Because the enemy of my enemy is my friend?
Portal 2 was fantastic and the Steam integration was great.
It is a partnership which benefits both and hurts none.

Indeed. I love the Steam integration in Portal 2, it's damn great and works fluidly.

Unprecedented partnership!

Yeah, Unprecedented because Sony would be giving all their digital sales to Valve.

Who said they're competing?

Valve are going to do this out the goodness of their heart. They will want something and that means less profit for sony.

Steam integration is not the same as allowing the Steam digital store on the PS4.

So is verendus really trying to puss everyone off? Why would he leave such a statement?

I hope he gets banned.... Or there tears of joy

i don't believe verendus is nothing more than a big sony fan, but who knows, i misjudged thuway (sorry about that dude!) and kotaku these past few months. I hope i'm wrong though.
didn't fail with aegies though :)

Valve was one of Sony's biggest critics early last-generation, so it'd actually make sense for Sony to ask them for advice/help in some capacity for the Playstation 4, judging by how they've tried to do things better so far.

maybe gopherd was thinking more in terms of interface design than steam literally being on there. like the ps4 looking more like steam big picture mode than ps3 cross media bar.

Judging by the number of F2P and indie titles announced for PS4 I'd say that one of Valve's biggest criticisms of console development may be addressed, the ability for devs to publish their own patches with no charge. That would be a godsend for console games.

I just wonder, if its true, how integrated would it be? I doubt theyd go so far as to make PS4 an actual Steam Box and I doubt every steamworks game would be like Portal 2 in that you bought PS3 and got the PC version so...what would be the point of it?

Maybe its a strict Valve/Sony thing but I dont see there being a lot of excitement anymore for HL, L4D, TF2, and Portal on the PS4...unless HL3 is there.

Steam in Portal 2 had no benefit at all to me, what are people talking about?

People as in me? Hehehe, I meant as in saves, and messaging friends. I didn't have to play Portal 2 all the way around to have all chapters unlocked and all that. And if you're into it, Achievements.

Something else that makes me think Sony won't push DRM is how they are really focusing on new business models. Free to Play is huge on PS4 and PS3 has been growing. I think they recognize that they can't force money out of consumers' hands with hubris. The PS3 taught them a lot.

Same here. Also, like I mentioned in a previous post, if they no longer are charging tens of thousands for pubs to put out patches may also make a no DRM stance easier for them to swallow.

I'm pretty excited! I hope there is no "wonder book" moment that brings the conference to a griding halt..

That came as a result of their family push last year. Right now the PS4 is aimed specifically at the core gamer, so I wouldn't worry too much about them showing any casual stuff.

just gotta survive two more days without any leaks!

hope a retailer or inside source doesn't spill the beans on ANYTHING.....

Stuff will leak Monday morning.

I'm going radio silent and staying off gaf from Sunday night until GT start their live coverage Monday, and even then I'll have one had on the mute button as soon as Keighley/guests sound like they are about to spoil some news. :P

I remember last year Gameinformer leaked AC:Liberations just before the conference. This year they leaked Respawns games for XBone hahaha Publishers are not going to trust them with new info for next years for sure. I mean even this year not much from the first party games front in the magazine.

Casual shit doesn't really have much place at console reveals tbh, those kind of customers don't purchase consoles until they're reaching saturation point and are a lot cheaper - so they'd be wasting their time.

Oh snap! Back from the dead! D:

I ment that moment where it like kills the momentum of the confrence, but I do agree with you.. there might be one or two casual titles there though.

Yeah... I think I'm unplugging from the grid until Sony's conference. Afterward I will bathe in gaf threads and eventually check in to see what happened with MSOne, just out of morbid curiosity.

What's the matter with everyone trying to make realistic predictions. Conference is in less than 2 Days. Now is the time to dream a little bigger. Hype must be increased exponentially.

My prediction:

Kaz comes out on stage.
Kaz stares at us.
Kaz introduced PS4.
Kaz says he's a playable character in The Last Guardian. In fact, his face has been rendered unto the cute katbird. This also explains the delay.
SE apologises to FF fans for Versus, and introduced FFVersus renamed as FFXV to be released the next day.
Kaz comes out again. Says he is also a playable character in FFVersus.
Kojima says Snatcher, Policenauts will be released exclusively for the PS4.
Kaz comes out again. Says he is also a playable character in both games.
Kaz stares again. He laughs.
No DRM
Used games with no hassle.
He says $299, and 'November 2013 WorldWide including Europe'.
Kaz looks at us again.
And reveals he was Kutaragi all along. 4D tech has been working all along.

I want to believe.

Add:

- Kaz gets on stage to introduce a new game from Harmonix called BreakeDancingCentral. The avatar of the game is Kaz. Kaz then proceeds to introduce the game by doing a live break dancing on stage.

And that's the perfect E3.

lol I love these shaking gifs so much.

A thought crossed my mind about Versus XIII, though. I think cross-gen is the better option because if the rumor about Sony support is true, then Square can move it to luminous completely and work on the PS4 version while Sony helps with the PS3 version. After all that money has been spent on this title, they would want it on as many platforms as possible. If multi-platform isn't an option, then this is their best chance. This appeases PS3 adopters as well as people who don't have a PS3. I know PS4 only would make it overall better, but I still kind of want to see cross-gen.

Yes, I bought a PS3 for Versus.

They should be fine as long as they aren't showing casual games. Just don't focus too much on the PS3 or the Vita, and don't spend too much time with games we've already seen a decent amount of footage of (like Watch_Dogs or AC4). Oh, and don't sing the praises of the PS family too much. No one really likes charts.
