Having a lot of fun. I just need to get to level 10 as fast as possible since I think ranked game modes are even more enjoyable than normal mode.

Ok, so wtf just happened... I played Salmon run for quite a long while this afternoon, but now playing a bit at work... this shit was way harder. Is it because it's night time? The map was at night now, while earlier today it wasn't and there were a lot more enemies around. Shit was crazy.

I call it a day at level 8 :) This game is awesome, I played with 2 friends tonight with voice chat through the Hori mixer. Everyone here should get it and use discord, this forced option for good voice chat has the merit to work very, very well. Can't wait to reach ranked as we were regularly dispatched in different teams. Should I keep the money I earned for pricier weapons, or should I spend everything now?

Yeah, that was one of the night events. The game randomly picks an event to throw at you. Which can be ramped up standard hordes to specific enemy waves like Grillers to
Motherships and Cannons.

Dualies are the best. I'm a sucker for more movement options and I love how accurate they are.

Yeah they are really growing on me as well mostly because I love being able to dodge quickly and the challenge of using the sprays coming together to hit my target or just run away and attack from another angle. Fun new weapon.

Aiming with motion control is the truth once your brain adapts to the scheme with the right analog stick. That's with the joycons as I still struggle in handheld mode.

Splatoon 2 fits like a glove. My favorite thing is just being there when someone on the opposing team launches and just firing my gun at the spot before they land. It is THE most satisfying thing, until someone does it to you.

Got my feet wet again in turf war, got up to level 5. Gonna pick up some food and jump back in. Friday releases are the best.

I just completed the whole thing once without running any stages more than once, collecting
23/27
scrolls and
33/37
of the salmon upgrade tokens. Took about 6-7 hours, I think, which is a little longer than the first game, though I was taking my time to crack open every box and take out every sprinkler (and Marie makes a few comments when you are this fastidious). The stage variety and mechanics develop along a nicer curve than Splatoon 1, where the whole campaign felt like a tutorial for the final boss (one of the greatest final bosses in Nintendo history).

As for Splatoon 2's final boss:
I guess DJ Octavio is remaining in place as the official series rival like Bowser. That's all right by me, but the boss fight definitely felt like a step down from the first game, relying on the same fist-deflecting mechanic but without all the different tests of your movement skills and zone control that Splatoon 1 took advantage of to make the fight come off as a final exam on the entire game that came before it. Part of it is probably because this shorter fight, like everything else in Splatoon 2's Octo Canyon, is designed to permit completion with all nine weapons. I would have preferred more of an all-bets-off spectacle like the original Octavio fight, though, even if I had to run it nine times. This time it just felt like one of the five bosses of the game, and I actually found Octo Shower (boss 4) to be the best of the five, as it tested a bit of everything—aim accuracy, cover and control of high ground, ink spread to keep your movement flexible, closing in on the enemy position.

I'll probably take a break from single-player before I mop up the items I missed, and I expect it will take a while to pull off a true full clear with every weapon, though of course everything goes faster when your eyes aren't constantly peeled for hidden objects.

Do you get anything for beating the single player stuff?

For your first completion, you get
the Hero Suit, a two-star gear set
. End credits are also freely accessible in Octo Valley (right where you enter) after you've seen them once.

I believe you also unlock the various single-player weapons once you clear every stage with that weapon (for a total of
9 weapons, and therefore 288 stage completions including bosses
), but I obviously haven't done this yet to see it for myself.

Lmao please people if you beat the final boss do it again hilarious.

Spoiler what's different:
dialoge changes, awesome ones

Didn't know this! I guess I'll take another crack at it sooner than I planned.

I spent a few minutes in training mode trying to really master the dodge roll. One thing that I found difficult is keeping the reticle on an enemy as you roll. Maybe I put the motion controls too high.

Also as a side, I'm not a fan of the new music. Splatoon 1's music reminded me of JSR and Tony Hawk. This has less of that feeling. Maybe I'm crazy I dunno.

Lol, I'm sure there are a lot of people thankful that the voice chat isn't there by default in-game, some posts here about new players are "fantastic".

The Splatoon 1 community as a whole was pretty nice, I hope it stays that way even with the larger influx of players.

I remember the plaza being full of warm and welcoming messages to newcomers on Christmas.

They call it Sea-bagging.

Love this game so much! No doubt an impressive sequel in my book. Loving all the modes. Salmon Run is surprisingly good coming from someone that hasn't been into horde modes for a while. And damn are the graphics nice. It looks so good on the Switch's screen.

Just played 5 or 6 online battles. This game is amazing! Had more fun than during the Splatfest, even though I'm still dying a lot. I love how fast it is.

Don't know whether to start the single player mode now or finish Zelda first. I'm tempted to try it, but I fear I won't come back to Zelda if I do...

So are there more customization options other than the store? Having a lot of fun with the game but I want more clothes lol

The clothes change constantly. They're on a timer just like the stages. There are also extra exclusive items you can only buy off of Splatnet on the Switch app.

I'm loving Buckets for now. Mostly for that killer kit of Suction Bombs and Tenta Missiles. Makes me want to go back to 1 and give them some time.

First time using motion controls and totally hated it.

Played a bit of single player and some more multiplayer and I'm starting to get it. Starting to.

This in handled mode too, the mode I was most afraid.

Is there a guide out there on how to properly use a roller? I tried one round, instantly got my ass handed to me, and noped back to the splattershot.

Anyone have a recommended sensitivity setting for motion controls? I brought it up to 0 from the default of -1 and it feels good. Wondering if anyone recommends taking it up higher though!

Stock changes at midnight.

Thanks!

I've tried dual joycons and handheld and found handheld the easiest to get used to. Dual joycons make me use way too much motion of instinct to actually be productive. I find handheld the easiest once you get used to it and fix the sensitivity. First time playing splatoon and using motion controls and once it clicked, I've been doing a lot better in multi.

it seems like a lot of the sound effects just... aren't done in the single-player?

I'm on world three right now and it's cool, but it really seems like more of the first in every way. The weapon variety will be nice for replayability, I guess, but Salmon Run really is the star of the show for non-competitive play. The enemy/arena design is fantastic.

Are there tickets in every level of the campaign?

Is the campaign the only place I can earn tickets?

I want to buy some food and drink.

Also I can "scrub" items for chunks but I only get one chunk at a time, is there any way to earn more chunks in one go?

I really wish this game dropped in bots when your team mates drop out. They don't even have to be good. 1 v 4 or 2 v 4 sucks

Weird. Had an error on reading my card. It's unbelievably hot in St. Louis today (112 heat index). Game card loaded now, I'll have to keep an eye on it.

For a beginner (already level 9) to Splatoon, how concerned should I be about items and their perks. Should I just stick with something suitable to my play style? (E.g, quick respawn, swim speed)
