Sony Dual Shock 3 - Who's importing?

I see Play-Asia have both Black and White DS3's in stock and ready to ship in 24 hours, but i live in the UK where they won't supply.

Dammit to hell. I'll just wait. That's just too much for a controller.

Well $69.90 or £33.77 is nearly the same price as the Six-Axis here in England (£35).

Well ,thanks to Marty Chinn's idea,i've send a charged email to YesAsia and they have cancelled my order.
Mine (white DS3) is on its way thanks to DJMizuhura:D

Oh eeee X_x Sorry about that. I live in the US.

I bought something at Play-Asia recently and when I get the package I'll use their coupon for the controller.

I doubt they're in any rush to bring them here, seeing as one can walk into any store and see plenty of the normal sixaxis on the shelf. you think they really want to markdown that soon? :lol

Play-Asia sold out again pretty quick, hopefully YesAsia fulfils my order right quick. Got a receipt for oct. 14th.

FWIW I put in my order on the 10th and it's currently at Ready to be shipped status, so hopefully all the people that pre-ordered around then will get them in the next week or so.

I got mine.

It's...ok.

I think PS3 developers only had a week or two to throw rumble in so all the current games I've tried (haven't tried Motorstorm/Resistance yet) feel pretty half-assed. Uncharted good, but not great. Though I think that might be because the rumble is weaker. I think the rumble might be around Wiimote levels of shaking, which is waaaaaay below X360 rumble overkill.

Ratchet seemed weak. From what I could tell, no rumble at all during cutscenes. During gameplay just explosions/missiles/bolt bash.

GT5p rumble is terrible if you've used a FF wheel. On my wheel when I drive over those red/white bump dividers I get CHUGCHUGCHUG like a car rolling over speedbumps. On the controller I could barely tell there was rumble at all. Only time you notice the rumble is if you bump into a car or wall.

I tried Silent Bomber PS1 and the rumble was ok. I think it's definitely weaker here than a DS2 which was already weaker than an X360 rumble.

I'm not exactly happy with it, but it's better than nothing and should slightly add to games. Also I much prefer the light-weight Sixaxis. This just feels like a PS2 controller, not a next-gen controller.

So glad I waited before I took the plunge on the Dualshock 3. Here's hoping the efforts from developers were half assed vs. the controllers having weaker feedback. If the later, please let the US version benefit from a slight upgrade given the delay...

I don't care as much about strength as I do about the rumble not feeling and sounding like what it actually is (electric motor buzzing + rotating weight). I think DS2 was actually the only controller so far where rumble could in some games feel like there was something more sophisticated there than just rotating weight. I hope DS3 for example has even more silent motors than DS2.

The controller Rumbles when you accelerate and break...it's especially noticed able when yon have to brake heavily.

I think you've been spoilt with the Wheel, I think GT5 is awesome with the DS3.

I received both my DS3s today (1 from Play-Asia, 1 from Japanvideogames) and after playing with them for a bit, I have to say that I really missed rumble. Feels really good to have it back. :D

Ditto. Japanvideogames is the shit. Turned it around to me on the east coast in about two business days. Feels sturdy and the L2/R2 feel a good deal less mushy at the bottom of the press.

Ok tried God Hand on PS2 with DS2 and then on PS3 with DS3. Rumble strength seems about the same or close enough that I really couldn't tell the difference. Guess DS2 rumble has always been pretty mild, just never noticed it.

Also it's weird seeing how little games used to use it. Here I thought every game was like X360 titles where they rumble like crazy, but in God Hand there isn't rumble for any of your attacks, or the enemy attacks unless the are big round guy size.

Also God Hand is still so awesome.

I checked them out but they are charging just way too much, especially with their ludicruous shipping prices compared to all the other places. Well, guess I'm doomed to wait for my order.

Really? DJ impressions where quite the opposite. Who's lying here?

I don't think there's any lying either way. I'm just not noticing much in GT5p. I mean DJ said there is rumble when you accelerate and brake, but in the 1 car I tried there certainly wasn't. Maybe I picked a rumbleless car (used the ISF? one).

I'll double check on it.

Motorstorm is pretty good. Especially if you turn the vibration up to HIGH.

Nice about Motorstorm. Does it rumble while driving or just when crashing? I think Eurogamer said the latter.

As for GT5, there is an option dedicated to the rumble thingy in the Options screen. Did you try that out?

Motorstorm rumbles all the time. Whenever you go over rocky terrian, land from jumps, bounce off bumps, crash, etc...

The option in GT5p is just on/ff for rumble (which seems silly on the PS3 since there is an on/off option in the XMB when you hold the button down).

Did you experience any BT drop out/spazzing during your playtime with the DS3 btw?

I went back and used the WRX

Times when you feel rumble:
-Acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear. From 3rd gear up there is no rumble as you accelerate. It's just the early burning rubber when you start
-Braking. Moderate rumble.
-Going over the red/white bumpy things. Low rumble is you are going fast, moderate if you are going slow.
-Hitting something = hard rumble.

But going 100 mph and hitting the e-brake and sliding in a circle = no rumble :P

It's ok, but I don't know how people can enjoy GT without a FF wheel. I really wasn't a fan of GT5p until I hooked up my wheel (and turned it to 720p since 1080i had looked bad).

Just got mine in, and it's pretty much like playing with a 360 controller now on my PS3. Same virtually the same weight, and the rumble feels similar too (may be the same technology, but it definitely feels like an improvement over the old rotors in the DS2). It doesn't help that I ordered it in white either ;p

First of all, I simply cannot overstate just how absolutely unbelievably awesome it is
how the Japanese do not wrap their video game accessories in fucking bullet proof containers like they do in the US
. It really makes a huge ass mother fucking difference.

I tried it on the Uncharted demo and it was implemented extremely well. You really don't notice rumble until you miss it, and you really don't know how much you've been missing it until you feel it again. It's hard to say how big a difference rumble gives to the experience of a game, but it definitely makes a difference. Welcome back D;

Yeah I actually went and showed the packaging to someone and went "THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT. US PACKAGING = CUT MY FINGERS F$@K F@$K F#!K!"

another one joins the cause to promote God Hand's pure awesome.

now if only Capcom will take notice and get PlatinumGames to work on God Hand 2 for PS3, but even if they dont, its ok because God Hand is already damn near perfect the way it is.

Rumble works great in Motorstorm, and it hits you pretty regularly, and not just when you crash. GT5 is a whole new game with rumble as well. Uncharted works well, especially when your health is down, it'll start thumping like a heartbeat.

Now I just hope they patch Warhawk and CoD4 soon.

Also, even without rumble, I really like this controller more. I have the white one, and it actually has almost a rubberized feel to it. Also, the buttons seem nicer, kinda like the new ones on the Slim PSP. The extra weight is welcome, and the controller feels touhger as a result. This is the controller that should have been packed-in at launch.

I'm not the only one that noticed that the R2/L2 have less mushiness to them right? This was big to me considering I hit R2 probably 200+ times in a typical PES game.

Soooo, can't wade through all these pages atm, so I'll simply ask again:

1) If I want a white controller to ship to Sweden, what online retailer should I use (apparently Play-Asia won't ship to the EU)
2) Will a Japanese controller work without any problems whatsoever on my European PS3?

Yeah, I noticed that the triggers feel tighter as well. I kept trying to compare them directly with my SIXAXIS, and they did seem nicer.

yup :D

If the hardware works perfectly fine for the other consoles then why the hell aren't they being sold in Europe/America?

Sony would be making a lot of money..

My order on YesAsia just changed to "Ready to be shipped"

Might I get my controller by Thanksgiving? :O

probably not

Might shipped about a day after it changed to Ready, so...maybe.

That sounds pretty cool if it rumbles every time your car bounces off bumps in the road. I should be getting Motorstorm in the mail soon from Amazon and I really want to get another controller now you guys are making me want to spend the extra cash and import the DS3 :P

What kind of shipping do they use? I'm in California so it's about as close as physically possible, but I half expect them to ship via freight or something

I'm in the same boat as you are. Mine just turned ready to ship and I also live in California. Here's hoping!

edit: Quick question, does anybody know if this rumble is only for PS3 games? Will it support rumble from PS2 games at all?

so people are paying 70$ for rumble? wow.

you make it seem like this is a rumble pack or something, this is a another fully function controller.

this is going to be my second PS3 controller means now I can play against friends and such (I held off buying a second controller so I can wait and get one with rumble).

at most, people are spending ~$30 extra to get the controller in advance by a few months and in some cases an exclusive color (white).
