That's why I said "too little, too late."

I think I eve said earlier in this thread how badly this show needs Opie. They killed Opie and Tara and lost anyone with an actual moral compass, so now instead of "biker tries to make good by his dead father by righting the club he loved" it's "biker murders people, then a montage." Even Bobby Elvis was kind of a moral person there for a while and they just threw that out completely in favor of him just standing in the background while Jax acts like a remorseless animal.

I just don't understand how Sutter let it get so far away from his original vision. Are they going to throw something out there at the end to make Jax have an epiphany and realize how bad he has gotten? Maybe have his kids be killed or something? Sutter just doesn't seem to have his heart in the show anymore. Even the chase scenes don't seem to have a spark and are half hearted.

Has it moved from the original vision though? For all we know this was Sutter's vision from the start. Has there been anything to indicate the show moving away from his original vision?

lol at the reactions so far, I won't be watching this episode till later but I just thought it was funny that the only two reactions have been "yikes" and "yuck" probably doesn't bode well for this episode?

Fucking pointless episode. Nothing of importance happened other than Elvis losing an eye and Abel finding out his grandmas secret. Pretty much all filler.

Fucking stupid. 90 minutes of Gemma being intolerable because the club is pointlessly secretive and ominous about having her help a junkie handle her withdrawal. To call it contrived would be the understatement of the year. We even get to the stupid moment when Unser tells the club that Gemma's oddly distressed, and Jax orders Bobby to drive up there and make sure she's okay. Hey, again, a simple fucking phone call and one sentence describing why she's heading to the cabin would clear all this up.

I could hear the editors screaming out for help during the multiple long, drawn out, fruitless conversations. "Please, won't someone let me cut out all these insignificant lines and pregnant pauses? I can't put this shit on my reel!"

Juice manufactures a reason to go to prison, so he can maybe take out Marilyn Manson and redeem himself to the club. Uh huh.

Oh, and that cop who got shot isn’t going to testify against the club, because she loves Charming and apparently the Sons are the heart and the soul of the town. Y’know, in seven seasons, I’ve yet to see a good justification for this affection the locals apparently have for their chapter of Murderers Who Sell Guns And Sex Inc. Maybe the porn studio creates jobs, I dunno.
This show hasn't even feigned giving a reason for the town to put up with SAMCRO since season two, let alone succeeded at providing one. This officer witnesses them dealing with Neo Nazis and then gets shot half a dozen times and racks up some quality time in a coma. Her partner straight up died. But hey, she kinda remembers Jax from high school, so no biggie. Fuck the law and protecting the town, this can slide.

That part just made me laugh.

I'll only be satisfied now if Abel is the one who ends up killing Gemma. Let's get full on stupid.

Dear god this is sinking to new lows every week.

Ep title: Greensleeves. Features a side story with a character literally named Greensleeves who is a abusive jewish pimp who Jax murders. But also features Katey Sagal sining the titular love song Greensleeves over the ending montage. I'm not sure the symbolism could be more confusing.

Let me guess. It was littered with ethnic slurs that are somehow okay because Jax is the good guy.

- Drink every time you hear "leverage".

- Biggest truth bomb in this thread (credit to who said it first) is that Sons is a giant MMO fetch quest chain "I can't help you until you bring me 6 redneck livers". Is there a trope for this kind of lazy plot style?

- What the fuck has the Sons done to keep Charming "whole"? Remember, the show has a compressed timeline, so it's seven seasons of cartel-levels death and destruction over a handful of years.

- It's hilarious how unselfaware the show is by having the nerve to establish characters like Greensleaves with cartoon villain-esqe introductions. Does Sutter think the audience still holds the Sons to a higher moral ground?

- I at least appreciate them cutting to the chase with Juice and not even pretending anything to do with Tara's death was going to get resolved. I've said it half a dozen times in these threads, but Gemma's in until the final episode.

Anyone who says this show has not hit Dexter-levels of awful just has to consider that a cop who was shot in the back and her partner killed is not going to say anything because she FUCKING WENT TO SCHOOL WITH THE LEAD CRIMINAL!!!

Name me one scene in Dexter that was less logical or worse in any way than that?

Yeah this was one of the worst episodes in the series. These bloated runtimes do not help at all.

Low points:

-Greensleeves and his girl, two pointless characters we spent like 20 minutes on. I also found it hilarious that Jax and Nero are trying to convince this girl that she's safer off the streets. "Come to our brothel where ALL our girls just got straight up murdered because of stupid gang war bullshit!" It's also hilarious how fucking hard they have to try now to make it look like the Sons are morally superior to grimey characters like this.

-After all the potential tension and climax revolving around Gemma, Tara and Juice, she's going to get caught because she blurted out a confession to a toddler. What kind of stupid contrived writing is this? Why did Juice, who was almost murdered by Gemma, not tell Jax what happened? That whole situation was the only real tension this season has had so far and it fizzled out because everyone turned stupid this season.

-As others have mentioned, the bit with the cop that got shot. So your partner is dead, you've been in a coma and you have evidence that the Sons were there. But you're not gonna say anything, because Jax went to high school with you. Why did this story thread even happen if it was going to be resolved in such a stupid fucking way?

-The "leverage" stuff against Marks is dumb, I can't even remember why the Sons are rebelling against him, and I can't believe they were surprised when they got that box with Bobby's eye. Stupid moment all around.

I'm on the verge of just dropping the show because no resolution to all this bullshit can be worth having to go through it in 90 minute chunks of nothingness. The show has never been intelligent, but there's just too much dumb shit going on and any momentum the show had coming into this season is now gone. At least it's going somewhere, I'll see if the next episode actually starts moving things towards a sensible conclusion otherwise I'll just read up on what happens.

Abel is going to be a stone cold killer straight up. Kid just has dead eyes already.

And yeah, Gemma's singing there at the end was just distracting. Not in a good way. Really killed an otherwise decent montage.

God, this show has really turned to utter shit. Most of it has been covered, but the contrivance of getting Gemma to the cabin so she'll confess to a toddler and the cop not talking because she went to high school with Jax and loves Charming were especially egregious. I can't believe, after everything that they've done, Sutter still wants us to seriously believe that the people of Charming adore the Sons. It's absurd. And even though it was a bit silly in delivery, at least the stuff with Bobby indicated that the show is willing to out at least one member of the core crew in danger of dying. After Tig took a shotgun blast and survived I was beginning to think all these dudes were immortal.

The only thing that will save this for me is if it goes full Shakespeare and everyone dies at the end.

Way too much padding for the final season.

Pointless Pimp & Hooker adventure, the nonsensical leverage on Marks, and the charming Cops keeping quiet for reasons. People are right, this is Dexter S8 again

It's funny that they're supposedly still working on an SoA game because I can imagine that's about how the game mechanics would be.

The acting on this show has become so cringeworthy I have to turn away at parts.

Any scene involving the kid. Can't watch.

Any scene involving the black mother and her son where they are trying to cry (which apparently is every scene they are in). Can't watch.

In fact, pretty much any scene involving a non main cast member is unwatchable. Not that the main cast are the second coming of Bryan Cranston, but at least it's passable.

That combined with the ridiculously degenerating writing into unbelievable farce has really put me off this season. The Sons at this point have brought terrorism, sexual exploitation, mass murder, drug distribution, political corruption, and just about everything you can imagine to that small city. At this point they could be comparable to ISIS in the level of ruin brought, and yet we still have to pretend everyone loves and respects them? Da fuck? Even to the point where a police officer is shot and her partner murdered while tailing a drug deal between ISI-.... Sons and some nazis, and rather than use that excuse to have them all put away for good.... she decides to commit multiple felonies and obstruct the investigation into a murdered police officer (which law enforcement kind of treat as a big deal) because she went to high school with the gang leader?

Ugh.

Sigh, I knew it wouldn't happen and yet I'm still disappointed that it didn't happen.

Pretty terrible episode overall.

Juice shooting at cops and not only did they not shoot back but they took him alive? Come the fuck on.

The montage was ruined by Sagal's singing as well. What the hell man?

The montage is now literally the only semi good thing about the show and not only was there not one last week, this weeks end up ruining by Sagal's godawful singing.

So MC hammer knows the secret, I guess he'll be the one to cave Gamma's head in after she has Nero kill Jax? Or Jax dies of the stupidity bug that seems to be going around in Charming?

And I don't even know what to say about yet another extended episode where nothing happens. Please tell me this is the last extended episode? I can't take any more...

They've pretty much all been extended episodes since the back half of season five. Sutter probably laid off his editor/killed him and still uses his name in the credits to throw people off. Landgraf said something before the season aired about Sutter claiming that the extended episodes were needed because every moment counted, yet this show is filled to the brim with pregnant pauses and nonsensical scenes with guest stars who we'll never see again. The writing has gone to hell, sure, but this show could be soooooo much better if some restraint was exercised. Watching Sons Of Anarchy is frankly an exhausting endeavor.

They didn't know he was half-black. It's an honest mistake >____>

Every episode has been extended since like the beginning of season 6. FX must be paying Sutter good money to make these longer episodes. I feel lime Sutter ran out of material for the show with Clay's death and he really wanted to end the show at 5 but was persuaded to make more because of the money.

They ran out of material long before Clay's death. It wasn't as apparent back then thanks to Perlman and his general awesomeness.
