The Wind Rises
Let's start with the two obvious points. I actually loved Anno's performance in this. The sound effects were right weird though and I didn't really 'get' the need for them to be done in this way.
With that out of the way, I really liked this film. It was gorgeous as you would expect from a Ghibli theatrical feature. The music was also very pleasing as one would again expect.
Direction wise, this was a pretty solid film and most of the content was given the appropriate time to breathe. And while it was meant to be based on a real figure it's pretty clear that Miyazaki doesn't care lol.
Would I see it again? Probably, while I'm still more excited about seeing Kaguya-hime, it's definitely the best thing Miyazaki's done in the last 10 years however.
