what could've they possibly done to make infamous so jaw dropping? or do they have something else besides infamous?

Dumb question that has to be asked by a new NeoGafer:

If someone was going to go out and purchase a PS Vita possibly after the Sony E3 conference (assuming there is a price drop), should I get the only WiFi version or is it worth it to buy the 3G version?

If I purchase the 3G version do I have to pay a month 3G connection?

I have 3G, only thing it help is GPS. But who needs that when you have phones. Pretty much wifi everywhere unless on the road.

I'm so upset right now, learning just now that i have to be at school at the same time that the conference is set to begin on monday... mighty mad.

You will be probably be able to watch it fully, just after it ends. Use the spoiler free E3 thread, avoid visiting any gaming website and enjoy it as if it is live. Problem solved. :D
I know its still hard to miss the live reactions :/

What do people think will change with the PSN as a whole after E3?

I've heard that they may go for either multiple PSN subscription tiers or try to monetize the hell out of it (like M$) like having multiplayer behind a paywall.

Personally here's my suggestion, keep the standard PSN as it is with the free multiplayer, etc. Instead of multiple tiers keep PSN+ but raise it's price slightly by $10 or $15 and add in the Gaikai streaming support with it.

I feel yeah, I'm going to be on the road from 3 am to around 8-9 pm on monday, plus the possibility of no internet for some days after. So i won't know about E3 news for a while :(

Online play will still be free. Streaming and things like Gaikai will probably be Plus exclusive features. Thats according to what have been said here, pretty much confirmed really.

I thought that the cutscene (probably running on the game engine) looked pretty good.

If in-game, it still looks as good as that and runs at a silky smooth 60 fps... I would be damn proud of it as a developer.

(For clarity, I am NOT a game developer).

It's been confirmed by GAF's insiders that online play is not behind a paywall. We got that as much, and that's all I need. A bonus would be uploading videos for free.

i have seen the trailer yes, it was impressive, but jaw dropping? i expect something more.

I guess I can't fight this logic. Just remember, this are the first games in the generation, which already look better than most games we've seen.

The general consensus is that the basic functionality (including online play) remains free, but all the fancy new stuff is behind a paywall. Which sounds reasonable, tbh.

I completely forgot about Dragon Age 3. Its a given that it will be at E3 according to tweets I am seeing. My bet is that it will be @ MS conference. Or at EA's one.

No more Infamous for now please.
It is great, it looks great and it will be a great game for the PS4. We have had interviews, videos and other looks at it.
It will be seen on the floor, it will be seen in montages and in many other outlets so give other games a chance and let games be seen.
Ah what the hell am I saying, I will be all "Sqeeeeeeee!"

You're welcome!

I'm not sure if he was being funny, or actually hinting at something though is my only concern. People on here seem to trust his info and comments, so either way it's definitely interesting.

Yeah, I hope he wasn't being funny or cynical. He's one of the good insiders.

EDIT:
Eh, I think he was joking there.

He's joking. That's way too big a story to causally mention on GAF.

Well, my realistic expectations is that he was joking, but the gamer in me wants it to be true.

Thanks.

Pretty much that's what I suspected all along, I was just listening to a British gaming podcast today and the subject came up with some PSN suggestions, just wanted to know what the word was on the PSN as I haven't seen it come up recently in discussions.

I want to see a gameplay demo of it. I think this press conference lends to that pretty well.

Two teams, two games? It's all the rage now.

Oh. My. God.

TBH it painfully obvious that Valve would be with Sony in a strategic partnership, they need a leg up on the whole Steambox idea. If it doesn't come out by the end of the year it's dead in the water as for as the gaming community see it. I suspect they will use the Gaikai SOC (Sony will license it off) in their own Steambox later on but the PS4 will simply be streaming Steambox (I.E. Your PC does all the work, PS4 just displays it on TV).

I might just have to do that, come back home, go to the playstation blog, and watch it as if it were going on live, visit neogaf afterwards. Even if i tried going on neogaf at the time the conference is going on, i'd probably wouldn't be able to get access going by previous experiences.

Looks to me he is talking about how the PS4 interface going to be Steam like to tell the truth .

What ???
We have seen like 3 mins of Infamous and it was not even game play.

Have there been any solid rumours or hints about The Last Guardian at all, or is it just speculation so far? That could make for an excellent "one last thing" reveal if it turns up.

Also, as a general note: I think anyone hoping for DRM related info in the press conference itself will be disappointed. I don't really see how they could work that in, especially as they can't just say something like "PS4 has no DRM" (as that is clearly nonsense - you won't be able to just copy discs or backup your PSN games for example) and they can't say that there are "no restrictions on used games" as there will no doubt be online passes, third party authentication systems etc. That sort of information will come out in post-conference press releases and interviews, the best we can hope for in the conference itself will be confirming free online play and region free games, as they can be bullet points or even throwaway remarks in a general introduction/talk.

Depends where you live (I think in the US 3G is really pricey and only on monthly tariffs?) but I'm in the UK and you can get any PAYG SIM and just top it up with a bit of cash for when you're away from Wifi, which I find useful (though I don't have a smartphone so I use my Vita for email/internet on holiday etc as well). You can't play online (other than asynchronous stuff eg Everybody's Golf), so it's just for checking leaderboards and PSN messages, which hardly uses any data so it's really cheap. It all depends how often you're away from Wifi and if you have a smartphone or tablet though.

One other thing to mention is that you also get proper GPS support with the 3G model, which allows you to use maps and has some (minor) bonuses through location tracking in some games.
