Marconelly said:Dark, MGS2 can be run in the progressive scan mode using the blaze adapter. MGS3 runs in the full height buffer mode, so I'm assuming it can be forced in progressive too. Why they don't add the damn option to do it natively, I have no clue. Well, actually we don't know yet if there will be an option or not.

I missed this question. Yes, it was rock solid. Again, if you can imagine yourself playing Silent Hill 2/3/4, that's the kind of the 'framerate feeling' you get in MGS3. The game is so pretty, though. There's so much little detail everywhere, and due to the nature of the camera, you don't look at the objects at the closeup very often, so even though some textures are not really high res, you rarely notice that.So it was constant from your playtime?
Two questions:Is this demo supposed to quit out when you encounter the first soldier? It's happened to me twice now at around the same spot. At first I thought it timed out and went back to the menu but then when I skipped all that stuff, it happened again.
Hm, frankly, I don't know. Other than moving the SCE_DD folder first, and then the MGS one, and using WinHIIP to transfer ISO over (which really should make no difference) that's exactly what I did, and it works. I didn't change any compatibility settings in the HDLoader, btw, everything is at default. What did i in wrong way?
Thanks
This is what I've found on the PS2 CD filesystem:Marconelly, do you think that an ISO 9660 file burned on a CD-ROM in the proper order would work?
Yusaku said:This tracker sucks giant balls.
With Toast 6 Titanium, I can make an adequate ISO 9660 level 1 (Mode 2 = CD-ROM XA right?) image disc, without the Desktop DB and Desktop DF, in the proper order and without Apple extensions. Unfortunately, such options aren't available for UDF image files with that application. I will create a RAR archive from it, and once I'll be sure it works with Swap Magic (the only way I can test it right now), I will publish a new torrent...Marconelly said:This is what I've found on the PS2 CD filesystem:
The CD should be Mode 2 ISO format :
- Use ISO9660 level 1 filesystem
- Use ISO9660 character set
- Disable Joliet
- Disable any ISO9660 relaxations.
Demo burned on a disc should work, for sure (if you have a modchip). To be 100% sure, I'd use CDGenPS2 to make ISO (or BIN) and then use CDRWIN or something like that to burn it. Then again, you're on Mac, right?

Which CDGenPS2 version do you use? I have 3.0, which is the latest one.
You are right, you are right, you are right...Agent Dormer said:Good lord you people need to stop being framerate whores. Also, I doubt the demo for MGS3 has the polish the final product will have in terms of framerate issus and slowdown.
Use 3.0 for sure!! It has several improvements, most notably fixed some serious bugs that have to do with proper ISO image creation. With 2.0 you are probably better off making a BIN image and transferring that.I used the 2.0 ver.
Now I will try the 3
It's the demo... no direct link is posted, and several of us actively discussing it are buying the mag anyways. I buy almost every issue because of the demo disc anyways, but I'll gladly risk being banned if that means playing MGS3 demo a week earlierJust for fun, isn't this against the TOS?

Well, the instructions were mine, and are posted in this thread here on the third page. Adelgary just copied and pasted those instructions to another forum.Marconelly, do you have the link to the forum that was talked about that has these instructions for extracting and burning this demo or can someone give a step by step method to burning this to a cd, I don't have a PS2 HD so I can't use the HDloader. I have burned this 3 times now and no go so far, Thanks!
Yes, you have to do something - just read this thread carefuly, starting from page 3, and you'll see what needs to be done.Do I have to do anything to make this demo (SCUS_97339.iso) work? Burned it, doens't work. :/
Which tracker? pm, please. The Suprnova one doesn't even get off the ground.adelgary said:Download speeds are slow on this tracker because there is only 4 seeders, and 714 leechers (and growing by the minute) as of now... Greedy bastards![]()

Also, check the error message, you need to register with the tracker to download.
Like I said, I've bought my copy in the Montréal area. The magazine as a silver wrapping, with a huge white squary "3" (like the MGS2 logo used to promote Sons of Liberty back in 2001) on a green/brown camouflage (army-type of course). The inscription METAL GEAR SOLID is written inside the 3 (with the mention that it is the only way to play the game before it's american release).Doom_Bringer said:whats on the cover? It's very snappy. 1, 2 or 3 seconds at most, depending on the scene loaded. About on par with MGS2 installed on the HDD, from what I could tell. I have only tried it for a bit though, haven't even moved from one 'room' to another, but I've seen one scene load, one cut scene and two codecs. How fast are loading speeds on HDloader?
Wario64 said:How fast are loading speeds on HDloader?
Damn download is going so slow. Like 26 hour download slow. But I can wait.
And the tracker sucks too
But thanks for the rip, rox
It's the very beginning of the game, though. Of course it's going to be cutscene/codec heavy. We'll se how it goes for the rest of the game. He definitely was quoted saying something like "we built this whole jungle, and we want to let people play in it for a long time". Also, I remember reading that the amount of cut scenes will be less than the first MGS or around that. So we'll see.Whatever Kojima said about less cutscenes though... he must have been pissed or something
You only need to press and hold triangle button from what I've seen. There's a cool thing where you can just hold down all 4 face buttons and zoom through the codec chatter.
