Sony's Dig at Microsoft Thoughts ?

It wasn't that bad, maybe MS throwing cash at all the big franchises is irritating Sony execs, I dunno. It was a very short comment at the end of a long conference.

I thought it was pretty funny. its not like they didnt have it coming either though. I dont think ive seen such a mess before a product is even released, sony would be kind of stupid not to use it to their advantage.

Worthwhile and funny.

Just goes to show Sony's dominance leading into next gen when they can make an off-hand remark about their competition and have the audience erupt in rapturous applause.

Well it's true. They've been relatively quiet since all the 180s. Just reminding people that they're sticking to their vision.

A little bit of shit talk is part of the fun. Lets not pretend its a new thing.

Only reason MS are not doing it is because they are busy cleaning up after themselves.

All of the big 3 have done plenty of dirt slinging in the past.

I thought it was completely uncalled for and promptly soiled myself in dismay that a company should talk about another company that way.

Sounds like every NPD statement Microsoft made. These companies would take advantage of everything and anything in their favour.

All's fair in love and war.

I find it hilarious that there are people that think Sony dont have anything big planned and are desperate when most of their big studios are still in the dark. MS are the ones that are desperate with all their 180s.

The comment was justified.

It was an awesome pwnage onstage in front of millions.

Or

It was a childish and immature gradeschool stunt.

Delete based on preference.

There was no need for Sony to stoop this low. With this and Mark cerny emphasizing "the most powerful console" I really felt Sony is desperate and doing all this to stay relevant.

Microsoft changing aspects that fans wanted changed.

Sony removed features from the PS3 that fans did not want changed.

Oh how quickly we forget.

Hope Sony doesn't go back to it's arrogant ways.

One thing is clear to me: people here forgives Sony's decision to take away features from the PS3, the two jobs joke, the PSN hack, the poor support for indie devs in the PS3 early days... but won't forgive MS for the Xbone policies.

Sony has done nothing wrong here, in fact they have consciously followed the golden principles marketing explained by it's guru "Seth Godin". The reason why Sony has gained so much love and attention and even converts from xbox to playstation, it's because they framed their stories within the consumer's worldviews. And what are these worldviews? a. Consumer ownership b. Ability to freely sell, lend, borrow games c. No internet required to play single player games so and so forth. Sony thoroughly understands the storytelling aspect of marketing.

I smirked. Then I laughed. Then I looked at my tv and realized that suits are not really 'bout that life. He delivered that line with the enthusiasm of a dying fish. In another thread I likened it to him going into a corner store and awkwardly trying to order a fried fish-plate. This was the life long culmination of a dude who probably always wondered what it would be like to talk shit, only to have a chance to do it and coming to the realization that like everything else in life it takes practice. Props to whoever wrote it though. I loved the constant jabs back in the day so it was entertaining above all.

It's very immature to sink down to those tactics.

Just show some games and stop the bullshit.

Seriously. I'm not going to pretend like Microsoft is somehow innocent, as they have a tendency to talk from their ass, too, but Sony needs to do more talking with their games lineup. For a system that was supposedly behind on everything, the Xbox One launch is looking surprisingly solid.

reason...it is much appreciated...

Fairly mild, considering both the disaster of design that is the xb1, and the disarray of the whole games division. They just rehashed the truth.

It was a well played quip at the competition. For one, unless you know what they're talking about, you're going to think this company has solid values because of what was said base on the words. Given the context, that we all clearly recognize the situation however, was an extra layer of humor to it.

I didn't come across well, for me.

Their E3 jab was subtle, yet everyone knew. This was "Unlike those guys, Microsoft *WINK WINK*, we don't change our policies for the better. Because they were always the better. Because we care."

It just seemed like a "Ok, they changed their policies, and are actually competition. How do we make fun of them for that", when you really can't.

Microsoft could just say "a multiplayer service that you love, with Xbox Live. An awards system that was revolutionary, with Achievements. The first step towards true virtual reality, with Kinect. Unparalleled improvements to your entertainment experience, with Xbox One. These are just some of the revolutions we have innovated in, whilst one particular competitor has simply looked at their competition, and copied their efforts. It's easy to not make mistakes when you don't strive to improve the experience gamers have, but rather copy the successes around you. We listened to your feedback, and developed the Xbox One to truly be the entertainment console for you."

Boom. Done.

Microsoft have reverted on Drm, used-games, headset, Kinect maybe, self-publish somewhat.
It's now just a huge, underpowered, overpriced box with less software support. See you in 2020, maybe.
Hyperbole, what is it?

Do people really think that was a shitty conference?
only teens who aren't satisfied until huge explosions and heads blow up in the most detailed expressions ever seen on a console platform..hint hint ND and GG next M rated game '-)

or Gears...

Halo...

etc...

conference was solid for me...B-

I thought it was a well thought-out dig. Microsoft deserved it and I thought it was interesting to see Sony not back away from taking a jab at them over it. Wasn't childish at all, like some people claim.

MS policy change: less than 6 months old.

Sony's mistakes: 6+ years old.

It took years for people to forgive Sony and Xbox one policies were only known this year, so stop this bullshit about people liking Sony over Microsoft.
