So late to the party that "it's all over!"... bought a GameCube

Succumbed to the lure of the MK:DD bundle with the extra controller. Interesting sidenote, the bundle with the extra controller just has the regular platinum GC box inside the larger box, which holds the extra controller and the copy of MKDD. My fledgling NGC collection consists of the following:

Mario Kart DD
Animal Crossing
Zelda WW
Mario Golf TT
Paper Mario 2

I plan to pick up Mario Sunshine, a Wavebird, and a GB Player, hopefully on Black Friday. Now a couple questions:

1) I want to pick up Luigi's Mansion, but the $20 asking price seems a bit steep for a game that should be readily available now. Anyone know where I can get this game for $10 or less? I don't care if it's used, but I do like the game and wish to own it. I'm in California btw.

2) Is Capcom releasing the RE double pack with 0 and 1 in the U.S.? If so, does it have a release date? I want to pick up RE1, but if the double pack is seeing release here soon, I'll hold out for that.

3) Are Four Swords or Wario Ware Inc. worth playing single player?

4) For multi-platform games, I always buy Xbox. But in the case of a game like Alien Hominid, which so far is only PS2 and NGC only, am I correct in assuming the NGC rev will most likely be the better version? Are there any games that are better on PS2 than NGC or should I always stick with NGC if given a choice over PS2?

5) I get motion sickness playing FPS games with a low frame-rate. Does Metroid 1 or 2 run at a smooth 60 fps at all times? Have you heard of anyone getting sick playing either game?

6) What other titles would you recommend I look into? I don't want lists of 50 GC games that I "have to" play. Just three suggestions please. I have a lot of friends who have GC games, so I should be able to borrow and play almost anything out there, even the obscure stuff, but no imports as this is an NTSC cube. Favorite genres include: action adventure, RPG, platformer, shooter, and puzzle. I am not interested in Final Fantasy:CC (don't plan to have 3 friends around who want to play that now) nor F-Zero. Thanks in advance!

1) gamestop.com?

2) It was listed on gamestop.com last time I checked for $30.

3) Four Swords is a yes.

5) Yes and no.

6) Tales of Symphonia.

Personally I didn’t enjoy Metroid Prime games I would recommend

Pikmin
Pikmin 2
Super Mario Sunshine
Zelda WW
RE: 1
Rouge Leader
Super Smash Bros (only if you play multiplayer)

0Paper Mario only just came out in Australia so I haven’t played it yet!

Do you have a link to that? I'm not finding it on there.

Thanks for the suggestions of Tales and Pikmin. I'll probably pick those up, as well as Eternal Darkness - all of these games I completely forgot about.

If you want a small list of "must haves" then get:

Pikmin 2 (you could get Pikmin 1 cheaper but the second is better and worth the extra money)
Donkey Konga (great game, even if you think you dont want it at least try and rent it if possible)
Ikagura (if you havent played old DC version)
Viewtiful Joe (if you havent played PS2 version)
Mario Tennis
Eternal Darkness (It is availble under $10 in places now and is most defenitly worth a $10 note for a good 10 hour adventure

Yeah Pikmin would be my pick of the GC games, absolutely nothing like it out on any other console!

If you like starwars you should pick Rouge Leader, it’s probably my favorite GC game with an extremely deep medal and awards system.

Not interested in F-Zero GX? Crazy!

Well.. I guess there's the obvious Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes that you need to get (they have great frame rates, i'm no expert but 60 FPS i'd assume), plus i'd recommend picking up Viewtiful Joe since it's cheap now, and if you like that you can get VJ2.

Wario Ware GC single player is worse than Wario Ware GBAs single player, it pretty much has exactly the same mini games, but it doesnt feel right playing them on a console. I was pretty disappointed in WW GC since it had huge potential. =\

I usually find that the GC version > the PS2 version with every multiplatform game i've played.

Also, check out Pikmin and Pikmin 2, and SSBM is an ESSENTIAL multiplayer game. Eternal Darkness is a great game too.

I can't stand Rogue Leader, it's terrible, the graphics are pretty but the gameplay is horrible, it wasn't even worth the $20 AUD I paid for it. I wouldn't recommend getting Rogue Leader without playing it.

Gameplay is horrible? Please Justify

Well, it just felt so... simple, empty, dull, boring, it was pretty much the same thing over and over, move to the left, shoot a few things, etc. and some of the objectives were stupid, they didn't explain them well enough and it was confusing trying to figure out what to do sometimes. Mostly I just found it really, really boring. :)

:lol :lol Like how you spelt your favourite GC game. Go spend more time with it.

ONLY A FOOL BUYS A GAMECUBE NOW!!!

Joking aside, I recommend Eternal Darkness, MGS: The Twin Snakes and Starfox. All three great games, especially ED.

Rogue Leader is excellent. Its cheap anyway so you cant go wrong for the prices. You can get Rebel Strike as well too. Both combined for the price of a cheap game. Same goes for the RE games.

Metroid Prime 1 and 2 are must haves.

Mario Party 5 is also a must have.

Pick up Baten Kaitos as well. For the music and art alone

anyway there's loads of choice

Just wanted to congragulate you on your purchase - that is weeks and weeks of gaming alone and for cheap too - you'll enjoy all them titles.

2. Both are yes.. although I didn't complete FSA - too many titles to play and it went into backlog> FSA > FFCC for single player

4. read the reviews for which version is better - the NFSU2 GC version is apparently the WORST. But yes normally, the GC version is better (Viewtiful Joe.. RE4 :D)

5. I hate FPS because of motion sickness and gameplay in general - but I played all the way through prime and again through HARD. Gameplay is SO good you'd ignore something like MSickness. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

6. My recommended titles
MGSTTS
Pikmin 2
Mario Power Tennis
Viewtiful JOE
Super Smash Bros Melee
PNo3 cheap - this game is actually quite good
Ikaruga
Super Monkey Ball

rogue/rouge it's all the same!

, it was pretty much the same thing over and over

A Wings
B Wings
X Wings
Y Wings
Plus tons of hidden craft

All play and handle very differently!

The Missions vary greatly ranging from assault, Protection to Infiltration. It’s almost impossible for a starwars fan not getting excited about attacking the death star!

Using you’re argument I could say “metroid sucks because you just walk into rooms press the L button and keep shooting”

The Wavebird will make you wonder why you've been playing with wires for this long. (Playing underneath a blanket, free to move... UNBELIEVABLE!)

I'll second a pickup of Metroid (perhaps, the best game on the system). I cannot under good thought give a rec. for Metroid 2... I have not played it yet.

My frothing demand for Ikaruga wore away after about 2 weeks. I'd look elsewhere.

Super Monkey Ball is a great game which can be found cheap... haven't played part 2... but I'm told it's even better (and yes, fun to play drunk with friends).

If you have not played MGS on PS1... I suggest picking up MGS:TT... awesome cinematics and, really, not a bad port at all.

Please buy RE:0 and 1.

In conclusion:
Metroid
Super Monkey Ball
MGS:TT

Does Metroid 1 or 2 run at a smooth 60 fps at all times

Oh yeah! You gotta give them a try. Those two games are not for everyone, but I consider them to be the best two games on the GC (by a landslide).

Since nobody else has mentioned it yet, I've gotta bring up Cubivore. While it's not for those overly obsessed with graphics, it's still got an interesting look, and there's some good animation on all the different varieties of animals. It's also a pretty fun game, once you get the hang of the controls and how the color system works.

On the downside, it's pretty hard to find.

And just to echo some of the other opinions, both Pikmin and Viewtiful Joe are great games. Pikmin 2 is also pretty good, and a lot more polished than the original. However, from what I've played of it so far (I think I'm almost at the end), it's not as good as the original.

Viewtiful Joe is just a great game all-around. At first glance it may look like a beat-em-up with some fancy special effects, but the game really gets interesting once you start learning the best way to beat each enemy, and avoiding their attacks. There's also plenty to unlock in the game, too.

However, compared to the usual games released nowadays, it is pretty difficult. I personally found it to be just right. I died quite a bit, but by the time I was starting to get overly frustrated, I managed to either figure out the "trick" to the part I was stuck at, or just get good enough at it to get past it.

However, I've seen plenty of people complaining that they were never able to get past the first sub-boss in the first level (about five minutes into the game), so if you're not feeling overly confident in your gaming skills, you may want to give VJ a pass.

I'd just like to state for the record that MGSTTS is NOT a port.

* RE0+make twin pack.. I recommend waiting for it

* SMB - I recommend asking a US based GAffer to help you buy the Twin pack. You can't find this on ebay and the twin pack is awesome value.

It's a silly game, but I just absolutely love Ultimate Muscle! for GCN. You cold find it cheap I think in some sites here and there.

Skies of Arcadia Legends
Pikmin 2
Eternal Darkness
Mario Power Tennis
Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime Echos
Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes
Paper Mario
Zelda 4 Swords
Tales of Symphonia
Baten Kaitos

and lots more :)

If you don't mind used games, you could probably find Luigi's Mansion and both Resident Evil games at a local Gamerush (aka Blockbuster) for cheap.

I picked up both RE's for $10 each there, plus for every two used games you buy, you get one free right now as well (which you could grab Luigi's Mansion as well (It shouldn't be too expensive!)

Eggo is going to play this GC for exactly one day, then get on WOW and never be seen from again in this life.

Great idea! I'll hit up a gamerush today. Forgot about their buy 2 get 1 free. I'll also check Frys to see if they're still doing 3 for $40. I can get Sunshine, Metroid, and Rogue Leader or maybe Pikmin.

Bastard! This is not true. This will be my alternative when the server goes down. While you're off hanging yourself, I'll be finishing Paper Mario 2. Thank you very much.

I do wish the mods will get onboard with this trolling business. There isn't a need to troll this thread. Its been going on fine until you came along.

When you get a GBplayer.. come back and ask us about the top 10 GBA titles.

Highly recommended at this point in time.

Mario vs DK
Fzero
Golden Sun
Castlevania (AOS) + COTM
Metroids
FireEmblem
+
Lots more

Dude, when the server goes down you will either go to work or sleep.

I don't buy this GC ploy. You have the stink of Undead all over you now.

I'd call your parents and tell them to forget about Little Eggo's anytime in the future, we both know that WOW is going to end your life.

And I wish that people would not jump to conlusions about things they don't know.

How about this one? I know him, he's a friend of mine and he is a hardcore WC fan.

I fail to see how that constitutes trolling.

GG.

Don't get Rogue Leader. It's probably one of the most overrated game on the Cube, no thanks to the Star Wars fanboys. Visuals are sweet but the game is fucking boring and overly simplistic......

I wish people would get onboard with the reading comprehension thing. The comment was clearly "Eggo is a BIG WoW fan," not, "GC can't hold your attention past one day."

60fps 99.9% of the time. You'll do yourself a disservice by ignoring these games.

Zelda Four Swords for SP only? Might not be that fun. Minish Cap uses the gameplay ideas,
shrinking and clone zeldas
, found in Four Swords, might just get that.

Haha, "us".

Anyway, I'd like to mention that the party may be over, but I'll be having sex with all the passed-out chicks until 2006. ie, there's still Fire Emblem and Zelda.

There should be no multiplatform games on the PS2 you get over the Cube and Xbox versions. For the games that don't come out on the Xbox like VJ2 or Alien Hominid then you should pick up the Cube version unless you really enjoy loading times or jaggy graphics of the PS2. Or if you are a retard and can't play on a system that doesn't have a "Playstation controller". But you own an Xbox so I don't think your a weaksauce gamer that would complain about controllers being different. Anyway enjoy your new system!

drop these.

1. this is not really a game.

2. Overrated. 5/10

3. Get the PS2 version. I have the GC one and the controls are enough to drive you mad

4. You have xbox? XBox prince has fingers (graphically better). This game is also rubbish. 7-8 hours max playtime with no replayability.
