Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

Fun, fun, fun! Played over a hour up to the level 6. Some network errors but not a big problem as you can get back into a game very quickly. Hope they iron these out.

Rocking shades now.

Yes. And if you talk to the Cat in the lobby while you have a big win streak going, it seems like he rewards you with money. So go when you think your streak is getting big enough.

Does the streak stop after a single loss?

Does the streak stop after a single loss?

I think it just goes down. I guess it's not really a streak counter, then. It goes down like a point for each loss. But if you get it maxed out, I think you get like 1000 coins or whatever. I cashed mine in before the roll over last night and got 400, and I wasn't even that good.

When's it roll over?

Great game. Don't sleep on those motion controls, people. It's a little weird at first, but after a few minutes it'll be second nature.

Seeing significantly less rollers already. Good thing, I think. Also I haven't seen a single charger. Makes sense, but I'd like some diversity. (Not that I'm going to be using a charger any time soon, but hey...)

Single player is great. Lots of clever ideas and unique enemies. The first boss was easy, but clever.

Can't wait to play more tomorrow.

Loving it so far.

Question about SP

Is it only 28 levels? Spoiler tag answer if you know. If it's 28, that's maybe 4-5 hours.
It's 27 levels, the horseshoe symbol is blueprints that you get from bosses

I'm gonna be getting my inkling girl amiibo today hopefully, looking forward to trying the challenges and getting the schoolgirl outfit :3

So, we've got four Gaffers in this room right now, haha. At least, that I know of. Joe, Red, Smith, and BlueSilver. Any more of you guys?

But my hot streak is gone!

Aaaaannd done with single-player.

The final boss fight is rad and intense, it came down to the wire for me.

Credits were beautiful.

How long was the single player for you?? Damn everyone saying about how rad the final boss is. I'm intrigued and I can't wait to play it.

wow so it's only maybe 4 hours?? I kept hearing 10+

Played it straight to level 6 last night (almost, a few hundred points remaining), I wanted to try the single player but the online was so fun I couldn´t stop playing :) This game is really addicting and fun, you always want one more match. I started using the Splat Jr. which was my least favorite weapon in the test fires, but now I really like it (that Bubble Shield!).

No problems at all with lag or people disconnecting, everything worked perfect.

When the gyro controls are on, the right stick should still let you control the Y-axis for big movements. That is my only actionable complaint with the game so far. I do wish that multiplayer games including Splatoon didn't have unlocks at all, but I understand that a large number of people do like that system. To me, it feels like the game is then no longer about playing and enjoying it, it's just about leveling up and getting more unlocks. Games that have nothing locked at the beginning make it easier to enjoy each match regardless of whether you win or lose; playing a game with level-based unlocks makes unlocking things the goal of playing, not fun. I noticed it back when I played Titanfall, as soon as I unlocked everything, the motivation that had previously underlay the game was gone.

I actually found the testfire to be more fun in each match, because I wasn't worried about getting enough xp to progress. I was able to just play for fun. Say what you want about it being my responsibility to choose my goals in a game, I believe that underestimates the importance that game design and secondary loop structure has on user experience. The choice to have level-based unlocks in the game provides an artificial reinforcement loop that situates unlocking things as an important meaning of the game. Even more so in this game because community leveling has been required for us to unlock new features for all of us.

Really? where did you hear that from?
Most early impressions said
around 5-7 hours.

I'm looking forward to kelp dome as a multiplayer stage. Kinda weird that it's not included already since you play on it during the single player game though.

Awww, yeah! Back on top! Good job, guys. All Gaf Orange team pulled it out.

So Joe, Red, BlueSilver, Daydream, and Smith. Is that it now? What other names are Gaffers?

Wait...

Where did you hear 10+? I kept on seeing 5 to 7 hours over and over and over.

I'm a dumb person. Heard it early on when people were guessing and then never read anything else.
