Sons of Anarchy - The 7th and Final Season - Tuesdays on FX

I'm also shocked Sutter managed to get
Vic Mackey to do a cameo

I was shocked when Chiklis just ended up being a decent human being and didn't try to rape Gemma so she could kick his ass in one of Sutter's patented "Hey, my character may be a piece of shit but watch her kill this bigger piece of shit" min-arcs. Would have been a very "Sons" moment. Sutter utilized admirable restraint with that cameo.

I know this probably isn't a good place to ask because of spoilers, but this topic was where I actually decided to watch the show because I saw someone refer to the first seasons as a cool drama.

I'm absolutely loving it- just finished the first season. It completely surprised me, I had no expectations and I'm sad that I missed out on such a great show for so long. I love dark dramas and boy did it deliver.
But of course the reason I'm here is because of the prospect of watching the rest of it.
I read alot of the reactions here to the later seasons, about how bad- to outright terrible- the show became, about how the characters don't act like themselves, and about how the show dragged on for far longer than it needed to (I feel like it would have been perfect with 2-3 seasons at most).

Is the pay off in the 7th season worth suffering through the rest of the seasons, and watching something I'm loving just turn into something I could potentially barely stand? I know I should just see for myself, but how low should my expectations be?
I read that the episode before last was pretty great, so that gets me excited, but all the predictions for the ending gets me worried... I'm off to sleep, so any words are appreciated.

-I was also inspired to get in here because I just saw John's grave, and the date he died is my actual birthday, 11/13/1993 which is pretty darn surreal.

The 7th season has been a culmination ofeverything that's bad about the previous 6 seasons. Quit after season 2.

I've been so removed from this show. Refresh me what it was.

Jax got involved with Stahl in order to bring Jimmy the IRA guy into ATF custody so he could be able to go to Ireland and find his kid without getting in trouble for skipping their hearing on the weapons charges from S2. None of the other club members knew about this, and Gemma was worried they'd think Jax was a rat and would kill him if they found out.

When Stahl got Jimmy she tatted Jax out to the club anyways and they were all YOURE DEAD while getting loaded into the party van on the way to prison. But then the club members not going to prison ambushed and murdered Stahl and Jimmy, tore up the document noting Jax's involvement, and when the prospects following the van honked their horns, Jax and the club turned to the camera and were all GOTCHA, even though there had been absolutely no foreshadowing of this twist at any point in the season beforehand.

I was wondering when Vic Mackey was gonna make his cameo.
all the rest of the core Strike Team already had. I didn't even recognize him when he came to Gemma's car the first time, it wasn't till he came to the table that I realized who he was.

I have to say that Wendy was lookin damn good at the end of the episode. She always looked pretty crappy on this show, even though she was gorgeous on The Sopranos. Count me in on the "heart issue" theory. That leg spasm wasn't for nothing.

One job.
You had ONE job.
ONE JOB.

HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU SCREW EVEN THIS UP?!

You don't confront Jax with Gemma; You don't have Jax kill Gemma and COMPLETELY IGNORE THE DRIVING FORCE AT THE CORE OF THIS SERIES WHICH IS GEMMA'S PART IN THE MURDER OF JAX'S FATHER!

This has been THE SECRET of the entire series from the get go. Did everyone at the writing team forget this? The ORIGINAL SIN at the heart of the show; the moment everybody were fantasizing of - When will Jax learn about it and him killing her because of that. Where is it?! All gone. S6's finale has hijacked the entire final season and now it has done far worse - it hijacked the climax of the entire show.

Gemma dies because of last season's events instead of the deed that accompanied Sons of Anarchy since its birth and for seven long seasons. THE moment. Squandered and trampled away like a misdemeanor no longer cared for or even acknowledged. This is just incomprehensible. I don't care if they will bring it up next ep. Anything other than being laid-out in Jax and Gemma's encounter is trash.

And they were so close to. The scene was good. Jax couldn't pull the trigger the first time - a perfect setup for Gemma to go: 'Well, if you need more motivation then's there's this:____" - and that's what drives Jax over the edge and makes him pull the trigger. That's the perfect way to acknowledge the importance of both events and bring it back to the JT's death and treat the history of the show with the respect it's ought to be.

What they did was the clear opposite of that. A Travesty.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with patching in the Grimm Bastards. What law stopped Chibbs from becoming president?
seeing how racist these guys are I'm assuming there's something. Maybe no irishman allowed or something.

what leg spasm lol I wasn't paying attention. When did it happen exactly?

I'd say that Charlie got the limp from flexing his ass muscles too much.

Yeah, Wendy should have the limp.

As far as the homeless ghost, I always assumed she was a Jesus metaphor, but she seems to show up for no reason. Another thread that went nowhere. I wonder if Gemma will be the homeless ghost now.

Maybe the homeless ghost is Gemma if she didn't get involved with the club.

Ed Sheeran sung the hell out of that song at the end of the episode. Such an amazing song, wow.

OT: its crazy to see people on twitter saying sons is the greatest show ever, WTF??

A quick heads up to everyone - there was a Sons of Anarchy book released early that contains spoilers for the finale. Just wanted to warn you to be wary of where you're surfing on the web for the next few days if you do care about being spoiled and also point out that spoilers won't be tolerated in this thread. That's all.

Really happy with the final 20 minutes of the last episode. Stuff that should have been delivered with better pacing throughout this year, but whatever. At least its done

The 'ghost' has been known to be Brook's mother since last season. She supposedly 'died' in that 'accident' that killed JT. How the heck did she live and nobody noticed or what the heck they buried, is beyond me.

I thought the point of Gemma going out on her own terms was a bit too forced and kind of took me out of the moment. Having her actually face Jax and silently emote without all the extra verbal encouragement would have gone a tremendously long way to making that scene have more emotional pull with me. I was nearly expecting her to say, "c'mon Jax, don't be a pussy. Do it for mommy!"

Good riddance to Gemma, a one-woman plague that destroyed the lives of nearly everyone she came in contact with.

Jax is probably gonna go the honest route with all the gangs and people in his life and then the mayhem vote will go through and he will die in a 10 minute montage. Then the show fades to black. Should be a decent ending. Hopefully his kids get to hang out with nero and wendy.

JT's manuscript is probably going to be read by everyone.

But isn't Jax getting killed anyway?

Also, did they explain what law Jax wanted banned? Did I miss it?

I don't think Jax will die. There are three ways it could go...

He finally gets his dads manuscript and decides to fundamentally change SamCro
He leaves with Wendy and lives the life he wanted to with Tara but couldn't.
He's forced out of the club and leaves.

His death would feel forced at this stage, there's no real reason for it to happen. I guess the heart issue that some talked about could play a part, but I think we'll see him either up and leave or decide the club needs to be reformed.

He will get killed because he killed another prez. No way he get a get out of jail free card.

Yep. He will die but he will die a martyr, classic Sutter right there. He'll leave JT's manuscript with the club or with Chibs who will become president.

I don't know, I think he'll figure a way out of it.

As I said, I feel his death at this point would feel forced and unnecessary. He's irredeemable and on the verge of being a full on psychopath, his death won't garner any sympathy, just as Gemma's didn't...as much as Sutter tried with his pulling on the heart strings when she was with her dad and the final scenes in the garden.

Saying that, if there's any way to handle his death , it should be at the hands of the heart problem. Perhaps have him suffer a heart attack that leaves him in an almost vegetative state?

He will die because of is thirst for revenge . Killing a member for no good reason is not something that can go on punished in this serie. Live by the creed die by the creed no other way around IMO.
Clay got Iced for all the shit he as done, same will happen with jax

Dammit stop reminding me how good season one was. And two is even better. Three is still pretty decent. Just check out after that.

It's like we've been sticking around off the strength of those 2 seasons. They're like a distant memory now. It's jarring watching clips of those old episodes.

I was SO happy that Chiklis turned out to be a nice guy. I too was immediately worried that he'd be some scumbag.

Fuck, new week soon and the finale episode is upon us.

You better stay of sites about Sons though, there's this book thats been leaked and in there is a bunch of stuff about the finale.

It's been a long ride.

I'm crying.

I'm almost tempted to seek this book out and spoil myself so I don't feel the crushing sense of disappointment when the show ends in a ridiculously stupid way like Dexter...

I don't know how it's going to end but Ill take a wild guess that in the last episode Jax asked the club presidents to change the "rule" that relates to who's going to carry out the Mayhem.. add the possibility of outside groups carrying it out. In his case it might be August Marks in exchange for club safety.

Sutter had two good episodes in a row and apparently isn't capable of any more than that, because the new ep was a turd. He spent two episodes trying to make Jax sympathetic again only to have him kill Unser, the person most loyal to the Sons, in cold blood. Then, he murders his own mother and goes home horny as hell.

Deaths mean nothing in this show anymore. Unser's was too nonsensical to care about, Juice's was just there, and Jemma's was uninteresting. That scene was begging for her to admit to Jax that she helped kill his father when he hesitated to kill her, but apparently even Sutter forgot that was an important plot point.

I have to assume you're crying out of relief because this awful shit is finally finished.

Oh shit, there are finale leaks on the Internet now? I'm curious because I just want this shit show to end, but I'm having too much torturing myself these past few months with this show. Its a sick and twisted thrill..

It was heavily implied that was Mackey (four kids, ex-wife, big hat and glasses to avoid police attention, "been on the road too long"). Raping Gemma would have been out of character. I would have preferred if The Shield's ending had been left alone.

Even if this was true (it isn't and nothing about that is specific enough to suggest Vic Mackey), it isn't Sutter's character to expound on, so it would have nothing to do with The Shield or what happens after the finale.

I feel the same way. I honestly wish I had just stopped watching it after the second season. It hasn't lived up to the potential it had in those first few seasons. Many of the actors are great though. I'm excited to see them in something better.

My friend mentioned that he thought Chiklis was actually playing Vic Mackey "on the run" and I thought nothing of it, but now it does kind of make sense, but I'm sure it wasn't meant that way. Fun to think about, though.

I think it's the race bylaw. See Jax wants fair treatment for all colors and creeds!

This would be amusing given how Juice's entire character arc for 2 years was wasted around this issue. How he was haunted because of his lineage. And then they turn around and be all like "we're the most progressive murderers on the planet".

To me it seemed like it was going to be the other chapter presidents who would do it, which would fit in with the general stupidity of the show.

Why not have the main character meet his end at the hands of a bunch of guys we were only introduced to in the last few episodes of the final season?

Makes sense with the dumb shit Sutter has thrown at us and the way he has treated the whole audience like morons.

Honestly, the only way I'm satisfied is if Jax gets a Robocop style ending. I'm talking the murder scene in that movie 25 years ago that scared the living daylights out of 5 year old me. And they even have the right guy available to direct the episode...

I agree 100% and whenever I mention that show and people say they want to watch it, I tell them to stop after season 2. It just dropped in quality so hard that it just became a guilty pleasure honestly.
