Honestly sorta weirded out how little 3DWorld is referenced in Smash 4 beyond a few music rips. Mario Kart 8 came out afterwards and got a remix and a stage, Woolly World isn't even out in every region yet and got a remix and a stage and DKCTF at least got its own trophy section, with Dixie/Cranky/Funky's referencing it. It's not like it came out too late to get any proper dues given how recent a lot of the other content included was.

Yeah a stage like this for Mario would would be amazing, I would also love to see a Donkey Kong Country stage that isn't jungle themed.

I still really want a Minecart Madness stage to represent DKC for once. Hopefully it'd be the new Big Blue instead of being too gimmicky or just convoluted like 3DLand or Mushroomy Kingdom wound up feeling.

Me too. I would like Sunset Shore or one of K. Rool's stages (even if he isn't one of the DLC newcomers). I would also want more DKC music that isn't Jungle Hijinx remixes.

I don't understand how we have all the koopalings, bowser jr and bowser and still no bowser's castle.
We have a taste of a fortress and a tiny bit of a castle as transformations, but still no dedicated stage.
This leads to a lack of bowser remixes as well, or having the few we get on unfitting stages.

They have to be going out of the way to not use Bowser's castle or anything else Bowser themed as a stage this long into the series. Two Mario Kart stages before one Bowser stage?
The reason is probs the equivalent for stages of Ridley for characters though; maybe "if we made Bowser's castle a level characters could easily traverse at their leisure then it wouldn't be Bowser's castle anymore"

I think it's more the "first stage" syndrome Smash seems to suffer from. Most stages are just the first level/overworld. Mario is especially susceptible to this.
Some series, like Zelda and Pokemon, manage to break this, but that's probably because places like Ordon Village or Pallet Town wouldn't exactly make interesting places to fight.

It seems more like Sakurai just feels like he has to represent the most iconic or representative areas of each game that's featured as stage, which is why most Mario levels are based on the initial environments and DK stages are always jungles. The set up in Melee, where each series had two stages, one standard and one that mixed up things could lead to more variation, although even there we got some stages with similar themes, like DK just ending up with 2 jungle stages. Of course, then he goes and makes some stages breaking that pattern, like Uprising's 3ds stage, Magicant and Gerudo Valley. Thinking about it though, they're all 3DS stages, so that might have something to do with it. Although I guess one could also point out New Pork City in Brawl.

Another minor thing from stages that bothers me is the game the stage is said to be from.
Temple and Hyrule Castle are both from very specific games, and yet they both claim to be "Zelda Series" stages. Maybe it's because a Temple and Hyrule Castle have been in various games, but those stages are pretty clearly from Zelda II and Ocarina of Time.
Port Town is literally ripped directly from GX, and yet it says its origins are the "F-Zero Series"
Peach's Castle is the weirdest one. It's clearly from Mario 64, and the origin logo is from Mario 64. Just without the 64 in the logo lol.
It's oddly inconsistent, which is strange because for music the game origin is always exactly where the song originated, even if the remix is a remix of a remix (like Big Blue being a remix of the X version of the song, but it's listed as technically coming from the original F-Zero). This tripped me up looking for Fountain of Dreams because I forgot it was a Gourmet Race remix, and didn't originally come from Kirby's Adventure.

There is literally not a stage I want more (Although I'll gladly take the Casino Night Zone as an alternative). Granted, I really wanted N's Castle and a Game Boy-themed stage, and was disappointed by both, so maybe there'll be some obnoxious hazard that'd make it less fun to play?
I'd be wholly in support of this if Bayonetta wasn't a thing and would also be a SEGA rep. But she is, so Segata Sanshiro can get back in line.
I mean, either one would be incredible. I was more of a Spyro fan growing up, but honestly, I'd rather see Crash in Smash. He'd just work so well! We'd probably get Spyro thanks to Skylanders, though. And thus, we'd also get Skylanders Spyro...
Seriously, though. I've only voted in the Ballot, like, 5 times. I think I can cram in a last second Crash campaign, can't I?

Gah. We have all of these upcoming dates, but despite being hopeful of DLC coming soon, I doubt any of they'll pay off...
Tamaki said the next month or two. I don't think we'll get any DLC news until at least October. A shame, since I fear that the hype for Smash will die down by then.

My guess is that Tamaki's source is someone from Amazon, as Amazon is starting to sell digital Wii U and 3DS games through their website, and that could potentially mean DLC as well.

They already have the Mario Kart 8 packs for sale, so it's conceivable they'd expand to Smash Bros. DLC.
A retailer is a weird source to know about these sorts of things, but our biggest leak came from the ESRB of all places so I'm definitely not ruling anything out.

I pretty much knew Mii was in as soon as Villager was confirmed, based on the stuff he said about Miis and Villager with Brawl. I pretty much had a Mii similar to Brawler in my mind, since I figured they'd adapt the Miis to Smash, rather than grabbing a Wii Sports moveset like so many people thought they would.
Didn't think they'd actually make three entire new comers out of it, though. Brawler probably would have sufficed as the Mii rep, but we ended up with two more characters out of it, so that's cool.

Those days were great! Our POTD threads only got locked once which is good thing, and yes moderators kept threading us once in awhile if we break the rules then we would get banned.

I'd sooner wax nostalgic about the old Next Smash Bros Speculation Threads as opposed to the post SSB4 reveal/Pic of the Day threads.
Now those were the good times, it was still crazy and speculative without falling completely to pieces because a pic of the day decided to be 10 minutes late to reveal itself.
