4 different games in a row where one or more people are playing ranked like it's turf wars and go paint the lower area with their rollers.

Can't people read a simple instruction geez

Did a few splat zone matches tonight. It does get absolutely hectic, even as a lowly C- rank for now.

Also the .92 gal works wonders as a support loadout for the game type. Might use it a bit more often.

Sometimes people do it to charge up their special.

Ugh. I just can't find the right weapon for ranked. Chargers are great but I never have a team good enough to back me up so I need a weapon that can carry the game in its own

Just bought the game. Should I try out single player or just jump right in?

Jump right in. You'll get the hang of it eventually.

SP can also be a good tutorial and practice of different gameplay mechanics. Maybe try the first world to feel the controls.

So what was everyone's strategy for the skate park stage in Splat Zones? I couldn't figure out a good way to go about that stage. The two zones were a huge pain.

Using the .96 gal:

I drop a sprinkler on the side of one zone, then hide in either a corridor or on top of the central tower. There are plenty of placements where the enemy can't hit a sprinkler without entering the zone, putting them at easy KO range.

When hiding in a corridor, I have an easy shot at enemy snipers who try to take the tower. When I'm on the tower, I can hop up and down and splat at either zone.

I leave cover when someone shows up to disable my sprinkler, when I need to place another sprinkler, when the enemy team figures out my hiding spot, to splat people on top of the tower, or to move to the other zone when it's being contested. Ninja Squid is a must for this strategy.

Best I've done so far with this method is 17-3.

I love splat zones. I had one match where someone dropped out and it was 3 VS 4 and we still held out ground. Lost only by a touch after the clock ran out.

Finally got my rank up to C!

I do that with my splattershot pro to fill my special guage. I can take control of the entire zone by myself with an inkstrike and some shooting.

I do that occasionally, but it's for ink strike and I generally try to stay in the splat area

There's a way to doing "backdoor" in every maps, shutdown their charger / camper and make a comeback but yeah, you need "team" in order to win on splatzone

I use ninja squid and .96 gal so I'll definitely try this. I was having a lot of trouble with chargers standing in the corridors when I was playing. I'll have to look into better sprinkler placements to bait people out.

This may sound noob-ish, but how do I join a Turf War? I've gone into the plaza tower, but I can't select the function that allows me to join in, even though all other buttons (Rules, Stage Rules) work fine. It doesn't seem to need the touch-screen either, and I don't even know if I can change control setups.

Basically, I'm stuck playing the single-player of a multiplayer-focused game.

You just go into the tower and pick regular battle. Nintendo has some detailed instructions here:

one thing i think is important in splat zones is to try and make paint corridors wherever is convenient. Since everybody's focused on warring over the main zones they often won't bother to paint over your zones too much and you'll have a few stealthy highways to pop up from here and there.

Also, I kinda feel like people are a little too obsessed with perks. Most of their effects are miniscule and are easily overcome by being a better player. Your +3 defence perks don't mean shit if you don't see me coming and I ambush you. It's just the main perks like recon, ink resist or that kinda thing that can matter, and even then they seem to support playstyles better rather than entirely shift your capabilities as a player.

tl;dr git gud

Charger weapons are pretty strong in splat zones. I'm only C+ atm but I'm happy with this win (back when I was C). Managed to win against a B player to boot!

Damn I'm on a losing streak maybe I'm using the roller wrong
Edit: disconnected sorry guys, don't worry though I'm gonna come back with my baby the aerospray

Ugggggh. I cannot get out of C rank. I get so many kills and take the zone so many times but my teams never capitalize on it. Yeah, sure there are times when I'm not good either, but what are he odds that I am always on the los my team every other match?

How can I add my NNID (piercator) to the game topic spreadsheet? I can open the page in docs but I can't edit it to add my name :/
I'm in level 17 but I would like to play with some gaffers :D
Help plz

Yup. Most of the perks -the buffs especially- are little more than added flavour to enhance a particular playstyle. Map knowledge, psychology, strategy and skill are the real weapons in your favour.

Seems whoever gets this roller on their team loses. Sigh~

Fashion > perks

No way I'm using those ugly helmets

Had two fun matches, first one made me eat my words from earlier as a teammate dropped after they died for the first time. It was a close one, but we won via KO. Second match had my opponent have three snipers in the Mall map, after I was killed, I killed two of them with an ink strike and the match ended with at least two of them trying to kill me instead of going after the splat zone, lol.

So far only perk I really like is ninja squid. That shit is great... though I'm curious how often people can spot swimming anyways... they seem pretty oblivious to it most the time.

edit: Also PLEASE nintendo, add 1 or 2 more songs to multiplayer. The song is great.. but I don't know how long I can take it.

I don't know cuz it doesn't work for me either, but add me, I'm pretty well connected now and play with them all the time, NNID is my gaf name

Got into a ranked lobby full of good players. Rare, but really fun.

Ink saving and regen perks are the ones that really matter imo.
