Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

Im pretty bad at this game. What's the preferred weapon?

Go to Sheldon's store and test out the weapons he can currently stock for you, choose whatever ones simply suit your fancy. Splattershot Jr. which is what you have from the start is a great starter weapon - it provides a good fire rate at a decent spread and comes with the Bubbler, which is one of the best Specials in the game. Use it when you're in a cinch, or if your partners are going on the offensive, throw it up and share it with them by bumping into your team mates.

What is this about?

The limit left for unlocking Ranked.

Granted, Japan posted this particular tank over 12 hours ago so we've probably reached the cap. It'll probably be available in the morning.

I used the roller for the first time today! In my first games I was doing awful but after a while I was getting many top spots in my team. It's a pretty fun weapon but it's tricky to use since the lack of range hurts it. Mindgames and surprise attacks are your best game as a roller. In Arowana Mall I loved jumping from the high walls to the middle ground and then rolling over everybody haha. I pictured my inkling shouting a warcry as he did that!

I also beat the second boss in Single Player. That mode gives me a small Pikmin vibe with the environments, the music and stuff. It's pretty cool.

1300+ with the Krak-On Roller.

I didn't think I'd be using it. It's fantastic on the Skatepark though. Having to squid up ramps creates ample spaces between the rolling to optimally reload your ink.

I have too much fun jumping off the center tower and bonking people with the roller. Or kraken'ing up the side of it and flopping on the top if the other team insists on staying there.

Yesterday, I played lots of matches where there were 6 rollers (level 10+ players mostly) on the Skatepark. That was crazy!

Has anybody come across information regarding the ports that the game needs? I am getting disconnected almost every game and google isn't helping :(

Nintendo NEEDS to throw other IP content into this game now. I'd LOVE a Mario Sunshine map or other themed maps from the Nintendo universe. Imagine....

The rig and warehouse are my favorite stages, because I know the layout/how to deal with situations thanks to the testfire :V
The other three are starting to warm up to me tho, especially the skatepark with it's high railing areas.

I really like that golden aerospray, really good for covering ground yet giving you a little range during combat. Both the mine subweapon and rocket special weapon are useful to me aswell.
Think I'll give a longrange weapon another shot tomorrow. Preferably with a sprinkler subweapon. From what I've seen those things are pretty decent at inking an area while you go ahead towards the action.

eurgh, just had a guy on my team using a charger, he was just standing in our base waiting for people to go past and never inking. what a dunce.

Also I just got my first 2 pieces of 3 star equipment with the stock refresh, yay

God this game is addictive. It's gaming smack, just hit after hit after hit propelling you into a land of beautiful ink squidy loveliness.

Many people are too concerned with their own score rather than the team. Often, when you have the upper hand, defending strategic points on the map is much better than rushing into the enemy base. For example in Arowana Mall, once you are in control of the middle section, it is rather easy to keep the enemy on their side.
I always keep myself posted on that middle section, but you really need a second person there to hold everything down. I can pin everything coming directly from the enemy base, but the side passage is really hard to keep track of.

The most depressing losses are when your team rushes to and pins the other team so much that no one dies, so the ally base barely has a chance to get painted. Meanwhile, the opposition focus on painting the areas they aren't locked out of, then rush the center at the end in order to get a win.

Ranked Battle is an entirely different format. It's like King of the Hill. Rather than trying to cover the entire map, everyone focuses on capturing a certain area to accrue points. It's not just Turf War with rankings. It's an entirely different rule set.

I know it's a different mode, that's why I'm wondering why they don't just have it named after the mode instead of "ranked". What point is there for a ranking when we've got levels? And if there is a point, why shouldn't we be able to play ranked Turf War, or unraked Splat Zones? It's just a weird way to do it, not very Nintendo.

It's called Ranked because there will be other modes in it. Levels don't mean much.

Levels are just how much you've played. The ranking system is how you perform in the matches you play. It's all explained in the Splatoon Direct.
