I heard some promotional stuff they did for warioware she did super well in but it's kind easy to see when the trailer for her 3DS skin has more views and likes than the other skins released in the same batch combined

Really does seem like they might be building up to something with Ashley. At the very least, the focus on her lately given how non-existent Wario's games have been lately beyond the meh Game & Wario is noticeable.Was checking the warioware forums and noticed this little addition to the japanese badge collection thingy on Japanese 3DS... why can't we get nice things like this? :/

I'd be more upset if it wasn't Inklings. Don't get me wrong, I love Inklings, but they're a sure thing in the next game. Ridley's not.

Seems like this was one "rumor" that one person started and it exploded to a bunch of different people who all assumed the rumor starter was a legit source.

Yeah that's where I'm at. Don't mind the inkling's. But we all know they're going to be in smash. If not now for sure later. I want the next announcement to be more of a surprise.

Well, rumors are pretty believable when there's so much we know Nintendo has to announce soon, but hasn't. This type of thing seems to happen a lot when they've gone a while without a direct. I mean, right now we know there'll be news on Twilight Princess HD, several Wii VC games, Pokemon Z, Pokemon Go news, mobile games, the Club Nintendo replacement, Octolings and 2 new Splatoon maps, localization dates for several games and more Smash DLC in the near future. It's easy to see how rumors can spread when there's this much we're supposed to get news on soon.

Over these last events, I do believe that Ashley has a fairly big chance of DLC aswell as a Ashley specific game. Nintendo needs a sort've spooky game in their lineup,

- I have a bad feeling that we won't get another Direct until next year when they reveal the NX Platform. It would make sense to have your new platform usher in a new era of Nintendo Directs.
- I get there's some bad blood with Roger here on GAF, but it would make sense that he'd get such info given his connections. And if I recall correctly, Stealth did leak some stuff in the past. Plus he wouldn't censor out the name of the character from Japan Time if Roger wasn't on to something.

Outside of Ashley I was always more a Jimmy T fan because the music for his stuff is stellar, as well as kat and anna just because the whole ninja theme they have going appealed to me. I'm never quite sure what I think of Mona because they keep changing her

Even though I still think it's just a coincidence that you can hear that in her sped up tune, it wouldn't be out of character
yeah. Despite being optimistic I'm doubtful it'll end up resulting in anything smashy though, at least not for now. More likely we'll probably get a DeNa game on mobile or something with her / warioware i'd imagine. Or maybe even something on NX or eShop?

A Direct doesn't really matter for Smash DLC, so not having one for awhile doesn't affect this game.
At this point I'm more curious what the big network maintenance is for and why TPHD appeared in the game list so early if it's going to be released later.

Oh, I don't think Ashley's going to get into Smash as DLC or anything, bu if not her own game I'd at least expect her to finally start showing up in stuff like Mario Kart to go alongside Wario and Waluigi, much like how DK (normally anyway) has Diddy and Dixie tag alongside him in Mario spin-offs.

I like 9-volt's games but the character himself has always left me a bit cold. Had no idea his mum was called 5-volt until recently though. Heck, I had no idea they'd developed her far enough to give her a name
I hope I can grief my kids by beating their highscores and stuff someday (kinda requires kids first though )

Eh, when I look at DK I see a gorilla, not a male gorilla. And ROB is more of an "it". The only character I like as male is Wolf, and only because bara space cowboy wolfman is a sexy thing.

Oh, it definitely shouldn't be the only reason the character exists / is included. That's a pretty bad reason in itself. That's how you end up with 'token' characters :/
A character first and foremost should be interesting.
Funnily enough though, the examples you give though kind of highlight the issue... for all the imaginative deviation they show from being a white male human, they're still male in a roster that's stacked with males with exclusively male DLC being added so far
I wish I could type something insightful here to get across why I care ( I can't speak for anyone else after all) but it just feels like I'd be splurging out a giant novel that would utterly fail to get anything valuable across. (admittedly I'm tired as all heck right now and kinda ill so that doesn't really help me in making particularly eloquent posts at the moment XD )

This is so perfect. It even has Captain Syrup! The only thing missing is Dixie Kong.
It wouldn't be that implausible, but Mario Kart's a little weird with anything not part of the main Mario series - after Diddy Kong got his subseries revived, he was rewarded by being removed from the next Mario Kart.
Ashley and Nikki confirmed for Smash 5/6.
It's not like they've given us any reason to believe Nikki is in danger of being cut...

I wouldn't look too far into that; Diddy Kong Racing DS was before MKWii which had Diddy and Funky Kong (of all characters), while MK7 and MK8 cut quite a lot of regular mainstays alongside Diddy like Bowser Jr., Birdo and King Boo for seemingly no reason.
I'd be somewhat bitter about a lack of Direct in the near future despite the content available/making it look like Nintendo's metaphorically throwing in the towel this holiday season, but we also have patch notes for that Splatoon update. Real, genuine, detailed patch notes that go beyond the whole "Made the game more fun" bit we keep getting in Smash!
Who knows? Maybe this Splatoon update means Smash's next update will have patch notes, too? I mean, I didn't vote for patch notes in the Ballot, but I would have had I thought about it! I dunno, I'm just excited!

Heh. I'd be willing to accept ROB as being non-gendered but it's refered to as 'he' in pretty much everything ever written about it I could find, plus rob is a pretty male-sounding name so it's a fairly understandable conclusion to jump to.
I just put the whole 'lol loli porn' down to haters gonna hate. People will sometimes say anything to justify their dislike of something. Saw that crud all the time about Elin in Tera too and I just learned to ignore it. I don't doubt there probably ARE some creepy peeps out there but i'd imagine they're few and realistically that applies to anything... searching for even the most innocuous things without safesearch on will quickly teach you that

She's a blatant japanese nod to Wednesday from the Addams family: why the heck would she be spunky? That would defeat the whole point of her character :/

Ashley is popular because she's a cute girl that also serves a personality stereotype that is very well liked in Japan. She's also a character whose design is based in Western culture (Halloween, witches, haunted mansions, etc.), which is something the Japanese love very much.
And the whole "spooky" theme also is quite popular over here. She's a magic-using character which makes her stand out of the rest of the WarioWare roster, most of which are just generic people doing generic jobs (like taxi driver or pizza delivery).
If it was just being a cute girl, Kat & Ana and Mona would have just as many fans.

they should have had the trophy shop be manned by random shopkeepers from throughout nintendo history. happy mask salesman, rusty the dog, toad, etc. a different one every time you go in
I'll defer to your expert opinion.
It'd be cute, but touching up the models and creating new animations for such a small appearance would be a waste of resources. Having various player characters walking around the aisles in the background might be a good way to achieve a similar effect with existing assets.
