I've noticed that there's a meter that goes up everytime you win a game on the results screen. Does this do anything or is it just for show?

If you talk to the cat outside the tower, you can cash it in for money. It builds the more you win, drops a bit when you lose.

Is there a way to use the pro controller as the main controller? Like I just don't have to pick up the gamepad at all and can do everything with the pro controller?

Nope. Gamepad is required.

I never thought it possible (I hate Snipers in FPS), but I've been having the most fun with the Splat Charger. Yeah, the Jr. gets more more score all around, but Splat Charger is so rewarding to have a good position to control. I hate when I have another on my team though, as it really weights down the team to have 2 chargers.

Awesome, thanks!

I'd wait until the end of the 4 hour stage rotation or your play session, which ever is later because you can only redeem it once per 4 hours and the award you get is based on your current meter. Not like it's anything significant (I've only gotten gold), but just saying what I've observed.

Definitely feeling the roller as my go-to weapon. Utterly useless at mid and long range, but makes you work for that flank sneak attack for the yummy payoff.

Been playing all day. I'm utterly captivated!

Unfortunately no.

The gamepad is really uncofrtable imo. I hate having my fingers flat across the back. I need something to grip. I really wish there was a pikmin 3 like setup where you could have the map on the gamepad and use the pro controller at the same time.

No, I go to it after every rank up (Toasty, Smoking, Hawt) and he gives me gold each time.
Edit: oh wait, you're saying he gives more based on the size of the meter? So I can get more than 1000 for Hawt if I wait?

That's what I've noticed, although admittedly I don't understand it myself, haha.

Is there any indication of just how many people need to hit Level 10 before Ranked Mode is unlocked, or is it more of a "it happens when it happens" sort of thing?

This game is just fantastic. Almost through with the single player but have to stop due to low battery plus it's getting a bit late.

All I've seen is a very vague tweet from the JP Splatoon account:

It was posted late last night, right after the NA launch, so maybe they'll post another update tonight. Regardless, I can't imagine Ranked Battles NOT being released by the end of this weekend.

I wish there were separate sensitivity settings for X and Y axis...

I'm with you.. I'm having an alright time with the sensitivity turned up and motion controls on after losing 20 matches or so in a row... the y axis was wayyy too slippery with motion controls disabled, making it a pointless option for me.

Really gotta hand it to Nintendo on the netcode because even after the demo, it's still absolutely amazing. No lag at all in a room with mostly Japanese players and this like Nintendo's first attempt at an online TPS.

The only reason I stopped playing just now is because my low battery indicator light on my controller turned red and I didn't feel like stretching a cable out to the sofa to charge while playing haha. So addictive. Only at Level 8 and I beat the first boss in the offline mode, loving this game. Had some fun with the mini Splatoon water gun Target gave me when I picked up the game, that thing actually launches water far as hell.

Keep in mind, it's not a TON of money. Approximately 100 gold for every streak rung.

thats still some new shoes or something...

I mean for better or worse I am buying all the gear I see that I like, just to test it all out. I know better stuff is coming but it's a lot of fun.

After playing a lot with the Splattershot Jr. tonight, I feel like it's a good weapon but it definitely has approach problems sometimes. Without the shield available, it's difficult to push forward through enemy ink. Ran into a lot of issues with the ranged weapons just walling me out. I feel like it plays a little like the Splat Roller, where sudden stealth attacks from the ink is the way to get people. Maybe Swim Speed Up and Run Speed Up are good abilities for it? It seems like an agility-based weapon for sure.

My only Gripe with the game is there isn't a control method for both stick and gyro. I would love to be able to aim with the stick and use the gyro to make precise adjustments. The gyro controls are really Disorienting for me as they are. Having to use up and down with the gyro when you can use right and left with the stick. It makes no sense to not have the option.

lol level 20 is too little for some people apparently.

I guess rank modes will technically be endless progression, though, lol.

Just beat story mode and I'm pretty surprised by how good it was. I was expecting to have to slog through it just to get the unlocks for MP, but it was a lot of fun.
