Sony's Dig at Microsoft Thoughts ?

It was funny at first, now it's just like... okay. Let's face it, them backtracking is worse for them. Microsoft were making Sony look like a clear winner by comparison, now they're looking a lot more homogeneous, especially with Sony choosing to put PSN behind a paywall. I don't doubt they'll still be the better, more consumer friendly company to go with, but I actually think Sony made the dig because they're sort of pissed they backed down.

Companies of Sony and Microsofts size almost never do anything because of emotion (e.g. anger in your example)

In this case it is more than likely a calculated ploy to try and influence the journos and industry present

Makes perfect business sense especially in the way it was worded

I love all the butt hurt in this thread because it seems like some people have forgotten about this

Honestly, Sony needs to do more talking with their games lineup, as despite having this supposed hero of the games industry cape on at every turn, their actual lineup of games doesn't look anywhere as solid as what's coming to the Xbox One, and that's just real talk.

Step your game up, literally. :)

I giggled because it seemed a little desperate. Now Microsoft will undercut their launch date. Not sure if that does anything though. Gotta love big corps fighting like grown ass kids. Microsoft needs a witty comeback like " our console is bigger and costs more!" That'll teach em.

Just a playful attack. It however shows that Sony is taking notice at Microsoft and how they haven't won't the game yet. The gen hasn't started yet so now is not time to get cocky.

So hyped for this gen.

Where's the WiiU news though? Did they had a spot?

Thought it showed how Sony's plan for conferences is to reveal very little on the PS4 side then take shots at Microsoft who has actually done a nice job at conferences this time around.

The butthurt is strong in this thread :P
I honestly was laughing out loud with my girlfriend when that happen.

Unnecessary today. It was fun at E3 but the fact that Sony feels the need to make digs at their direct competition stinks of desperation - when they have no need to feel desperate. It's like Sega back at the PS2 launch. It just felt forced today and lacked the class I'd expect from Sony.

Sony has a strong offering - so why?

Because of free marketing. Fanboys spread it on both sides, start making threads... like this one.

Pointless.

Sony already practically got confetti flying from the roof last time they did it at E3. Trying to overplay them maintaining the status quo is striking of the kind of arrogance that feels misplaced when your conference was underwhelming.
You must hate games then?

I didn't mind. But when they spoke about TV TV TV, they got no applause, it might bite them in the butt when they eventually go after the casual.

I think their focus is on games first. The big deals may be coming later but there is no doubt where Sony's focus is and has been for a while when it relates to their platforms. That was a very strong show if you like new and cool games of all shapes and sizes.

As I said in my last post, the whole thing was well played right from the beginning where Shu went right into the actual PS4 OS. No BS or fluff. Vita was surprisingly we represented as well. I am happy as one of those who has invested in that platform which has been a failure sales wise so far but has a heart of gold when it comes to SW.

It's clever to make fun about a company who takes user feedback (yes, low preorders are feedback) into consideration to update their policies. Ok then.

There was plenty of user feedback on what was even hinted at by Adam Orth to listen and change, but they still went through with it. So yes, they do deserve to have it brought up constantly.

Prediction: "Xbox Live GOLD has its imitators... but only we give you the best for your money."

I hope not because this comment would end up backfiring on them, much like the thousands of dollars of value comment.

This is exactly the issue most people who are mad at MS have. It's not like they didn't have tons of user feedback prior to the preorders. It was only when MS felt it in their bottom line that they began "listening" to user feedback. As if they had any choice not to listen to feedback at that point. That deserves ridicule.

The audience reaction speaks for itself.

You mean the awkward 2 second silence before someone randomly started clapping and everyone else joined in? It wasn't as great as at E3 where immediately after he said so everyone started freaking out.

That Blur one I've seen before and never put thought into it like that. Now that I know it's a jab at Mario Kart, that's pretty funny.

The butthurt is strong in this thread :P
I honestly was laughing out loud with my girlfriend when that happen.

Butthurt? Please. I don't think anyone in this thread is actually upset at what Sony has said, just that it was unnecessary.

Also, what the heck is with the resurgence of "butthurt" lately?

How so? It was a simple joke that probably most people wont hear, or forget about in a week or so. Sony's offering is the same regardless if this joke was said or not.

Have you seen __________?

It's just food for fanboys.

At the end of the day I agree with you. It doesn't really help or hurt much it's just a silly comment that will most likely be used down the road to highlight something dumb that Sony will, no doubt, do.

Actually The PS4 software lineup is looking way more varied and interesting then Microsoft's despite all of their money hats

Sony should be rubbing salt into Microsoft's wounds for the entire generation - they deserve it.

Microsoft failed at the highest level misjudging the needs and feelings of their target consumers with the anti-consumer shit they tried to pull.

They should never be allowed to forget this. Never.

It's clever to make fun about a company who takes user feedback (yes, low preorders are feedback) into consideration to update their policies. Ok then.

Why did they not do anything when all the negative feed started appearing back when these rumors started popping up? They ignored gamers until they saw how bad there preorders were.

At E3 it made sense to make a dig at Microsoft, but I feel like today they could have avoided it. He could have just said "we at Sony have been committed to this vision since day one," and that would have been fine. But to throw in "unlike someone else" just feels unnecessary.

what did everything think of their dig at microsoft saying we arent like the others back tracking on what we say n things.

i was surprised it was said but also think it was needed
Nothing wrong with a subtle jab at the competition. I think Sony is doing some good things for the industry this year, so I think they should be allowed to call out those that may not be(according to consumers and developers alike).

Microsoft changing aspects that fans wanted changed.

Sony removed features from the PS3 that fans did not want changed.

Oh how quickly we forget.

Hope Sony doesn't go back to it's arrogant ways.

No to mention fostered great working relationships with developers, and produced very mature development tools for their SDK's to make developers lives a lot easier.

Also the biggest accomplishment of the PS4 is ironically, the 180° changes in the xbox one policies. Without the PS4 microsoft would not have changed it.

I didn't think too much of it, but this and the indie exclusivity stuff where the games are first to launch on their platforms showed me one thing, they don't care about indie devs or publishers, they just want consumer mind share.

On the other hand Microsoft only cares for Publishers, and Nintendo only cares for their devs and indie devs.

Big corporations what can you do, someone always gets cut out.
