Damn, I thought the enemies in hero mode could've used more variety, but I see all that work went into Salmon Run, that's a pretty awesome mode.

Just bought the game and it's downloading. I didn't play the first game, do you all recommend I just start with Turf War or is there a better option for a beginner?

A few questions, I'm new to the series, bought it for my kid and ended up playing it quite a bit myself today, lol.

-How do I evade with the duals? I do it every once in a while, but have no clue what caused it.
-Can you super jump in mp?
-The Tenta Missiles seems like complete shit, am I missing something?

Great game so far, since I can only play single player.

Don't have internet at my house so I use a mobile hotspot which is only an issue with Nintendo games. Everything else plays just fine.

Has anyone been able to get these games to play online with a hotspot? I have cricket which is an att subsidiary so not sure if that matters. I can go online and buy/download games, can see everyone's squid kids and fresh artwork just can't get into a game because "Nat traversal fails"

:/

It's unlikely you'll be able to fix this issue, often with mobile Internet you don't connect directly to the internet and get a public IP address but get an internal IP address like a 10.X.X.X IP. If this game requires open NAT (which I'm guessing it does based on that error) I don't think you'll be able to fix this without checking with your ISP to see if you can get a public IP address when you use the mobile hotspot.

So, how soon before newcomers realize how sick this gun for turf war? Then we see Aerosprays everywhere.

I partly forbid myself from using it in the original game, but I took it for a spin today. Felt as great as it ever did!

Patiently waiting for Tentatek with suction bombs sub. Gonna sorely miss my inkzooka though. :(

Picked up my copy today. Didn't have a WiiU so didn't play the first one, and couldn't get into most TestFires so I'm going kind of blind...

Press B while shooting and a direction

What abilities do people think are the best?

I used to use Ink Saver and the one that makes you invisible in ink. But reading a few posts here about swim speed being awesome has me reevaluating the benefits, as I never considered that to be worthwhile.

I've been whining about playing without the gamepad since Splatoon 2 was announced, but one night with the full game and I'm used to it. I check the map each time I die and when I have a free second on the map. And the gyro on the pro controller works just fine.

Complaint retracted.

You may start Turf War right away. Once you are Level 4, you can start buying gears and playing Salmon Run. You may also play Hero Mode, which is like a 6-hour awesome tutorial to equip you with the necessary skills to face the real monsters (the good players) in Ranked Battle.

Personally, I recommend reaching Level 4 first, then, start Hero Mode right away. Hero Mode should also help you earn several weapons and gears (if it plays like the first Splatoon).

Exact same here, was about to post that I was pretty cynical about losing the second screen since the game was announced but Nintendo managed to make it work very well. It's not the same obviously but the game doesn't feel compromised without it. I'm also glad that they brought back beakons since I was concerned about whether or not they were going to show up again.

Depends on when, where and how you use them. Don't stand in the middle of the map where you're vulnerable. Even if the opponent dodges, you're still spreading ink on their territory. They are a godsend on Port Mackeral. Pick your moment, then shoot your shot, don't just use them as soon as you get them.

Didn't realize I had to do training before Salmon Run...which is cool because I ABSOLUTELY love Salmon Run. Only did one run with others and it wasn't too bad but really looking forward to more difficult & tense waves in the future.

Only able to play in tablet mode and I have no issues with the controls whatsoever. But I did disable motion/gyro controls.

I do have to admit that turfwar can't get frustrating when 1 or 2 players on the other team just dominates almost to the point that they are cheating.

Overall.....I love this game...hell i'm tempted to play while I'm in the dentist chair tomorrow for my cleaning.

There's nothing you can do besides use a different network unless you're able to get a public IP add-on (highly highly unlikely). The reason it's an issue with Nintendo games is that they use peer-to-peer networking for basically all of their games. Games with dedicated servers, like most on PC, will work fine regardless.

From anecdotal evidence I've seen, it looks like Verizon and T-Mobile networks are open, AT&T is closed, and I'm not sure about Sprint.

Holy shit this is beautiful. Been playing all day in handheld and the battery just died. Need to get to level 10 to get my ink brush on.

Goddamn I've missed this.

How do I get amiibo items? Only have the head pieces for OG amiibo, but I saw a dude at only level 9 with full squid cyber set on.

Seems to be impossible to eat the high tier Salmon Run items unless you just grind the whole day.

Also I got a ticket from a gatcha ball... what do I do with it?

Thats that silver son of a bitch that does a fuckton of damage real fast that I get splatted to all the time. I've only been playing 3 hours but I see more and more people with that gun.

1200p bonus from Salmon Run unlocked. Neat mode. Need time for people to figure out how to play it. Stop running away with the Glowflies!

So uh, the servers are just getting nuked, right? RIGHT?

Because I can't get a connection. Always disconnect before the match is up, even sitting right next to the router.

What settings do I need to mess with on the Switch to get a stable connection here? It was "Switch to Google DNS" for Mario Kart 8, which has been working fine, but it's clearly not working here.

I hope they do more with Salmon Run, it is really cool and a lot of fun.
Still wasn't enough to keep me away from Turf War for long

I like salmon run. But how do I get that shirt? Squiddor Polo. It looks like I've unlocked it several times, but I have not. I even see it unlockable multiple times...I don't get it.

Is the story campaign mode just to save the 3 Zapfish? So it takes like 1-2 hours? o_O

No? It's around the same length as Splatoon 1 slightly longer. Took me around 5 and a half hours. Way Longer if you go for all scrolls for lore and unlocking hero weapons for online.

Thank God you can turn off the motion controls, wtf were they thinking making that standard. Trash.

I agree. I understand that others prefer motion controls; however, Nintendo should've had something in the beginning so you can choose what controls you want before the tutorial.

Marie has some pretty funny dialogue if you just keep talking to her.

Game is fun for sure, although I played the same map 4 times in a row. I mean, c'monnnnn.

You could check out the SP. Look for the umbrella lady. If you want to play online, turf is literally the only thing you can do since horde requires rank 4 and ranked requires...something higher i believe.

The original was only around 3 or so. I think this is supposed to be more in the 6 range however.
