I've seen enough Bethesda presentations to temper my expectations with what they show. I'll play it on launch day via Gamepass, but I'm not expecting anything more than Fallout in space.

I like the overall look, but you could tell there was something very curated about what they showed. They also showed the same planets and vistas over and over. I would have loved a slice of 20min gameplay.

Also this guy makes an interesting observation, how do you travel within the planet?

They are very tactile with quick cuts in their trailers. They have been for at least three years.

I sure hope it does. They could have made a new Elder Scrolls but chose to do Starfield instead, so it better be worth it.

Also, anything that takes away good press from Zelda is a plus.
Nintendo will never make a real Zelda game again if these garbage open world Zeldas keep doing well.

With mods, yes. Bethesda needs big help from modders on fixing their awful character designs.I think most of the male chars are ok, other gender/genders though, how the hell would they be ok with that?

You want a shot at the champ? [NG gif winner July 23]
It would Armored Core, another From Software masterpiece.

very, very good point.

Maybe they have some sort of land rover type thing, I mean they have to have something, it would be odd to just have the person walking everywhere, yet has a big ass ship lol

I means, they would be lessor then No Man Sky

Its not a deal breaker as this is day 1 fucking regardless, but I do wonder what they'll have in place in regards to mounts on land.

It is an odd omission considering they've shown so much. They did tease a "force" which they didn't show, so maybe there's more.

Maybe you can also ride and tame creatures, maybe you can be an exporter of exotic animals.

It'll be tough to beat out Zelda, but in actual reality who the fuck cares? 2023 is shaping up very nicely indeed so far.

Hahaha the xbox fanboys with their hopes and dreams ! They Never played the game saw a video and the game will probably be buggy as hell and already claims it will be the best game this year ! Nah I really doubt it (but we never know) , it will probably go to Zelda or Re4.

Except unlike No Mans Sky, Starfield is being made by an experienced team that also had basically 8 years and an unlimited budget to conceptualize and put the game together.
Sorry but i've learned to doubt the abilities of such "experienced developers" and their "unlimited budget". I'll have to see it first hand.

It's funny to me when people get hyped over curated pre-release content. Have a little skepticism please
Where’s the fun in that?

Tbh, I’ve been jaded and too cautious with expectations about so many games for too long. It’s good to let hype have its way every now and then and this is one of those few times where it just feels right.

this year we are getting the backlog of titles delayed because of the coof. It's unusually competitive but that doesn't speak less of any individual game.

Not sure why Spidey is getting laughed at in the poll, the first one was fantastic and this one should be too.
Heard the story was amazing, but couldn’t get into Spiderman as much as Arkham Knight or even Insomniac’s prior works due to the gameplay not engaging me for too long.

I know I’m in the minority, but I’d rather insomniac focus on non licensed games where they have a ton of creative freedom

What time is it?
If Oblivion, Fallout 3, Skyrim and Fallout 4 can win game of the year awards from media rags, I'm sure Starfield can too.

I mean, the game is going to do gangbusters, I would not be shocked if ToTK and Spiderman 2 pretty much take the majority. Especially with Spiderman's popularity

Yeah I dunno why SM2 wouldn’t be in the convo if SF is.

TotK is gonna run away with it because it’s the highest rated game this year and is enormous in terms of content.

I think SM2/SF are low 90s max

Lol no. First of all to compete with Zelda it needs to be polished day one. Bethesda track record show us that is not probably. So no. Goty will be Zelda.

Flashless at the Golden Globes
Oh I don't know, journalists love them some Nintendo.
Nintendo hasn’t won a goty award since zelda botw six years ago. They lost to skyrim in 2011. Handing out tens and actually giving gotys are two different things. Rdr2 reviewed better than gow 2018 but gow ultimately won more awards.

That said, it’s hard to say until the game comes out to really see the critical reception and fan reception. It’s possible that despite everything they have shown the game doesn’t blow people away and the more polished and fully realized zelda takes home the big prize at most publications and websites.

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
Tears of the Kingdom will be GOY of the year even though I'd personally rather play Starfield.

Starfield needs to score 90 or above in order to compete with ToTK at GOTY, same with FFXVI

Bu that's unlikely knowing how bad Bethesda games run at release.

Yeah, like the way I get hyped from a demo, is when a dev does it the way Cyberpunk, Bioshock, and Half life 2 showed their game.

In the 50 min Cyberpunk demo, they showed you what their quests were like. You wake up at v's apartment, extracted the girl from the bathtub, met dexter deshawn, went to meredith stout, did the maelstrom piece. It was all one quest and the game introduced you to the world, storytelling, and dialogue choices like you just started it.

Half life 2 had us at getting off the train at city 17.

Etc

I still think this is an...effort from bethesda. But they hide shit sometimes...like bad quest design and writing. I wasnt too thrilled with them bringing up procedural generated planets and points of interest/missions on said planets. That means bad quests lol

I loved the idea that you can choose to dock onto other ships and invade them. But then they showed a quest and it was a fetch quest lol but they were more excited to show the gunplay lol sigh. I fear this will have alot of systems and exploration, combat. But the things you are exploring FOR and the context and storytelling will be bland. Like skyrim, fallout 4, and everything recent they've done.

I also think the lack of intelligent alien races is a massive missed opportunity, i.e. mass effect 1.
