The comparisons between Inkling and Snake don't make a lot of sense to me, especially when we don't even know their moveset in Smash yet (assuming they are in Smash).
I'm not necessarily talking about their potential depiction in Smash Bros., just that they're combat weapon specialists like Snake. The Inklings deal in fantastical ink-based weaponry and Snake deals in realistic weaponry. Nobody else in Smash Bros. fills that niche conceptually.

Which is hilarious considering we have Samus & post Uprising Pit in the same roster.

Wait a sec. I still don't completely trust him, and I know this is a long shot for a number of reasons, but here goes.

Sean Hicks is the one that Tweeted "Why be Squids when you can be Kids," right? What if he didn't mean the Inklings or the Chorus Kids, but he actually meant Skull Kid, and he'll be revealed after the Zelda Symphony on Colbert tonight?

Odds are honestly negligible, since Skull Kid's already an AT and Nintendo was too afraid to announce Pac-Man at their own event, let alone network television, but I just thought this crazy theory might put some wind back in our sails.

Nah man, Skull Kid's an assist trophy. If anything for Zelda's announced there, it's more Triforce Heroes stuff, a Hyrule Warriors Legends trailer, or Twilight Princess HD.

Okay, I get what you mean now.

That would be insane. Majora's Mask is the GOAT and I love the Skull Kid. I still would prefer the Inklings though.

Or maybe all the newcomers are children so it's Chorus Kids, Skull kid and Ashley? :p

People are getting too thirsty for Nintendo Direct. Just let it happens and surprise us with the twitter announcement.

It's not going to be those "kids" since it's definitely Inkling (as they teased about it)

I'm going to be bummed if the rumors don't pan out. The Inklings are such a perfect fit for Smash Bros. They're like a more Nintendo-oriented Snake.

Yeah, Inkling is perfect fit for Smash Bros. That's why they would be in the game either way.

Right... At any rate, Jack Frost still is the only ATLUS rep I would be fine with. It is not that I dislike Persona or SMT, it is just that I don't want more anime people in Smash (besides Isaac, who I don't support, but who would be a reasonable addition to the roster). I understand this opinion might be unpopular around here, but one of the things I like the most about Smash are the unorthodox roster, with all sorts of weird creatures fighting each other. Characters like the Fire Emblem ones, ZSS and the Kid Icarus cast (to a considerable lesser extent) are just boring to me (and I consider myself to be a big fan of Ike and his games). As would be a Persona/SMT character. Jack Frost, on the other hand, would be really cool. Especially if he had a Black Frost alt:

Oh i'm so glad that they added another human character. Don't want another goofy animal like Wart or K.Rool or something.

Anyway, it got stuck in bottom of old page so I'm going to bump this.

Yeah, I know some of people are aware about this stage files.

Look at the stage files, as you see that there is an available slot that are untouched between Mario Maker and Duck Hunt. I'm aware that some people believe that it might be dropped stage which is Pirate Ship.

What if it's not because Duck Hunt was offered as free stage to trade off for Pirate Ship stage being not available for 3DS. They managed to have enough time to work on Duck Hunt stage for 3DS, and release it at same time with Pirate Ship.

Anyway, back to the point, What if it's a stage that are going to be bundled with a newcomer (or third party veteran) so I'm saying that it's possible that it could be Splatoon stage that might come with Inkling. (it could be any newcomer (or Snake) with their stage tho)

Why would the Pirate Ship stage be "tagged" with a Donkey Kong Country Returns enemy name (Tiki Buzz)? For the same reason the placeholders for the new characters are tagged "Mario"? Edit: Anyways, if we get a newcomer, surely they will come a new stage as well.

Tiki Buzz is just a filler name for three upcoming stages, and I don't know why they decided on that name. Maybe it's a teaser for upcoming Donkey Kong character and stage! :p

I just realized that I failed to include something in my post, where I should imply that the reason why the stage is between them because they are still working on newcomer or they held character(s) back so they could release character(s) with other character(s).

Sounds like something I would do when choosing placeholder variable names - no logic involved, its just the first thing that comes to mind lol

Technically not really. Zef tweeted about Reddit sending him death threats because of him knowing information.
Oh for fuck's sakes. All over knowing about an upcoming character in a cartoony fighting game before other people do too.

This is why if I knew something I'd probably keep my mouth shut (beyond maybe alluding to a future 'reveal' date since Nintendo's been pretty bad post-Iwata with how they handle announcements); a lot of these fanbases are fucking crazy and are going to rip anyone to shreds if they think they're withholding information.

They had a bunch of amiibo exclusives announced by the companies today.

We could get a bunch of random things announced tomorrow online. The direct was simply speculated.

Weren't all the dates for the direct and release and stuff just speculation by someone on twitter? I thought there were two seperate things, the datamined Splatoon stuff (which was accompanied by guesses at a direct date and a release date) and the Smash Bros insider info (which had a vague "soon" or "this month" ETA but no firm dates).

Or am I confused?

Even the other news like the splatoon update, the twilight princess hd and other stuff that would be shown on said direct

The Splatoon and Smash things are definitely separate. However, there are also a bunch of other things that appear to be imminent announcements that make people think a Direct is likely soon as well. Things like Nintendo's first mobile game (explicitly supposed to be announced soon), the Club Nintendo replacement (I forget if they said anything about when they'd announce this), Pokemon Z (heavily hinted at by the anime), and now the recent Twilight Princess HD thing.

Listening on the actual Gaur Plains music, I'm wondering why it was cut in Smash. The whole song fits the 4 min mark.

I think the cuts to music actually were mostly intended to bring songs down to around 2 minutes, not 4. At least that's what the cut-down versions of Id ~Purpose~ and the DK rap would seem to suggest.

On the subject, I wish the second music track for Gaur Plains was "One Who Gets in Our Way" instead of "You Will Know Our Names".

but YWKON is great. They should just instead cut the "common enemy battle theme" Time to Fight. Even PxZ2 prefers YWKON and Confrontation with the Enemy.

On the 3DS, I mean. We have "YWKON" and Gaur Plain in that version. "YWKON" is great, but the track I mentioned is just too good.

...Actually, scratch that. I would rather have "Engage the Enemy" instead of "One Who Gets in Our Way". The Xenoblade soundtrack is ridiculously good. xD

The regular battle theme and the night variation of Gaur Plain have no business being there, I agree. The medley is pretty bad as well - given the choice, I'd have replaced them with Unfinished Battle, Tragic Decision and either
Zanza
or Mechonis Field. (Actually, I wouldn't have minded it if Unfinished Battle replaced Time to Fight in Xenoblade itself...)

Some Xenosaga music would have been nice as well, but Sakurai seemed reluctant to acknowledge its existence at all.

I dunno, I actually like the medley and listening to it more the transition is actually proper, it's just that the instruments used for transition are on a more subtle note.

Xenosaga music would be random though.

Unless they reveal KOS-MOS. But then boobies and her chest blast.

With that said, WHERE THE HELL IS THE XENOBLADE TITLE THEME?

Considering the stage has Baten Kaitos music, something from Xenosaga really wouldn't be that far removed. And the series did have a DS game, after all, on top of possibly having some part in that F2P co-op disaster.

Also, KOS-MOS wouldn't have been a bad choice for an assist trophy or Mii costume - though it'd have been difficult to implement jiggle physics for the latter.

Nothing says platform based fighting antics like that piece. Really gets the heart pumping.

It can't possibly compete with the pulsating tension of pieces like 'Environmental Noises' or 'Midna's Lament', I agree.

Though even if the pace were an issue, it's something that could easily be altered in a new arrangement - if they were only to have one Xenoblade remix, the title theme would be a much better choice than the medley.
