[SPOILER THREAD] X-Men: Apocalypse

Yup!

Like, Storm has a picture of her tacked up on the wall like "This is my hero."

But then again - that sorta shit was more or less built into First Class, honestly. She's basically Xavier's little sister and Magneto's partner-in-crime/girlfriend. She's their common ground, really. There was no way she wasn't going to become really important to the story, whatever direction it might take.

I wonder if someone saw the movies and wanted to check out the amazing adventures of Mystique in comic form, went into a comic store and was hella disappointed

Storm (who literally just met Quicksilver) "Mystique told me that Magneto is your father. Are you going to tell him?"

What is wrong with you Kinberg? Mystique has a big fucking mouth.

Missed opportunity. Guess they had enough family drama going on in this.

Yeah, the film is already an overstuffed mess. Throwing that into the mix wouldn't have helped. I remember thinking in the last trailer that the "You're her" might have been a hint at exploring the possibility she was his mom, but nah. Ends up "you're her" is simply "You're the hero of mutantkind that we all admire from afar!"

They don't really do anything with Quicksilver/Magneto, either. Which makes it weird when they give Quicksilver & Mystique an opportunity to do something with it, and Quicksilver just declines and essentially is like "next time, baby."

It seems that the X-verse might be in trouble. JLaw is considering leaving the franchise (I think it has to be more of a money issue than a career move) and if that happens McAvoy and Fassbender will leave as well.

Magneto's future is unsure.

McAvoy's supposed to be in New Mutants, isn't he?

Essentially, the idea is that Mystique is in charge of the X-men now, so they're off doing X-Men stuff that we don't pay any attention to, while Charles moves over to the New Mutants and we follow all those guys on their 80s adventures.

Seems like they shouldn't have forced the Weapon X part in the film, and instead, given characters like Jubilee, Psylocke, Storm, and Angel more time instead of once again putting Wolverine front and center even when it makes 0 sense.
I said the same yesterday to my friend but to the exception of Jubilee. People are angry because they made such a big deal of her casting and stuff, but the film doesn't need more of her, giving the Horsemen more character is what the film needs most. As I've previously said, Jubilee is most likely in here as an early introduction for a bigger role as part of the X-Men '92 team.

Although I enjoyed it, the film probably would've been better with the Weapon X segment put in a "Weapon X Cut" for home video. They could even go crazy with the violence. And then allocate that spare runtime to give the Horsemen some actual character development.

Remember when Munn made that big stink over turning down the role of Copycat in Deadpool cause she wanted a role in a superhero movie with some depth?

She never said that. Hell she mentioned Psylocke barely has any lines. She said she just wanted to play a character involved in fight scenes and wasn't the "girlfriend" role

Will he turn out to be Brood-infested?

I kinda want them go whole hog and just put xenomorphs in the fucking thing if they're gonna do the Brood.

Well, Xavier could not be xenomorph-infested unless this timeline takes a real terrible turn, lol.

Edit: or maybe a real satisfying turn if your name happens to be Jay Rachel Edidin.

However I would watch the shit out of Aliens vs. X-Men.

He was trying to blow up the school because he's one of Stryker's sleeper agent mutants that he managed to get on the inside.

...

I'm in the spoiler thread but I still don't know if you're joking.

They made Alex Summers into a self-hating, anti-Mutant guy? Wow.

Also do they ever address Alex Summers' relationship with Cyclops? Rationalize him as an older brother or something?

No, they didn't do that.

That's how Scott winds up at the school. His powers manifest, his parents ask Havok to go talk to him, and Havok takes him to the Professor.

Havok's got a fairly nice-sized role up until he blows up the mansion.

Yeah, I was disappointed when Scott's dad wasn't a space pirate with a wicked handlebar mustache.

Although I guess they could be foster parents.

oh ... and if the lil girl that quicksilver was shown to sit with in DoFP was polaris, how does magneto not know about his family in the united states

I liked it. 'Xavier v Apocalypse' and 'Magneto' arcs are well done. Action and scene's are spectacular (Arc Angel birth, Quicksliver scenes, Magneto earthbending). Rest of supporting cast were serviceable.
However I didn't like the inclusion of Alkali Lake, seemed like a weird subplot that had no purpose other than set up. And Jean's phoenix foreshadowing, it over stays it's welcome I feel, constantly mentioning that "she has great power within her".
It's no Days of Future Past, but still very good imo

Hey remember when Future Logan tells Charles to find Ororo, Scott and Jean and Charles says he will? Well, he only bothers to find Jean, doesn't bother with Scott, and has Ororo right in front of him and doesn't seem to give a shit.

It's the most comic-accurate version of Professor X to date.

I also love how he loses his hair because they're trying to force him to look like Oscar Isaac. That's hilarious.

Charles will have a better chance with Jean if Scott is not around.
