I wonder if there is going be some lesbian action between her and Fujiko!!
Fujiko will pull away from a kiss with Oscar to find him pulling off a mask. The true identity of Oscar: another Fujiko.

I guess I'll chime in and elaborate that I certainly don't think Medaka Box is bad necessarily. It certainly hasn't made the best first impression though.

It was like they were trying to make it something it wasn't. Like they were trying to make it Gurren Lagann which it really isn't that type of show. Maybe it is later on but all the over the top stuff didn't really suit the first episode given that not really all that much happened.

Running scenes with Feyris
without background were kinds goofy along with the timeframe skips. And what
thugs
worth their salt can't afford a car?

Anyways, a nice transition when
Feyris somehow started remembering the cafe she had owned in an alternate time thread, pupil dilating and transparency to boot.

The addition of Feyris'
father saving Feyris and Okabe after Okabe initially wanted her to revert her D-Mail is also a tasty bit of irony. Man, Feyris' depth episode, fitting music, camera work, good stuff.

Dem VN tendencies!

Silence, me!

On the real, liked the episode. Accomplished placing some steady pace between the tension while effectively fleshing out the backstory and motivations of a character.

The deception will have been worth it.

A joke, but something as surreal as that to bring it all full circle, done well, would have me losing my shit, and in such a good way. No lie.

Clearly "Oscar" is a throwback reference to Rose of Versailles.

Or not so clearly. Does Rose of Versailles have the moe men?

Theses are rather informative and the nice action scene in there was nice. Kind of have to wish they actually gave it more frames, you can like count them in the transition moments.

The title is actually fairly descriptive, because Kirino really isn't cute and I can only imagine it would take a heavy interest in BDSM to think otherwise. She really drained all the patience I had for tsun acts, and now I'd much rather see people who insist on being so fucking insecure they cannot let go no matter what rot in their own self-inflicted loneliness and misery. Maybe I shouldn't be so harsh. Maybe it should be treated like a condition similar to autism, but then at least everyone can acknowledge there's a problem. All our male lead would do is enable her. Despite giving so many jdrama-style impassioned speeches to other people, I'd love if he'd just say, "if this is how you insist on treating me then you can go to hell". Of couse, that would require him to have actual sense, something he frequently proves he lacks in a variety of scenarios including getting freaked out over something being on his laptop screen when all he had to do was close the fucking lid.

Overall, though, it was pretty much Genshiken updated to reflect current otaku trends, including being structured more like Haruhi with some Freudian subtext thrown in for... fun, I guess. Actual Genshiken-style nerds-being-nerds scenes worked fairly well, and the chemistry and exchanges between Kirino and Kuroneko was frequently amusing if not disturbingly familiar. I find it amusing how Saori is introduced as maintaining this moderately sized club only for her to throw all of them under the bus after she meets Kirino. Oh well, I guess that's just one of the pleasures of
being a 1% in disguise
. Genshiken still remains the better show because it isn't saddled with all the bullshit found here.

Kuroneko carried the show. She just plain did.

The OP song and visuals is pretty bland, otherwise I thought it was just a decent and entertaining anime. Visuals are nice even though some choice for scenes was awkward (we need an camera angle fixated behind of her underwear?, she can hold the world, what?). Zenkishi is really the star of this for me and was pretty cool. His key scene was actually really epic. I was more excited to see his parts than hers as right from the start she just seems to be pretty dull personality wise and such. Will keep watching.

This show looks pretty cool. Definitely looking forward to it.

The thing that hasn't been mentioned, I don't think, and the real surprise of the season is TMS Entertainment. Who the hell are they? Between the utterly amazing Lupin, and the surprisingly solid animation of Zetman, I'm surprised to never have heard of them before--at all.

TMS entertainment was known as a powerhouse studio in the 70s/80s.:p

Seriously?

TMS is one of the oldest studios out there. I'm surprised you've never heard of them, too.

They haven't done a lot of recent late-night shows that people here would pay attention to, but TMS Entertainment is one of the oldest stalwarts of the anime industry, founded in 1964. They've animated the entire Lupin III franchise, as well as Detective Conan and a bunch of other stuff.

Let's go with that.
It was ok. I was entertained with the premise and what happened, but I would have rather went without the whole wanting to go back. Would be much better if the gender bent Nobunaga decided to take over Modern Japan instead.
The male character (you can't call him a MC if he doesn't do anything besides getting headbutted every few moments) was as bland as they come. I am hopeful he doesn't appear again.
I'll keep watching and hopefully the show will turn out decent. But, as long as it doesn't have an episode where it goes SAIZO!~ at the highest pitch known to man, it'll be better than Brave 10.

Seriously. It's definitely a byproduct of having only grown out of casual anime watching in 2004~, and only looking back to individual artists, and when newer stuff of theirs comes along. That they have such history is interesting.

idk, that software always seems to hitch on me if I want to watch something using mpc.

For media streaming it's better to use an app that is designed to do media streaming. Splashtop needs to be responsive in real-time and doesn't buffer it's streams. Even over my local WiFi network I get hitching in Splashtop. Great for games, bad for media.

The OP was actually kind of nice, if it were just off vocals. The instruments and what they did was fun. Pretty dull episode overall. Only part I actually liked was just them in the room. May end up dropping it next episode if it doesnt raise the bar. Kind of shocked any anime studio would have accepted the idea for this anime. Theres like nothing compelling in it.

a good or bad one?

Mostly good. Some very interesting special abilities and every so often, a really good strategic battle. It also introduces a really cool character.

Not perfect though. The plot gets really wonky and the author just straight up trolls. Some people find it amusing and make it worth it while others find it annoying. It is really popular in manga gaf though.

I thinks its hilarious how much of a hard on cosmic has for this Kumagawa character going so far as to call him one of the great characters in fiction. Because when I think of great fiction, I think of Shounen Jump.

Well everyone has their own ideas of what great fiction is.

Well, Hunter x Hunter is a Shounen Jump series, and that's pretty great. That's certainly an outlier as far as 'great fiction' goes, however.

Why is Jump disqualified from being great fiction? Because it's aimed at teenagers?

Yu Yu Hakusho 1-3

Between the brief Toonami revival which showcased an episode of this and pizzaroll attesting to the quality of the blurays, I picked up the first half of the show. I'd always sort of glossed over this (like I did with Sailor Moon back in the day) and I'm realizing I seriously missed out. Show is beautiful, characters are great, the first episode was touching as can be, Botan is friggin' adorable, and Kuwabara is a god damn man. Might clear out the weekend viewing plans and prioritize this now.
