I have a friend who I really want to introduce to this show. But I feel like I'd only be setting her up for disappointment. I think I might tell her to quit watching at the end of the third season. That finale was incredible, and the show could have ended then and there and been remembered far better than it will be now that it's dragged out so far.

I think he realised something was up when he stabbed him with the fork at the end. Someone as big as that guy should have been able to have done a lot more damage...

I didn't read any doubt in Jax's face, but who knows.

Oh. He is? I didn't watch the preview, but that's very disappointing to hear. Ah well, hopefully we get the confrontation at some point, would be terrible for the show to end without Jax having it out with Gemma once and for all...

I would be surprised if it doesn't happen, but in typical Sons of Anarchy tradition, it'll be long delayed and the immediate instigation will be stupidly tangential to the bigger picture.

skipped most of season six but the OP kinda caught me up...debating watching this one go out but part of me kinda wants to let it end & make sure it's more on shield's level of finales than say dexter

Let's see: godawful musical montages, pointless disgusting violence, stunt casting, and characters doing completely stupid things that make no sense... yep sounds like a SAMCRO episode.

1 down 12 to go.

Watched the premiere. Felt really bloated due to the length. Pretty boring too. And man some of these characters are dumb. I'm curious how they finish it out, but pretty blah premiere.

I was kind of going into this season expecting it to be better with Tara and her drama gone, but lo and behold, we're off to an uneventful start as SAMCRO tries to find Tara's killer. Plus the worst cover of Bohemian Rhapsody I've ever heard. I realized I really don't have any sympathy left for any of the characters except CCH Pounder (hallowed be thy name). I'm hoping the club gets wiped this season, it's the only ending that won't be a disappointment. Kill Jax, Tig, Chibs, Bobby...spare Happy and Juice. I wanna see the negative repercussions of their shitty "lifestyle" explode back in their face in a major way.

I don't expect a final season as stupid as Dexter, but anyone who expects a Shield-level send-off is delusional (not addressed at you, so no offense). The Shield had the tightest final season of any show in history, IMO.

Everyone is immensely dislikable now. Don't know if that was intentional or not but it sure is hard to care what happens to any of them.

The Shield had one of the most perfectly paced story arcs ever seen on TV. Asking anything to emulate it is crazy.

Being the final season I had hoped Sutter could throw away the same turf gang war stuff we've been seeing since the first one (or at least give them some weight) but I was wrong. The show is just too long for its own good, bloated, inhabited by characters that should be dead from years spinning in circle waiting for one more Jax's masterplan or Gemma's mindgame. It's a shame, the first three season were really enjoable. The fourth season was a mess, it could have been the best but the refusal to kill off Clay turned it in a joke. The fifth and sixth seasons had some good in it, especially in the first episodes (Opie's fate and the war with Irish), but in my opinion they both run out of steam going forward. I just hope this one can provide a good closure for the series, but this episode is not encouraging at all.

Didn't the DA say that they found no evidence at the scene? I know they didn't find the murder weapon, which makes sense as Juice ditched it in the dumpster.

So why is there a carving fork in the kitchen when Jax is torturing the Chinese guy? Did someone replace the carving fork? That would imply someone noticed it was missing, which would imply that they know what the murder weapon is, which they apparently don't.

AND if they don't know what the murder weapon is, and the carving fork didn't get replaced, then why is Jax deciding to kill the Chinese dude with it? He obviously does it intentionally, but how does he even know about the carving fork? Autopsy?

What am I missing?

I wouldn't say it's was afwul, it was watchable, but it was 30 minutes too long in other words it was boring. I had problems with writing, they used "shit" in this episode so much, it has to be a record. When the first montage came up i laughed.
There is a difference with using excessive violence as a plot device and using it just for a shock value. Threesome and Jax killing that guy were for a shock value.

Was that his house? My initial thought was yes, but then as I was looking at it, I didn't think the kitchen layout matched at all.

Wow. Just watched it. What garbage. Show was on for 2 seasons too long. Trash. Everybody better die, there is no coming back from this., ruined so much character development in one episode.

Imagine how much better this show would be if they killed Gemma in one of the earlier seasons. This stone cold killer is the biggest mama's boy sometimes and it's mind boggling.

The only reason why I'm sticking it out for this final season is in hopes that Gemma dies the death she deserves.

I thought it was, but I'm not sure. It makes sense from a 'symbolism' point of view ("kill the killer in the same way, at the same location"), but I don't really know.

The Shield ended up having the perfect people to counter-balance each other. Ryan's too schmaltzy, Sutter's too crazy.

oh, agreed - shit was amazing in both not going the way you expected & being so brutal too. made wire, breaking bad & a lotta fantastic shows feel soft in their finales by comparison - honestly if this ends half as well i'll prolly be happy

I really can't deal with how stupid it is for Gemma to start a war with the asians. What reason was there for her to insert herself in the situation at all? She could've just pretended to have been chilling at home when Tara died! If it was some "Jax needs murderous closure" shit, at least don't indicate a rival gang they're already on shaky terms with. Gemma is not this stupid and it was frustrating to watch.

Jax isn't stupid enough not to even ask the dude ONE question either. Come on, Sutter.

I have to believe it's the long con from Jax. He has to know she's lying, I'm just waiting for the confrontation...

I was thinking it almost the entire episode, but why would he fuck with Lin like that? Seems so crazy.

I'm also inclined to agree with this completely. It was so weird when she walked up to give that BS story. It was so unconvincing, and yet Jax bought it? Eh.

I don't know why but I got that feeling too but I know I'm just hoping.

The alternative is that he suddenly became a lot more stupid since Tara died and that doesn't seem at all believable.

I think he's had enough of it all. The club, the other gangs, he's just looking to bring it all down no that he's lost Tara and that promise of a fresh start somewhere. That's what I like to believe anyway...

Right now I'm fully prepared to believe that Sutter is willing to change any character (even Jax) to be as dumb/gullible as needed in order to keep Gemma relevant until the very last possible minute of the show.

I love how, just to rub it in how often Gemma seems to be in the right place at the right time throughout the series (how many times has she intercepted a delivery for someone else?), he does it twice in the first episode. First she pulls up just in time to see Wendy, then she tells Jax that she just so happened to be around when the hitman left Tara's home.

I'm just kinda treating everyone like Happy now. We've always known that he's pretty fucked in the head and will do some really horrid shit. But he's hilarious and you don't take him too seriously.

The characters were on the edge when the last season was winding down, but now it's clear that Sutter wants them to be completely unlikeable. The way they handled the situation with the accidental murders showed it.

I truly hope that isn't the case, but it's also hard to argue against it after this episode and how Jax acted.

I'm still choosing to believe that Jax is playing the long con though and we'll find out why he's really attacking Lin and his gang soon enough.

Fuck Gemma. Please god let this be jax playing the long con. That concocted story coming out of nowhere was terrible. Felt bad for the Chinese guy. Also fuck unser, always making trouble for himself and others with his noisiness.

Unser getting himself killed before the cancer does = actually hilarious.

Well, I'm wrong. That's definitely Jax's kitchen.

Great plan to murder someone else in your own home where there was another murder 10 days earlier and who knows if police will ever reinvestigate. Nothing could possibly go wrong there.

That was bad and that torture porn montage.... stupid.... as was said already, yea. Don't ask the guy any questions?

Zaph

if that was the guy who killed your wife would you ask questions?

Of course. Even if you were 100% sure the witness was trustworthy (Gemma lol), wouldn't you want to at least know who else was involved? What if he had an accomplice she didn't see? Is there anything else planned against his kids?

If I was 100% it was the guy who killed my wife maybe not. But if my 'known-for-being-full-of-shit' mother suddenly remembers it was that particular guy who is coincidentally sitting there at the party was the one she saw near my wife's house then yes, yes I would ask questions.

I thought it was lame. Only really watching because I already dedicated a whole bunch of my time to the previous six seasons.

I feel like I don't understand why anyone is doing anything anymore. I can recall why this guy is killing that guy but an actual believable and interesting direction for the club seems long gone. It feels like every faction has backstabbed and then forgiven each other a million times over. I can't keep track of who has deceived who how many times and why the hell anyone likes or trusts anyone anymore.

Add to that that anytime there was any intensity it came across as overwritten and hammily acted. Something that I didn't really ever feel in previous seasons.

Watched the episode last night finally.

Damn the montages! I figured Sutter would go all out, but that end really drug on.

Anyway, other than that, I liked the episode. Sutter is going to take the slow burn approach, which I'm fine with. Building up for the inevitable Gemma showdown, which is going to be glorious.

first episode sucked. its shitty writing that Jax didn't even talk to the guy Gemma set up as his wifes killer. i know the writings been going down hill but c'mon that was just eye rolling. also nobody is really remotely likable anymore on this show, not sure if thats on purpose or ,again , it could just be the writing lol.

I love how Jax spent years trying to convince the club to go legitimate and turn away from violence, and now he's tossing a lot of that aside and everyone's onboard. No second thoughts about seemingly starting up a whole new gang war. That's sure to help the club.

No mention of the atrocious use of special effects when the gang drags the gang banger in the wheelchair down the street?
