A little over a month, which maps do you guys hate? For me Morey Towers, mussleforge fitness and mainstage.

My least favourite is Humpback Pump Track. The bits down the side kind of remind me of the hallways in Arowana Mall, you can get stuck in a long fight there but not really want to give it up because that means you're letting the enemy through into your area which is not good. Other maps are better at allowing you to run away and approach the enemy from a different position. I know one tactic is to just wait in your ink until the enemy gets to your side and surprise them but that gets pretty boring fast.

Also not a big fan of Musselforge because of the bridge and ramps, it can be hard to break out when you start getting camped. Similar feelings towards Academy especially since the side areas have a single ramp to make it back to the center, pretty easy to tell where people are going to try and break out from (I like it more than Musselforge tho). I think the Reef, Academy and to a lesser extent the Main Stage can be really frustrating when you're up against a team with thrown bombs because you can really get stuck in your area. Although it's a bit hard to tell if my memories of being camped were due to my team's inability to break out or because of a dc (probably about 80% because of a dc haha).

I like the redone Port Mackerel and Moray Towers. I haven't really played enough Manta Maria to comment. My favourite is the Shipyard :) Oh and I pretty much only play turf.

I wish sloshing machine's critical hit is a one-hit KO. Or if it's not like right now, at least make it shoot faster. I love the weapon, but against a tri-slosher, it still gets outclassed because of the absurd damage and hit box.

Mussleforge Fitness is a horrible map, there is nothing redeeming about it, I would even go as far as calling it the worst map in the whole series

i really don't understand how you have such a huge problem with starfish, branduil. the centre has at least 3 vectors of approach plus it has two side lines - it's ridiculously easy to flank on that map.

Hooded Figure with a thick Japanese accent looking out the window into the pouring rain: “Make it not fun anymore.”

*new shit map released combined with shitty weapons that traps everyone back into go-getter rank, thunder claps in the background*

Moray Towers is at least less worse than Flounder Heights

Eeeeeh
For me, Flounder was a cool map ruined for a long time by Flounder 24/7 Heights. In the end, I liked it enough. I never liked Ranked Modes on it, though. Just Turf War fun.

New SR map is so much better than Spawning Grounds. That trash can f*ck off and die.

No where near as good as Marooner's Bay though.

Got no griller rounds today so 1200 points were obtained smoothly.

Finally got S+ in a ranked mode. Barely held on and won splat zone to finally break through and I had 3 cracks on my bar lol. Feels like we stole the game at the end since our lead splatter had like 13 splats where the opponent had got like 24, 17, and 15 splats for their top 3. Guess we got timely splats cuz god damn I was nervous I'd have to go back to the yellow bar and claw my way up again.

I was always put off from playing when Flounder Heights was in rotation back in S1 if only because I had no idea where to even defend and with that map style pretty much the norm for most stages I'm usually flipping tables or something in the background with the constant base invades or what have you.

It's meaningless to compare SR maps without specifying the tide. Lost Outpost has the best low-tide map, Marooner's Bay has the best high tide, and Spawning Grounds the best normal.

Yeah Spawning Grounds is easily the worst high-tide because of the grate bullshit.

The worst aspect of Lost Outpost is that it makes it almost impossible to use your Sting Ray. You need a high, safe vantage point for it but that's impossible thanks the walls. It makes it even harder to take out Fly Fish, which is why most games on the map devolve into dodge-the-missiles-while-killing-the-Steel-Eels-immediately-for-the-love-of-God.

SIX STEEL EELS AT HIGHTIDE!? Eat the crustiest part of my ass, game!

I swear one Steel Eel spawning massively increases the odds of more spawning at the same time.

I had one game where it was Wave 3, we'd met the quota and were trying to run out the clock, I just finished killing a Steel Eel when I look up and see 3 more fucking Steel Eels coming straight at me. It's at this point that I also realize all my teammates are dead. Since I obviously had no hope of surviving inside the base, I ran outside and circled around to the next door, fortunately there weren't any other bosses in my way, and revived everyone in the seconds before the wave ended. Felt good man.

The only map I actively dislike is the Reef and that's because the game always sticks me on that map when it's in rotation. The same thing happened with that stage level on Rainmaker.

Ironically, my favorite stages I have the lowest win ratio on.

Didn't know that was even possible.

Yeah Flounder Heights was def my least favourite map from Splat 1 (followed by Hammerhead Bridge then Moray Towers). Even unintentionally forgot to add it to our final Splatoon private battle haha...

Somehow doing really well today. Ranked up 2 levels in Tower Control; it seemed like as soon as I got on the tower with my tri-slosher it was over. And then I've been murdering a bunch of squids in turf war, managed to even win 2 matches in Starfish Mainstage.

Why do people use the Goo-tuber though.

Very fast sniping and effective at closer ranges. Had some success with it but not easy to be a good sniper at this game and I'm not good enough for sure. Saw one in a game yesterday that killed our entire team every encounter lol it was hell for us.

Yesterday I tried four people league for the first time. It's great when all your team is friends, pretty cool.

Yeah it seems like chargers are either useless or dominate the game, rarely in-between.

I'm guessing the good ones are Splatoon vets who have learnt that in Splatoon, even as a sniper you have to move and not just camp in one place.

The only place I can think of in this game that's pretty much always good to camp is the center tower at Art Academy.

Oh Man I love the new Salmon Run map. Ducking in and out through the holes in the side is the best. And it also seems to be the only map in which everyone understands where to go when the Glowflies happen.

I got saved by a disconnection...

Salmon run, griller in first wave ( :/ ), my teammates doesn't seem to know what to do (I spent a whole minute driving the first around till they managed to stop it) and we only manage to kill two in the 100s. Thus 6 eggs for a target of 8.

At the last second, one of my teammates disconnect (ragequit or sacrifice?), the target fall to 6, we pass (and we did wave 2 and 3 with a team of three, although it was hot)

As a sniper, I don't know... Too easy to access. I find the snipers especially annoying when they camp in a place that can only be reached by doing a huge trip when your range is limited.

Wait, the target changes based on the number of players? I did not realize that. Though that might explain how after 5 terrible teams in a row
(including me:) but getting grillers round one on that new map sucks)
the match I finally win was one where there was only 3 of us the whole time.

The secret worst part of Lost Outpost, and I don't know if this is a glitch or what because it happens way more often on that particular map, are Steelheads that make their way into the house...and then spend a solid fifteen seconds just milling around without actually spawning a bomb or doing anything. People try and keep focused on it to take it out when it's vulnerable, but for whatever reason sometimes it just won't attack, and that ends up eating precious time that allows for the other bosses to sneak in and wreak havoc.

There's been at least one round where two Steelheads wandered in and then stalled like that, it was a huge pain in the ass and by the time they started actually attacking, a Steel Eel also moved in to ensure that there was no room to do anything at all. Blugh.

In Splatzones, the centre mast on Manta Maria, too. It can be really hard to take out a sniper there guarded by an octobrush/Tri-Slosher, and they control the entire important part of the map.

Yes... If you're cautious about other people dying, I think it's easier with 3 (but as soon as there's two people dead, it's a nightmare for the remaining one). I'm sure the spawning rate is lower, too.

The problem is disconnections in the middle of a round, well enemies already have spawned.

Everyone is using the wall cheese for Goldie Rushes now LOL. Not that I mind, fuck those rounds.
Hey, I really like them, kind of being inside a tower control game, but I'm not fond of Outpost for this.

Happened to me too... But when that happen, I basically give up on the house, bringing eggs through the window behind the basket. It's a long way, but the Steelheads are usually on the lower ground (?) so I've been able to deliver them this way.

This way, steelheads take room, but aren't really dangerous, and you can get rid of the rest.

It's a great spot for anyone, as I said when they released the map, many people don't think you can (partly) hide and charge in ink ON the mast. So convenient...

I finally bought Splatoon 2. I was anxious about spending money on something I wouldn't like (online shooters are one of my least favorite genre) but DAMN, Nintendo did it again : after Animal Crossing, another type of game I usually don't care for that I am now glued to ! ;-) My (weak) mobile wi-fi is surprisingly stable and the game has so many modes (I suppose I was lucky since Salmon Run was avaible).
The core concept is brillant. Also I love how the setting is not only "trendy" but also totaly weird. Only thing I found strange is how some players seem to play this like a "shoot your ennemy" game rather than "paint everything".

Yeah it doesn't seem like a lot of people have caught on to the importance of the mast in Manta Maria yet. I imagine that will change with more experience.

You're indeed lucky... I wish you the same for the week-end, Splatfest are usually worse... In any case, welcome aboard and enjoy!

And remember, ink your spawn in turf war (and not always at the beginning) ;)

About the splatfest, I think I'll go Invisibility. Not a clear-cut choice, but I believe Fly will be more popular, so at least I'll get faster matches and less useless ones. I'd bet a dime on Invisibility winning matches, anyway (you can't shoot what you don't see ;) ).

What will GAF do?

I assume many people don't recon new maps before jumping in.

Noticed during Rainmaker many didn't take the third possible route.

Why do people use the Goo-tuber though.

I have no idea. It has one thing that that's better than any other charger, that being how long you can hold a full charge while swimming, but everything else (range, charge time, etc) is worse, and no one I've seen with a Goo Tuber uses the "hold a charge while swimming" mechanic.

Might as well stick with a normal charger or an E-Liter.

So fucking tired of these fucking useless Salmon Run teammates. Everyone playing right now is absolutely brainless, it drives me up the wall when we're halfway through the round and I'm the only fucking person who's put even 1 egg in the fucking basket. Just quit playing, you obviously don't have the first fucking clue how to play.

Quick question: Does rerolling abilities with Super Snails take into account drinks?

Like, am I more likely to get certain abilities when I reroll for the full 3 when I've drank a specific drink, or is that just for earning them the hard way? I don't want to waste time and snails if they factor in the drink boosts.

It doesn't.
