Okay, so
he was trying to hide the dead cat in a box, but you know what I mean. Why isn't he interested in that? Because she's breathing?

Oh, I don't think it should be off-limits, but it feels a bit more cumbersome to me in a story that appears to be at least in part educational ("how does one become an astronaut?") than in a Christmas tale...

As researched as I'm sure Space Brothers is, I see it as more a character drama than a documentary about astronauts.

It would be kind of amazing if he didn't though, wouldn't it? I know writers aren't allowed to that though because it would probably count as wasting the audiences time, or something.
Haha. That would be epic though. And then you can excuse that with "it's not the destination, it's the journey".

A tragic way to do that would be to have him get into some kind of accident right before his launch, so he ends up paralyzed or something. The last shot of the show is him smiling as he watches the rocket launch into the sky, all :firehawk like.

Ah My Goddess TV 19
No, they did nothing.
Well, nice to see Belldandy being the aggressive one in the relationship which she is normally. They were running through as many couple-y actions as they could find, but hey at least the romance is there. Even though they really haven't done anything besides saying they do like each other. Better than nothing I guess.

I feel that, as an outsider with some knowledge of this franchise (and series) I must ask - are you expecting something to happen between the two of them?

I know I'd be pretty pissed.

Hey, I said "in part"!

Sure, sure. I just care more about the characters than the precise details of the astronaut examinations, so this kind of stuff doesn't feel out-of-place to me.

Sadly, Space Brothers is not a KEY drama.

Not at all. I just would rather either something does happen or they stop doing so much will they will they probably not episodes and work more on the magic and goddesses aspect.

Got my copy of Heaven's Lost Property: Forte. The front cover is not the one posted on TRSI, but is the one that Madman Ent. is currently listing on their website. I do not have a camera to show pictures of the four postcards, but I can try to give a general SFW depiction if anyone wants to know.

The show goes down easier when you accept that Keiichi and Belldandy are always going to be dancing around each other and take everything as the harem antics that they are.

Buffalos!

This episode was pretty interesting in content,
I mean a war breaks out! And it’s an episode built around territorial dispute. Totally cool.
and damn funny too, horse-drawn horse-drawn carriages and Applejack being the best parent ever for Bloomberg.

Pinkie was fantastic as usual, the catalyst to
creating the war. Not once but multiple times.
The power of song was in full effect in this episode only with dire consequences. The scenes that fallout from that event are fantastic and nobody can ever doubt the power of Pie ever again.

I had hopes given the few game cutscenes I'd seen in the past and the quality therein but I was wary of a game being made into a movie in general as that's typically a poor recipe. I was pleasantly surprised to get a movie that was actually pretty good. The aesthetic and character designs were wonderful and gave it a unique feeling, the English dub was great, the soundtrack was fantastic, and the story itself was rather touching at times. The inclusion of some of the game's signature puzzle elements did feel a bit contrived but that's par for the course, I suppose. I also thought the pacing was superb as the movie absolutely flew by and kept me engaged throughout. It was definitely a higher quality product than I expected.

So do I, it's just that I'm still trying to gauge where on the "realism <-> magical convenience" spectrum the show is. Turns out it may be closer to the latter than I thought/hoped. Not a big deal, but... "Huh."

That's just... writing though. I don't think this show ever put itself forward as a docu-drama anyway.

Man, I have this kind of wistful nostalgia for the days when people just wrote 'mono no aware'.
I suppose being mono no aware for "mono no aware" would mean being happy to accept a new term. lol

I don't even know where to fucking begin. There were jet clowns, fireworks, mini hats, oh god, what even is this.

The one thing that will remain constant is DEEN art.

The train is completely forgetten. Lilith doesn't know who Hazuki is, despite knowing her last episode. They go to different worlds, solely for yuri moments and fanservice. Suddenly, the plot switches to a completely different set of characters than the past two episodes. who is this show supposed to be about? I have no idea, and neither does DEEN. The second half of the episode was DRAMA TO THE MAX, Since Hazumi is Eve, and Hazuki looks like yumiyami who is Lilith's dad, and Eve has been around for centuries or something. But she never learned to speak. She's living in a village, and takes care of the kids. But one of the kids, named Gar, goes around killing birds which eve then revives. And gar wants to learn the revive magic, so he can kill them with impunity. But eve teaches the loli instead of him. So gar gets mad. And then the GAR Shota decided he wanted to kill the loli who Eve had taught magic too, but instead he killed eve. There was lots of religious imagery, because it's symbolic, and sunflowers too. In the one moment of normal story telling, you can see a parallel to the first episode, but with a knife instead of the letter opener.

COMPLETELY UNAMUSED

So we went from
people thinking that a girl in tight clothing that emphasized her enormous tits was a guy
last episode to
thinking that a girl in a seifuku looks like someone's dad
this episode. I...uhh...

My brain is full of fuck. Where is
the train
? Why do
Lillith and Hazuki not recognize each other
? WHY ARE
LILLITH'S TITS TEN TIMES AS BIG WHEN SHE'S IN A BIKINI
?

this episode was a clusterfuck of skipping around to I don't even know what. We went from a library to a beach to a carnival to some kind of pastoral setting where
Hatsumi is Eve is Jill
and we get some kind of backstory for
Gargantua, the dandy freak with the goblin servants from last episode and how he is a batshit stark raving killer psychopath even as a kid and likes to suckle the Virgin Mary's finger in secret
.

SYMBOLISM.

If I say I want everyone, I literally mean everyone. Even Madao and the kid who adopted him for that one episode!

I suppose they probably don't even remember the entire cast of characters at this point though.

You know who I miss? The crazy biker amanto girl that couldn't stop moving or she'd die. Loved her design and personality. Kind of like a less magnificent bastard version of Haruko.

Fate/Zero 15
The Kariya/Tokiomi scenes were disappointing, but had a nice pay off with Kotomine flashing his trademark smirk. What was with the magic dust that destroyed Gilgamesh's airship? The music was excellent in this episode, including the Yuki Kaijura remix of Promised Victory.

Childhood Backstory

Firstly, the way in which the audience is shown what's happened to Rea feels a little exploitative, they didn't need to depict that material to us in that manner for us to understand what was going on. It wasn't nearly as bad as, say, Elfin Lied, but it was still a bit tacky. This isn't a particularly major problem, but I still felt like it should be brought up because any work that handles these kinds of themes should be careful in how it depicts such things.

Sankarea23.jpg

Secondly, Rea's father seems a little bit too much for me to take him seriously. He is apparently omnipotent and omniscient - he can do whatever he wants to other characters and apparently witness everything that goes on. That seems extremely convenient - I don't really buy him as a character quite yet. I guess he's a necessary force to give the plot it's impetus.

Interesting. It actually sounds like you would like how the manga handles this better than the anime. Think that might be a first for the thread (despite what I said last night, I like what the anime did more).

Because she's his cousin?

Japan is into the cousin thing. I was actually surprised when it was brought up as a negative in Daily Lives of High School Boys.

Everything else

There's really nothing compelling enough about this for me to continue watching. The only hook that I'm actually interested in is Maruo's social anxiety, but even that wasn't as executed as well as I had hoped. Everything from the social anxiety to the BL was handled better in Tsuritama IMO. Don't think I'll be watching more.
