selection from Sonic felt weak, especially because Sonic is the only series with music that didn't get anything in the way of a remix, barring Gyromite, which already covered its entire soundtrack with its Brawl medley.

But yeah, the Wario selection was pretty awful. With how great the Ware series' soundtrack is, you'd think they'd put more effort into it? Plus, as a Land fan, I was hoping to see more than just one song from that side of Wario's series.

Why wouldn't they rip the remixed themes from SF4 or some other recent release? They'll likely include the original Ryu stage theme from SF2, but i can't see them going the retro themes for other themes. I guess one could point to Megaman, but that's filled with remixes in the first place. We probably aren't getting many remixes here, so picking themes already remixed by other games makes more sense.

Edit: Speaking about Megaman, considering how they added a X skin for the Mii, I wish there were some X bgms...

I forgot about SF4, but I suppose that's possible. The SF4 themes are SF2 remixes so they'd definitely fit in thematically. I'm fully expecting Ryu's SF2 theme to be the "Jungle Level" of the Street Fighter series.

I hope that Sakurai is going to change one thing in future update.

If you wonder where they save replays and custom stages.

Moral of the story: Nintendo doesn't want you to fill up your Wii U's memory so you have more space to buy and download games from the eShop. Don't fill up the 100 MB you're assigned for your Sm4sh save file and you'll be good.

Just change from 100 to 300-500MB please. I hate this nonsense because I constantly reached to it's limit.

If Ryu really does come out as DLC, are people expecting we'll get a new stage with him? Or would you have to purchase that stage separately? (And would it be the same stage for 3DS and Wii U?)

Mike's Song US was the only non-Sonic Brawl song with vocals I had turned on.

It was a great loss. Such a nice song.

You even turned off the GOAT? I wasn't a fan of the remix, but it's because I loved the original so much.

Edit: Speaking about Megaman, considering how they added a X skin for the Mii, I wish there were some X bgms...

It really sucks, because they played Abandoned Highway during Smash Fest. They debuted the Gear Getaway remix there, and even played Dark Pit's Theme (Nobody batted an eye, but I guess in retrospect...), so I assumed that meant we were getting Abandoned Highway. Mega Man has great songs, but X's OST really shines.

Just now rememberin that Mona Pizza and Ati no Uta were cut.

Shit :(

I know... Mona Pizza's also pretty good.

That is a beautiful idea. I never knew I wanted this.

Sorry to get your hopes up for nothing!

Everyone's assuming Ryu's in because of leftover data, and a stage called "SF2_Ryu" was also found in the same patch, the 3DS version is probably getting Ryu's castle stage from SFII. I can see that stage being in the Wii U version as well, but that one's just speculation on my end.

I don't know where to post this but the things I really want are more about features than new characters.

- Why can I be teamed up with a complete stranger in For Glory 2v2 but not my friends? I can do it locally, but my only other friend who plays Smash moved out of state and it would be awesome to team up with him in For Glory. How hard can it be?

- Why can't we have the 'generic' quotes system from Mario Kart 8? Things like 'Good game!' 'I've got to go!' 'No fair!' or 'That was fun!' would be much easier than having to fiddle with controller profiles to communicate. Everyone does it, why not streamline it?

I feel like comparing W101 to Golden Sun is an offense to W101
Probably not the best comparison seeing as Golden Sun actually got a sequel. Nintendo literally sent The Wonderful 101 out to die & it's only even brought up now out of cult popularity. W101 getting a sequel would be nothing short of a miracle, & the only way it would have a shot at happening is if Wonder Red gets into Smash, giving the franchise some much-needed exposure. And given how badly the game bombed (which breaks my heart even today), the ballot is Wonder Red's only shot.
