[Sengoku Collection] - 5
I think the hype and discussion of the episode kind of killed this episode for me because there weren't very many surprises.
Are you going through the equivalent chapters as the show airs?

To be fair, the MC does act the part of an insecure piece of shit. His constant self-loathing and failure help balance out some of the wish-fulfillment. I mean, his winning strategy for the first battle was to hit the other dude and then wait for the timer to run out.
You must have missed the surprise (mainly stemming from how a SC episode wasn't complete dogshit) from some of the other posters in the last few pages.

Sankarea 05
Somebody gif me the part with Ranko's toes wiggling around. I need this.Incest and netorare? MY GOD
Ep 5 was simply less bad than the rest of the episodes before it.
I dont think this will be licensed for release.

If you want to be cute about all, all American shows were "split cour" until the mid-2000s, when people were pissed off with Lost and the repeats/recap episodes.Doctor Who (I know, different country) did it last year. Do you have any idea how that worked out for them?

They go on a ship.
One of the three girls that are just about the same expect outfits and hair colors almost drown but that's about all that happens. I mean there wasn't even that much Rick's bread going around this time either!

You get it?!
Not as easy as it looks in an anime!
...but this is an anime! lololol...Stupid.

Meh.
It's Shaft's secret best-secret yuri show. You guys inspired me to order the other seasons of Hidamari Sketch.
Its too cute. I can't resist it.

Have you seen the shit that Sentai licenses?
Akikan for example. Koihime Muso. Nyan Koi. They license so much weird stuff.
Honestly, with IS, I think "pound for pound", Sentai does more work than Funimation - especially if you don't give a shit about dubs.I actually think that Sengoku Collection is one of the last series this season that isn't already licensed for a NA physical release of some sort. Because Sentai basically slaps Crunchyroll subs on a disc, throws the disc in a standard dvd case, and ships it off to Rightstuf and Amazon they basically license anything and everything that they can get their hands on that no one else wants. Apparently the series is the most radioactive of the radioactive to NA publishers, hah.

And of course, Funimation has a lot of junk too!
THESE ARE IMAGES THAT STUDIO DEEN ACTUALLY PRODUCED (maybe, well, it was probably a studio that specialises in background art, but it's in a DEEN show!)

Until Funimation bothers to license Japanese extras, then I don't really care what the box looks like or whether or not they have dry erase boards and keychains with their DVD sets. But Funimation's junk at least has better packaging!
Anime running at any decent hour is aimed at children. No question about it. The rest of anime is not really aimed at anyone at all! Manchildren maybe. Lulz. Sales and ratings also reflect that.
Absolutely, although I don't know if there was ever a time when those kinds of long running shows weren't getting made at those lengths, because they're all targeting the same demographic.
I will certainly agree that certain boutique titles (e.g. Wandering Son) would probably have never been made before, or they'd be OVA's. For example, yuri titles like Aoi Hana didn't really exist at one time (and I guess still don't exist now).
However, nearly 80% (roughly) of titles in 2008 were 13 episodes or less. These aren't all 'boutique' shows in boutique genres that no-one watches. I mean we've got stuff like rom-coms (Ano Natsu, B Gata), general comedies (Haiyore! ), action shows (Sacred Seven), slice of life stuff (Hanamaru Kindergarten), horrorish (Highschool of the Dead), drama (House of Five Leaves), supernatural (Otome Yōkai Zakuro) and so on.
To really find out more I'd need to look at how many episodes each work in a certain genre had over time because that would give us a better understanding of how, or if, this has changed.
I did a very basic study of the number of shows in a given genre produced over the years, but it's not very helpful.

The fact that I have to buy the Full Metal Alchemist OVA specials as a separate release years after the original run of the show, for example, is pretty asinine.

Hey, come on! If you're going to be a total backwards stuck-in-the-past square* and and actually own physical anime, it's perfectly valid to have a vested interest in how it looks on a shelf considering that it's really all you'll ever do with a DVD set anyway!
*SARCASM
YuriSketch is more of a yuri show than Natsu no Arashi though. Also:
You're a filthy traitor.

In 10 years, you're probably going to throw the boxes away and put them into a CD notebook thing anyway.
All my PC game boxes are in a landfill, for example!

They used to do this. Look at my Tsukuyomi moonphase boxset from Funimation.

I wish companies could still afford to do quality releases like this.
Something like this seems to only come from Aniplex these days.
It's all about space.
It sounds like you're not the kind of person that takes pleasure in a collection/library. I'd sell all of my media before I'd toss the boxes and keep the discs!
90% of GAF hates Shaft anyway. They won't watch the secret best Shaft show. The truth doesn't matter. Getting people to watch does!
It's all about space.
I'm going to have to throw away my 50 issues of Edge magazine soon as well, since they're giant and take up so much space. They're such great objects as well, but what can you do?

I wonder when they'll show that Hank, the old lady, the elves, the soldiers and all the other characters who live in the island were also found stranded on the beach.
Shining Hearts - Shiawase no Pan 4
I rarely skip OPs, but this show's is just too much for me.

I appreciate things like art galleries and commentaries on discs, but its not a dealbreaker or anything if they arent present. I much prefer the posters and postcards and pencilboards like Geneon and Aniplex include in their releases. I also really really like NISA's artbooks.
The Last Exile set has little papercraft vanship models. Those are the sorts of "extras" that I enjoy.
Admittedly, I'm totally out of space too so I know how it is. Several of my gaming libraries had to go into giant plastic tubs because I didn't have space for them, and I might box up more stuff soon just to relieve how claustrophobic my space feels. I would need some shelving units that extend to the ceiling in order to fix this problem, heheh.
Don't give up hope!even though 90% of GAF is a really conservative estimate considering that's not even the percentage that hates anime
I may just do a promotional rewatch this summer if it comes to that, hahah.
As long as you're not skipping the ED!
As long as it's not-
beaten.
Also, this tickles me for some reason, but there's something so funny about a dwarf being named Hank.
Yep, most of my games are in tubs now except the ones I think I might play but never weill. lolAdmittedly, I'm totally out of space too so I know how it is. I'm the same way, which is why I have a bookshelf full of white people comics (and several long boxes) that I keep for no good reason.I keep everything in original cases with the original boxes. Cant bear to throw out anything.
Have animators just kind of forgotten how to proportion anime faces and such? Its not that difficult. Unless they are insanely rushed and have a "fuck it thats good enough" kind of attitude. That is probably closer to the truth.
