Just noticed the Bakemonogatari release news, hard to keep up with things now that this is in community.

Quickly emailed them of my intention to pay any amount of money for subtitled commentaries. Still extremely unlikely for it to happen, but I guess this is the best chance we're going to get.

Wait WHAT?!
To borrow a line from the GAF poster who makes men happy: WHO DO I HAVE TO
BEEP
TO GET THE COMMENTARIES SUBTITLED?!

That... was weird.

And that's after just watching Upotte! too so that's probably saying something.

The character designs in Naze no Kanojo really are fugly. It's like I'm watching Pokemon.
I dunno there's something kind of charming about the character designs. Has a 90's feel to it.

What...Why...wut...That.... I feel deceived, of my own fault. Going off of that banner art I grabbed, I thought I was in for an animu meets dr.seuss sorta thing, but that only came up for a few seconds, and in a dream. I couldn't even make it any further to see if it came back. I'm 3/5 so far this season.

I'm probably one of the few that hasn't watched this at this point. Never really gave this a shot in the past. I think the last time I attempted to watch it I was put off a bit under the assumption I was watching a poor dub when in reality it was a dual language production with some stilted delivery in English. That's probably the only flaw, if it even counts as one in this case, I could name becasue otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed this. Light on story but heavy on atmosphere, it was a visual treat.
Particularly the scene where Saya kills the girl in the bed which had this wonderful brutality to it.
It's a short sweet film that I'll likely revisit but more importantly it gives me context as to why Blood+ and Blood-C
viewers familiar with the original material have been so disappointed in subsequent productions as the former doesn't really grasp the tone of this movie from what I've seen so far and the latter is just out there. Hopefully The Last Dark is more like this movie.

Ryuunosuke was a nut until the end. I have to say, with him gone, Tokiomi is easily the most detestable master left. And perhaps just as crazy.

Not really a huge fan of all the CGI everywhere. I preferred the first swordfight in the series where it was far less present.

Kuroko no Basket 01
Oh yeah, those two main leads, will totally do it. Not if, but when at this point.
So, uh, it's ok. I mean, I was able to watched through it despite my hatred towards the sport, so that's a plus towards it. How long I'll keep up is anyone's guess.

Well, it's rarely like CG is my preferred method for animating anything, but this is about as good as I've seen it looking in any anime. It pretty acceptable most of the time.

There's a lot of god awful character designs in the 90's man. Also, the hair in this show is just awful.

Well I didn't say it was necessarily good, the style just invoked an odd sense of nostalgia which is weirdly disparaged by the actual premise of the show.

I honestly don't know how to feel about it overall. Like I've seen worse stuff in anime before but I somehow just felt really grossed out about that first drool scene. I'm not sure why it would invoke such a strange reaction from me.

Part of me wants to keep watching it since it seems like a fun show but the other half finds it really stupid too. I don't even know anymore.

Loved the whole
Tokiumi vs. Kariya
build up and I can't wait for next week to see their fight and
Kiritsugu's sniping made me wonder why he didn't just go for the head immediately.
Oh well what a great way to start up S2~! :D

It's much easier to hit the center of mass than someone's head. Once he was disabled it was much easier for Kiritsugi to finish him off.

Well, it's rarely like CG is my preferred method for animating anything, but this is about as good as I've seen it looking in any anime. It pretty acceptable most of the time.

Well they obviously dumped a lot of money into it. I'm not saying it looked bad, but I can't help but think of the
dogfights in things like Macross Plus
and not be as impressed with
Berserker vs. Archer.

That part wasnt THE most impressive example of such in anime history, but it was the only time
a badass creature like Berserker took control of a plane and dogfights with another servant god

It was a cool idea, I agree, but I find those scenes the least interesting in the episode. It didn't have any consequence to it, unlike everything else that was happening, and
Berserker
not being able to engage in dialogue also makes it less interesting. It just felt like unnecessary spectacle to me, considering all the other events occurring simultaneously.

The whole episode was just awesome eye candy action-wank though so it works
for it.

The dialogue in the episode suggests that
Kiritsugu was not 100% certain that the person he was shooting is Caster's master. Remember, no one has seen Ryuunosuke with Caster, except maybe the Assassins. It was a guess based on the way he was acting, so he went for a non-lethal first shot presumably so the bystander wouldn't die if he turned out to be wrong about it. When the monster stopped the moment Ryuunosuke was shot, Kiritsugu knew it was the right person, and went for the kill.

This actually makes it pretty disturbing if you think about it. Kiritsugu was willing to risk shooting an innocent bystander who was acting a little crazy, just to stop Caster.

There's really no such thing as
a non-lethal sniper shot. So yeah, Kiritsugi was taking a risk that it was him. I'm pretty sure the only reason he shot him in the body first was because it's a much better shot at that range. Or any range really.

Nah... my interpretation was cooler!
From the typical 'final speech' character narrative standpoint, he had to see what he has searched for on himself (his own guts).

And I know that what you say is probably it, man.

Well, your analysis is certainly correct from a meta standpoint, but the in-universe justifications should be considered too.

The whole episode was just awesome eye candy action-wank though so it works
for it.

Hmm, I can't agree with that. The action occurring in the other scenes had a clear purpose to it.

Well it did, but overall it wasn't much of a plot forwarding episode
except for the death of Ryuunosuke which admittedly WILL allow the plot to move forward finally

Well, this a thing. It's not particularly well made, or poorly made. It's differentiates itself from the crowd of one million other high school romantic comedies via the, er, drool device.

I guess a few years ago such a thing might be considered weird, but between guns and toothbruhses I feel that there isn't much that can shock me anymore. Aside from that, I suppose it's all about the characters and whether you think they're interesting enough to sustain the premise, or just quirky for the sake of being quirky.

I thought it was fine, but it's not something that I'll spend all week waiting for.

Honestly I thought this was pretty good. Sure the premise is rather weird, but the episode was fairly well directed, and I was rather fond of the soundtrack too. The character interactions are pretty...compelling, Urabe herself is entertaining to watch throughout the episode, and even the MC isn't a complete bum. He has a Dorothy(Big O) figurine after all. The dream sequences were a highlight during the episode I think, very strange and surreal, albeit short. Hopefully there is more of that in the future.

Basically its a show about the power of drool and love.

I was under the impression from the different posts here about this that it was pretty good "for Deen" so I was going in with certain expectations but I was pleasantly surprised. It really is pretty good and the SHAFTisms certainly didn't go unnoticed. This Hatakeyama guy seems to know what he's doing.

I went and read a bit of the manga for comparison and I gotta say the way the anime handles mood and atmosphere feels much more appropriate and I like it a lot better. Almost makes me wish they'd changed the dude's design a bit as well because the silly hair feels almost out of place.

Also, fuck nano.RIPE.

As everyone has already detailed, it was a really impressive episode. I love how the ED showed scenes from the audio drama.
The Tokiomi/Kariya scene was some good character development, now Tokiomi comes across as a naive fool instead of a more sinister type of terrible father. I like how Gilgamesh apparently even has some ancient airship in his treasury.

Really? I actually got a worse impression of him after that conversation.
It felt more like he just didn't care what happened to Sakura because MAGIC is more important than lowly human concerns like not having a nightmarish childhood.

Yes, this is how you make a perverted romance classy. Drool is an inherently disgusting concept, but this show knows how to frame it in a way that makes it alluringly sexual without being trashy. The character and art design make for an attractive aesthetic - I really like the glow of the sunset lighting. It's quite atmospheric, as befits its title, the dream sequences with their fantasy cityscape especially. The central couple bond in a weird and unrealistic manner, but are utterly charming together. Urabe's hair, erratic behavior, and very un-anime rookie voice actress sell her as a mysterious but bewitching girlfriend.

I had a big smile on my face throughout. I'm in.

If there any any Gintama fans here, you should check this out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OChQuB9sBA&feature=related

I don't even know how I stumbled upon it, but it's a bunch of Chinese cosplayers who basically wrote their own episode of Gintama and performed it at some contest (at 30 minutes long, it's actually longer than a standard episode!).
They even managed to get
rope bondage Sa-chan
into their bit. lol

(Also amusing is a) everyone having Mandarin names and b) the crowd freaking out whenever the characters spoke Japanese).

I'm a fan of shows that use voice actors who haven't done a lot of work in anime before and who sound different from the rest. For example, Sochie in Turn A and Nanoka in Koi Kaze both have a unique sound too them.

This is so awesome, and so very odd.

E: Whoa, are they wrapping this around material farther ahead? They have Takasugi and Kamui being bros.

Everything is tsundere to me
Now with the dawning of the Official Thread I can finally give my Upotte!! impressions!

Upotte!! 01

Yup, this is the Upotte!! I learned to love. There are some changes, most glaringly with FNC's design, which definitely shows the other glaring change, the amount of fanservice the show expels forth. I'm not exactly complaining, since all these guns are something like 50 years old, but eh, I guess they have to get SOMETHING to draw in an audience that doesn't comprise ENTIRELY of Gun Nerds. Still, the time when they were explaining themselves it was kind of odd since some of them were straight out of the book, while they didn't even bother to explain that L85A1 had huge tits 'cause the L85A1 is a heavy gun. Still, considering that they're moving forward to action in episode two already, I can forgive their collapsing all that slice of life stuff into one episode. Can't wait for ARs vs. BRs. >:D

Now I sleep, and then watch MGX tomorrow.

Well this is nice to have back. Not a great episode but not offensive in any respect either. Ultimately I didn't feel like I got anything I normally come to F/Z for. The dialogue wasn't particularly snappy and none of it really revealed a great deal new about any of the characters. The action in this episode also just really fell pretty flat to me. The monstrosity is just a boring and faceless enemy that isn't particularly imposing when it feels like it's just floating around in the water.

All of the stuff going on in the sky was just silly.
Weightless, over the top, and clearly something that will bear no fruit or even result in actual confrontation. The throne's aerial antics just elicited the, "Well this is dumb," reaction from me.
Definitely expect more from the series. In the past individual characters maintained a presence when everyone converges into one group, but I didn't get the same feeling here. With the distancing of the characters there was actually an incredibly minimal amount of interaction between characters, and it felt more like they were simply all hovering around the same giant location.
