I just bought it digitally through Amazon, and while processing payment it gives me this:



Tells me no further action required. I check my order status, it says "payment revision needed". There's no way the card I used actually got declined, so what's going on? Is this happening because of something on Nintendo's end?

Nothing to do with Nintendo.
If you rarely purchase digital items on Amazon, they take additional time to verify is not a fraud/stolen card/etc. Sometimes even if you buy all the time, they still do it.

Finally went through although now I have a ton of holds on my account due to entering my card information so many times and getting errors...

This happened to me as well. 3 charges, but not a single one seemed to actually go through. Just gonna have to call it a night until the shop is back to normal. This is... the worst experience I've had with Nintendo's online infrastructure yet. ._.

Well after spending far too long trying to get the order through the Eshop, I tried purchasing the digital code from amazon. After clicking the link to redeem, it started downloading almost instantly on my switch. If you aren't opposed to purchasing through amazon, I strongly recommend going this route!

Guess I was lucky. Opened the eShop at midnight, bought the game, downloaded in about 15 minutes, and played a few matches online. Had to turn it off to sleep since I have work tomorrow but loving it so far. The game looks great too!

Thanks for the answer. Do you think the payment revision message and payment declined email I got are for real or just placeholder messages while it verifies? As of now I don't even know if anything's going to happen, or if I should try the eshop again. Or if I should just go to bed...probably that one.

Buying it off Amazon and redeeming on nintendo.com worked for me, I started downloading and it said I had a half hour remaining. Took a shower, came back a half hour later, it now says 13 and a half hours remaining. My internet is 200mbps down. Did Nintendo make some sort of deal with the devil where they did a great job of executing the basic idea of the Switch but now they're doomed to completely fuck up at every possible opportunity?
