Sony's Dig at Microsoft Thoughts ?

Not classy, not cool.

Not useful or informative.

I did not like and would score accordingly 1/10.
lol ok...

Andrew House made a one-line Jab at MS for all the flopping they've been doing. It wasnt desperate, it wasn't a focus, he didn't pause anticipating some huge reaction (which he still got) it was pure business jabbing. Nothing more, nothing less.

This thread will blow it way out of context. It wasn't a big deal at the conference, and it shouldn't be here. MS is doing just fine now, but Sony would be stupid not say "we've been doing it from the start" you can bet your savings account MS would be screaming from rooftops if Sony flipped on policies as much as them. It's an absolute joke.

It's a valid point to make, although it was clumsily dropped into the conference. Sony has had a steady vision that they're supporting quite well, which is a good thing. Microsoft's scrambling in reactionary mode, which could potentially be a trait that gives some people pause about their future plans.

Like kicking a man in the nuts when he's already down.

Didn't bother me lol. Doesn't MS do that kinda crap vs Apple anyway?

kind of unnecessary after a shitty conference.

I get that Sony is more in line with gamers attitude wise, but personally, I think Microsoft is doing a better job at bringing games.

but this is imo of course.

They're going for the jugular and you really can't blame them. Microsoft is seemingly changing course every other week and Sony's been pretty much consistent since February.

Microsoft talked a lot of shit in February when they thought they were in a strong position. They've only been silent now because they've fucked up.

They really shouldn't be throwing potshots when MS has them beat on the most important front of all: THE GAMES. The only reason that they 'won' E3 was because MS had the whole DRM thing hanging over their heads. Now that that's gone they know that their console doesn't have the legs to stand on its own so they try to still discredit MS for other reasons. It makes Sony seem desperate because they know their software lineup is peanuts compared to Sony's. Being $100 less is gonna be less and less of a plus when all the good games are on the Xbox.

they mad MS had a better showing today without a conference.
Since you ignored my last post, what about the last few months of MSFT merely playing catch up while basically buying up exclusives? You don't think it's just coincidence that they have heavy ties with EA across several games don't you?

Here's something for you to ponder and give some serious though to. Sony pays for stuff to so let me get that out of the way. MSFT pretty much has opened up its pocket book when it otherwise would have a decent but soft lineup. Sony has basically recruited indies to bolster it's lineup while not spending huge cash (yet?) on outright exclusives or times exclusives like TitanFall. As I said before, if you think Sony reeks of desperation then what must you think of MSFT?

You guys are giving it more thought than they did.

Laughed for a second and moved on.

This is the bottom line as well. Not only was it no big deal for them to say but MSFT won't lose sleep over it either.

It needed to be said. There wasn't the slightest whiff of desperation to it. It was highliging the importance of a company having a vision and goal and standing by it and how important that is for consumers. Gamers need to be reminded how important that is.

It's clever to make fun about a company who takes user feedback (yes, low preorders are feedback) into consideration to update their policies. Ok then.

A+ spinning right here.

No wonder this guy is on my list. lol

I don't see any problems with it... since for the past week MS been bashing the PS4 in their comments and telling you its just a more powerful PC

we had this in the older days... a company recognizing the competition makes a healthier market

The tone he said it and the awkward pause for applause missed the mark for me.

No issue behind Sony's reasons for mentioning it- I just don't think the guy executed nearly as well as Jack Tretton would have.

you mad MS had a better showing too?

Meh. I'd rather them improve their game portfolio and give me a reason to buy the console besides the price in comparison to the "other guy". I liked that they were staying above it and making it seem like they were doing their own thing, but they probably need to get back on defense with how little news they've been making lately.

Like kicking a man in the nuts when he's already down.
When that man is the Terminator and absolutely will not stop until you're dead? Yeah, you finish him and make double sure of it if you have the chance.

That said, House's jab was a minor one. Remember when MS said they were going to kill Sony at e3?

Do people really think that was a shitty conference?

I think some people would've only been happy if it had been an hour of games that were coming to both consoles anyways. It's weird. I loved the broad range of game types they showed. Seemed really to latch on to what a game company should be interested in.

Microsoft changing aspects that fans wanted changed.

Actually, not true. They only pulled off all the 180's and after they started accepting pre-orders and noticed the low numbers.

They listened to the money, they don't give a shit about you. Sorry to break it to you that way, but it's the truth.

It almost sounded like they're sour grapes Microsoft changed they're policies tbh.

Or just remind everyone it took MS 6 or so months to get on the same level as SONY have?

And to let everyone know that if they tried once, they can try it again in the future?

Exactly. MS is in no way better, they would have done the same. So stop white knighting.

It's not really about whether MS did this or that though, it's about Sony just looking kinda tacky for doing it. I guess I feel like, while I don't mind them pointing out that they've had consistent messaging and had a good set of policies from the get-go, it just felt forced in an attempt to laugh at the competition's missteps.

I feel like, let MS sit in their own mess. You're better than that, Sony.

On the other hand, this is probably closer to a PS1-era Sony than anything. Heh.

I like it. But, put up or shut up. Indie games aren't putting up in my humble shitty opinion. Not buying a 400 dollar console for games that my Kindle Fire could play.

childish

At E3 it was perfectly justified. At Gamescon it seemed like too much. What I did think was funny was the video Microsoft showed about listening to indie developers and asking them what they wanted to see on Xbox One and the one said "to be more like Sony!" I couldn't believe they left that it and it got a laugh out of me.

I thought both conferences were disappointing. Microsoft's was stuff we've seen minus Fable Heroes (which I'm betting will be solid now that Molyneux isn't giving them 45,000 different ideas and way to take the game) and a video about their indie policy. Sony's was also more of the same except filled with indie games I really have no interest in. I am also disappointed that Sony was padding their "32 games in the first year!" claim with 20 indie games that are also on other platforms.

Seemed legit to me.
Don't pretend Microsoft wouldn't be throwing out jabs left and right if they could.
Fact is they made their bed, remade it, then made it again. Now they have to sleep in it.

I didn't think too much of it, but this and the indie exclusivity stuff where the games are first to launch on their platforms showed me one thing, they don't care about indie devs or publishers, they just want consumer mind share.

On the other hand Microsoft only cares for Publishers, and Nintendo only cares for their devs and indie devs.

Big corporations what can you do, someone always gets cut out.
Every company's like that.

Also to the people saying that Sony has nothing to show for next year or no games in general, how many of those Indie titles are on the Xbox 1?

Also who has more 1st and 2nd party developers? Are we forgetting that Naughty Dog, Media Molecule, and SM have unannounced projects?

Isn't there a game awards show at the end of the year? The same one that showed U3?

Also isn't TGS right around the corner?

Microsoft has shown all of their cards while Sony is making you wonder what's next after this stellar generation of great exclusives.

I also heard that if MS backtracks a bit more on the Xbox 1 then Sony would be in trouble because MS' is better. That's funny, the spec sheet says otherwise.

It was funny at first, now it's just like... okay. Let's face it, them backtracking is worse for them. Microsoft were making Sony look like a clear winner by comparison, now they're looking a lot more homogeneous, especially with Sony choosing to put PSN behind a paywall. I don't doubt they'll still be the better, more consumer friendly company to go with, but I actually think Sony made the dig because they're sort of pissed they backed down.

Or they were just having fun. I think we're overthinking this a bit.

No to mention fostered great working relationships with developers, and produced very mature development tools for their SDK's to make developers lives a lot easier.

And the coup de grace - figuring out how to place a power supply into a console that is smaller than a console with huge external power supply.

It needed to be said. There wasn't the slightest whiff of desperation to it. It was highliging the importance of a company having a vision and goal and standing by it and how important that is for consumers. Gamers need to be reminded how important that is.

It needs to be borne out across the generation for it to matter. It's a specious distinction at this point.

Sony should be rubbing salt into Microsoft's wounds for the entire generation - they deserve it.

Microsoft failed at the highest level misjudging the needs and feelings of their target consumers with the anti-consumer shit they tried to pull.

They should never be allowed to forget this. Never.
