I lucked out last night. I thought the Splatfest had another hour or so, so I played right up until the actual end, and in the last match I won, and got enough to get to the Mayo King rank. That was awesome...and then the Splatfest ended! lol

Worth trying a drink, I'd say...

Good idea. I have a bunch of Tentatek gear that needs leveling so maybe I'll do an Ink Recovery run.

I like the ability, but it always messes with me when I take it off. I kinda want to make an all ink recovery build now just to see how dumb that would be.

How's Gatlinburg recovered from the fires? Did you go to Ripley's Aquarium?

...Sorry, I've been missing that area lately. Haven't gone in a while.

Haven't gotten the chance to explore much yet, but will be interested to see. Pigeon forge is still as tourist trap-y as ever.

Used up a bunch of Super Sea Snails on fashionable items with good powers. Also, I did this while I still had white ink. Don't question me.

only thing missing is a straitjacket

Wait... really? We'll, shit.

Yeah, a lot of people don't know this though. Its not explained in game and is a remnant of S1 which had the map always accessible on the touchpad.

Oh, and on the same topic: you can aim the map cursor with gyro in case you don't want to figure out who's on what dpad direction.

I really like the white hair that Mayo gave you when the Splatfest was happening. Some of the Inklings in my plaza still have them and it looks great!

It's tourist trap-y, but I love it. Though I've been there enough to know where to go and where to avoid like a plague of redneck flesh.

It's going to be great to bring a Switch with Splatoon 2 next time instead of throwing a Wii U and controller and a bunch of cords into a Hefty bag.

I am so godddamn happy mayo won :D
You did great fellow Mayo Friends and i thank you all.

Now i am home i will play some Splatoon 2 again. Helped some irl friends with Zelda today was fun.

And tommorow or well in 9 or so hours Salmon Run is live again too wich is great.

Also read about the leaks and damn amazing....
playable octolings hype!
Oh and still goodjob team Ketchup you did great too! All players made this Splatfest amazing.

They need to tweak the rewards ASAP. The reward system is so motivating but you play this mode for 2 hours and you can literally see how they went out of ideas and just gives you the same stupid shirt over and over again and nothing else. That's a shame and such wasted potential.

But I don't really know what they could change besides different items that only look different, It's not like Items in this game have different stats or special features or optical effects, Splatoon doesn't have that and without this they already limited them self with their own limited item system. It's not a Diablo or general RPG system were we can grind for special amazing items but the Salmon run would be perfect for that, it's a shame.

I think there's something to be said about the value of user-generated content in this context. I mean, imagine if Nintendo encouraged people to come up with designs for their shirts, and winners were given away through Salmon Run.

Two Questions

1) Are their any guides to making armor builds for weapon types?

2) Does anyone have that Hori Headset? I was wonder how comfortable it was, and what the build and sound quality were like.

So, here's what I'd like to see become of Splatfest.

1. Although everyone gets to register for Splatfest one week in advance, the actual teams are assembled in the minimum amount of time required prior to

Splatfest beginning.

2. Registration is simply a "sign up" saying "I want to play! Put me on a team!"

3. There are still 2 themes. For example. Mozzarella vs Cheddar. That is simply a fun little popularity contest. Popular Vote reward yields maybe 3 Super

Snails. Here's where things get interesting and improves the Splatfest experience. The actual teams are not just "Mozzarella" and "Cheddar". The
teams are Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, or whatever Team Splatoon decides will be the background team names. They could be Fire, Ice, Wind, Water.
So there will be players of Team Wind who voted Mozzarella as well as players of Team Wind who voted Cheddar.

4. Players have NO CHOICE as to what Team they will be on (Fire, Ice, Wind, or Water). Going back to #1, teams will be assembled in the minimum
amount of time required prior to Splatfest beginning ACCORDING TO A DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM that evenly assigns REGISTERED PLAYERS on teams according
to several statistics. Those stats may look at their TOP Current Rank Class (Letter Grade). If no Rank Experience, they will be ranked "N/A" or something.
Then a formula that factors in stuff like K-D (Splats), W-L (matches), P (Turf Points), and Assists for the mode under which their Ranking was used for the
Splatfest Team Assignment process places them in a position on a leader board within their class (again, that currently HIGHEST Letter Grade). N/A stats
would be based on Turf Wars. If no stats, then they'd basically be at the bottom of the Leader board for that class.

5. From there, players are moved into teams. 1st Rank of S+ - TC goes to Team Wind. 1st Rank of S+ - RM goes to Team Fire. 1st Rank of S+ - SZ goes to
Team Water. And so on. Basically, they keep going down the leader board, evenly distributing players across the board to each team until all teams
are filled with registered players.

6. And because this idea is to include more than just two teams (maybe 4 or more), then the matchmaking will see to it that EVERY TEAM has the same number
of matches with every other team, round robin style (sort of).

7. At the end, Teams are ranked on a leader board. Rewards are delivered, 95% of which has to do with your team's position on the leader board. The other
has to do with that popular vote (Mozzarella vs Cheddar).

BOOM! No more Ketchup on Ketchup for 95% of the Splatfest! No more guessing that the other team just had way more better players...

What do you think? Helps? Hurts?

that seems to completely ruin the point of splatfest. choose what you like and fight for the team, that's all it really needs to be.

The Walmart has an airbrush t shirt store in it. Not a bank, not a glasses store. An air brush t shirt store. I can't deal with this place sometimes.

Yeah, the Switch (and this game in particular) works so well for vacation. Good way to kill time in those lazy evenings or mornings or down time.

75% of my games were Ketchup vs. Ketchup.

Are you from the US? I understand how frustrating it would be but I'm not sure what Nintendo could do about that. If one is more popular it'll be picked by more people and the sides will be uneven by default.

I only had a handful of Mayo vs Mayo games here in the UK.

I don't see how they can feasibly fix this besides giving Marina the blatantly unpopular choices, or redesigning pearl.

Well to that I say:

I had a lot Ketchup vs Ketchup in Europe as well. And the popular vote being 66% Ketchup speaks for itself.

Do that many people really pick their team based on who is repping it rather than the topic at hand?
It's not like the topic had two balanced choices. If this were Ketchup and Mustard then things would have been different.
"Popularity" really just showed which side had more supporters/participants. If anything that makes the Mayo victory even more surprising.
Mayo also had better players. Less new people and more experienced players.

Mustard also comes in many, many forms so that would be just as dependant on each regions most common mustard.

I would have picked Ketchup over Mustard because I find English Mustard to be too spicy for most occasions.

And how could we know for sure the skill of each team's players?

Not really. I image the more popular option would have a higher ration of less skilled player, and with a smaller pool, skilled players would be more likely to get on teams together on mayo and be matched against teams with fewer skilled players on them.

Not really. With how the game works, having more members isn't an advantage in the slightest.

You're only going to have as many Mayo vs Ketchup games as there are Team Mayo members.

I'm more or less indifferent between mayonnaise and ketchup - I recognise mustard as the one true god. Given my indifference, I refused to be on the same team as that gremlin Pearl even if I moderately prefer mayonnaise.

Thats not a fact though. The only thing we know is that more people were on Team Ketchup.

It could be true, but there'd have to be strong players on both teams otherwise it wouldn't have been so close a victory for Mayo.

Not saying it was an advantage. If anything it being uneven was detrimental as we can see from all the Ketchup vs Ketchup time wasted. (You got Power though, so your rank was still going up)

With one side having less they would have to fight a much larger variety of battles even if they were the same number. I kept seeing familiar names pop up in my Mayo teams but not so much enemy names.

I dunno. Maybe the more battle variety helped Mayo hold their own. We don't have enough data to go on.
