I'm so tired of floating cherry blossom petals in general. I know, I know, I might as well quit anime altogether. I blame Clannad The Movie.
They should make an anime where cherry blossoms are deadly poison.

Trapeze 2

That's an... awkward situation, to say the least. And a great excuse for some creative visual innuendo.

I liked the tricks they did with the photographs and the scene in the restaurant to depict the nature of the relationship between the patient and his ex. It was amusing how he wasn't fazed at all by Irabu peering at him in the bathroom stall. I wonder if Irabu is supposed to be physically present in all the scenes he shows up in.

Well I watched this in Japanese because no has subbed it yet and while it was fairly half assed from a production value perspective...
This seems to be a situation where you hope they don't screw up the production badly enough to make it impossible to enjoy the material. Kind of like how the first half of Steins;Gate was pretty annoying until it cooled off in the second half.

Trigun was decent but hardly seminal. I don't think it's stood the test of time all that well.
That's certainly the case.

Nichijou 2: Much the same as before. Excellent production values, a lot of boring scenes and one rather memorable set-piece.

Watching FLCL on blu-ray, and it's, well, totally fine. You can tell it's an upscale of an SD show, but they did fine considering. The colors are a lot more saturated than I ever remember them being, though. That's a mite bit distracting.
Nah, it's a pretty bad upscale. Heavy filtering.

It's still the best looking version of the show though, as the DVDs (even the original R2J 1ep/disc DVDs) have heavy artifacting in high motion scenes, which is sad. :( I hope for a clean upscale one day.

Nichijou 2 - While I'm not finding this show that funny. (apart from a few moments) the production values and animation are so damn good, that I'll probably keep tuning in every week for that aspect. Plus i can see the humor growing on me over time.

It's coming to Netflix this April as well.

Damn, why even bother buying box sets anymore? Everything I want to see in the near future is either streaming somewhere or on Netflix DVD!

When it's good, it's so good. But when Nichijou misses, it feels so inconsistent.

Would you rather watch Sengoku Otome again or A-Channel?

Nope. Judging by your impressions of Episode 1, I would have enjoyed the OVAs more.

Is seeing this potential spoiler on a random site for the Madoka anime going to ruin the anime for me?

*Warning Potentially Massive Spoilers for Madoka, But I have no idea*
This was what I read "little girls getting decieved and turned into evil magical creatures to prevent the heat death of the universe certainly wouldn’t.

They're had to draw!

A Black Falcon said:
I guess so, yeah. But what did you think of the episode?
The only time it worked for me was with Mayoi Neko Overrun, but that's because I love in-character commentaries.

... Do you actually think that most sci-fi and fantasy is bad, which would be really sad, or are you just saying that... because it's absolutely not true. :( It makes me wonder how much of either genre you've actually read... most obviously, hard sci-fi is often very thought-provoking stuff. Lower-level sci-fi, and most fantasy, are admittedly not at that level, but nor are they much if anything below most other books in other genres, I think...

Of course though, part of it depends on which author you're talking about. Some write mostly for younger audiences, some for teenagers, and some for adults... it varies. Book thickness is one way to tell, but it isn't foolproof; sometimes you just have to read the books and see. Eddings definitely aimed at a quite a bit younger audience than Tad Williams does, for example, and wasn't quite as good a writer either; I do like Eddings' books, but Tad Williams is great.

On the other hand, back in highschool and the early years of college I read a lot of Star Wars books. I still have 50+ of those books, as proof of it... and at the time I'd have defended them and said 'no they're not junk', but looking back, they sort of are... though that opinion is partially colored by the fact that they've been going downhill for some time now (I mostly stopped reading after the end of the New Jedi Order series), but still, though they're okay books, they are aiming at a somewhat younger audience. Many D&D books do this as well. But saying that most fantasy or sci-fi is like that just because some is is a real mistake.
I haven't read much fantasy - mostly because I keep trying to start an epic 10+ volume universe and get burned out by the first half of the first book. I feel like I should be reading Journey to the West or Three Kingdoms or something if I wanted fake sounding names and quests and whatnot.

Science Fiction is different because it isn't as strictly defined as fantasy, but even then, a lot of the stuff I thought was good really isn't as great as I thought it would be. Card, Philip Dick, Heinlein, Halderman, Le Guin etc... I almost don't want to revisit them only because I don't want to discover that most of their work is bad tripe with interesting themes.

Of course, then you branch out to Science Fiction films and TV and anime and the quality dips dramatically and I've seen so much of it that unless it's fuckballs crazy (Macross with the singing, Aria with the lack of real conflict), I'm hard to impress.

I still like Neal Stephenson though. The Baroque Cycle is either a work of genius or the ramblings of a well researched madman who had too much time on his hands.

Ugh, three more episodes of this? I was hoping that the next one would be the last... oh well.
Nope, three more, including the recap with a touch of a new scene that still demands watching just because of it, fucking recaps. I hate recaps. I hate recaps that toss something new in more because you miss out if you skip them.

Last Exile was particularly bad at that, you'd be tempted to skip the recap AND the OP each episode since it's a fucking recap and the OP BUT every fucking once in a while the recap wouldn't be a recap or would have a new scene. Fucking Gonzo! Same with those assholes who usually don't show shit after the credits but every once in a while they will. Fuck those guys. Why do that? I get it for the last episode, that's just one damn episode that you have to skip through and be sure there's no real ending or some crap but just on random episodes? Fuck that. Fuck that.

But anyways, if you find this guy's arc boring you can skip it, it's part of the world but not really part of the story and is just mentioned in passing.

Bunny and Tiger: More traditional super-hero stuff from Sunrise, complete with an Incredibles costume testing scene.

I'm surprised at this shows level of competency. They're executing a familiar story in a pretty darn good way.

That's considered one of the weakest episodes, but it won't wreck the whole anime because it's the act of being trolled which makes it so good.

Getting better. Definitely better. That sister's hilarious and the whole notebook thing nearly had me crying, at least partially because I've done something similar (though not THAT bad).

Also, Professor and Robot are STILL best characters. It's great because the kid must have some massive intellect but the disposition of a child. I find it an amusing and fresh take on the classic nutty professor archetype. The robot playing the straight-man only makes it better. *ROCK, PAPER... ROLLCAKE?!* :lol

Nah, he admits it's porn, he just wants it to be, like, classy artistic pornography. For snobby monocle types who want lots of detail in their cunnilingus/rape/incest/tentacles, I guess.
I thought he said it wasn't porn because otherwise it's basically child pornography?

So I went and looked at the summary on the first page and, uh, this sounds totally generic and terrible. I think I can actually picture the entire thing in my mind scene-for-scene, without having seen it, just from piecing together what y'all have described and this plot summary. Gasp, what a twist!
If "hugging" is a euphemism, sure!

Dog Days 2

That was more epic than it had any right to be. Not really too keen on the idea of a tsundere dog girl (that trope is better suited for mean old cat girls) but otherwise no complaints.

Tiger and bunny 2 - As enjoyable as the first episode, but man I'm not so sure if i could handle the current formula for 26-episodes, that said if they do try to mix it up that would be good but also bad because it will bring them closer to sunrise train-wreck material.:lol

Nichijou 2 - the chase was funny and, for whatever reason, the soundtrack of the show reminds me of classic Looney Toons. For a random throwaway comedy, this ain't half bad.

Action scenes do not contribute to the development of a show!
The only exception is physical comedy! *smacks head with a giant paper fan*
