The amount of secrecy that went into every single distribution of script (and sides) was unbelievable for this episode. Double secret probation.

How Opie's story went from the start of the series, I fully expect his corpse to be dug up next season, desecrated and dumped in front of Lyla's place as a result of yet another dirty play by Clay. Was the solidarity guy Azazel from Supernatural?

Now people can stop complaining about Sutter's inability to kill off major characters.

Great episode, and next weeks looks just as good.

For real. It's actually been a bit funny to watch people go "Sutter will never kill off a main cast member!" the past few weeks.

No! You fucker! The absolute best character on the show? He deserved more stuff to do with the club. I felt like he was always on the side. :(. God damn it

OPE

NO

I was just thinking he was about to finally turn full gangster and do some bad ass stuff this season.

Honestly I'm a little pissed. Ope was far more interesting than Chibs. But something needed to be done to light a fire under Jax's ass I guess.

Three seasons thrown away for a shortcut on character development. Welp.

Top RT'd Tweet on this episode mentions how it "can really make your inner racism flare." I think I'm done with this show and its fanbase.

And let's not forget who convinced Opie to rejoin and go into prison.

The same guy who put a hit on him.

The same guy who killed his father.

Clay knew he couldn't have Opie on the outside as he embarks on his mission to take back the club.

Screw you, Clay. I haven't bought your sad sack act.

(and that is I think how Sutter wants us to feel)

Fuck. If I didn't love this show so much I would drop it right now. My favorite character. :(

Also I believe Jax really doesn't care about Tig anymore.

First he killed Opie's wife and now he's responsible for Opie's death.

who does care about Tig?

he's been a bitch/scumbag since episode 1.

the fact that his daughter got burned alive doesn't change anything considering he brought it upon himself

what does Jax tell Tig at the end? my dvr cut off after he talks to Chibbs

also, gemma needs to go..

Maybe next time don't spoil that somebody is going to die. Just let us be surprised?

yeah seriously, ivysaur you're kinda being the "i know something you dont know" type in this thread

i was basically just waiting to see who was gonna die, although it was obvious about a quarter of the way through

Told him to back him on every vote

MAN, WTF. I seriously can give two shits about Tig. This dude has had the innocent wife of his brother killed, his daughter, the daughter of a crime lord, and his brother because of his blind loyalty to one member.

Prison stuff was great, the Gemma stuff sucked. It's about damn time the club was forced to do what so many other clubs and gangs have had to do: sacrifice a member in order to 'right a wrong'. For too long, SAMCRO was special, always managing to avoid that while demanding it of others. I hope this has a profound impact on Jax and his running of the club, that this stuff lingers. Hopefully the idea of handing Tig over to Pope down the road is something that permeates the season, forces Jax to revisit the concept of sacrifice without having everything chosen for him.

Oy... that Gemma stuff...

You sure as hell can't blame anyone for it, however, especially after season four. That was practically criminal.

If only Ope had finished the deed with Clay. Then that stupid lie about who shot him would never have been told and Tig would never have acted like a stupid child and start a war. I would have killed both Tig and Clay over that shit without hesitation.

Ugh, that link posted earlier combined with this episode's intro montage focusing so much on Opie pretty much ruined any surprise for SoA's only meaningful member death in 5 seasons.

But anyway, Opie will always have this scene, probably one of the most satisfying moments in television ever.

Can't really blame people. Play an episode from season 1 followed by one from season 5 - the dynamic of the show has barely changed. Kurt's baby is more successful than he could ever dream, but now it's like he doesn't want to risk committing to anything for fear of making the wrong choice. Last night's episode comes across as an angry reaction to everyone teasing him about this ("That character we've been torturing all series? Hah, dead!").

What would be great, ~15 years from now when SoA is long dead, is for Kurt to make a Kill Bill style TV movie featuring Opie's orphaned kids as murderers trying to track down every living Son to seek revenge..

Even though I saw it coming, it didn't make it any easier to watch. Poor Opie, he deserved better.

How was he done in? I probably won't start watching this season at all but I really would like to know how one of my fav characters was offed.

I thought this wasn't as bad as when Lem died, AGAIN, as someone else, by a random land mine. Sutter doesn't just kill main characters, he brings them back to life and kills them again.

It was kind of obvious since last week that Opie would sacrifice himself. Still very sad now that his kids are orphaned and Tig is basically useless now as a character. He can't get Opie's forgiveness, he no longer trusts Clay, and Jax is only going to keep him around long enough to fulfill whatever club agenda he needs to pass.

Nero's escort service getting raided was kind of random. Judging by how the officers had guns out and even shot one of the men there, they probably are investigating him for drugs or something, which is confusing since it seems Nero and his gang are only in the "companionship" business. It's possible that Clay gave a fake tip to get back at Nero, seems like the type of petty shit he would do.

Everything with Gemma-Wendy-Tara is pretty messy, boring, and useless. It didn't really go anywhere and Gemma is so much better at manipulation that I'm trying to think that there's some plan here we don't know yet, but I'm guessing the writers just ran out of ideas. And Tara's death threat was completely out of the blue, that skeleton has been out of the closet for way too long.

At least the rest of the season will have a lot of revenge to deal out. First with the corrupt guard and then eventually we'll see Damon Pope get his head caved in. The thing is Pope seems too smart to let the Sons ambush him. There's probably going to be a massive showdown or montage. And ultimately, Clay will survive again. Unser too.

Damn. I was really hoping it wasn't Opie. I liked that storyline/relatioship with that porn who who had a mega ass.

Fuck.

The only thing I really didn't like about Opie's death is the overall shitty arc for his character. Got completely shit on by the club and then dies for them...

yeah seriously, ivysaur you're kinda being the "i know something you dont know" type in this thread

This. All the talk about this episode seriously lessened the impact significantly. We spoiler all talks about the previews, but pointing out one episode to look forward to is just as bad if not worse.
