Tragic victim of fan death
SAO represents everything that is wrong with anime. I can get more enjoyment staring at the sun for 20 mins then watching that vile garbage.

Uhh.... no. If you want something that is utter and complete shit then watch Date-A-Live. That show is fucking horrendous outside of the cool female character designs.

I'm always amused by all the venom directed at the show, because it just seems so . . . middlingly bad. It's like saying that the Da Vinci Code is the Mein Kampf of the 21st century.

Firehawk's line about it early on is still the best thing to come out of his rage, though:

I thought SAO was the worst thing on the internet since child porn.

Well, yeah, staring at the sun for 20 minutes will give you an experience that lasts a lifetime.

20 minutes of staring at the sun is nothing compared to 13 episodes of staring at Angel Beats.

Oh man Corvo gonna watch SAO.

I'll paid money for this.

Not in the immediate future, though. I dunno, gotta look at my shej.

Get a room!

Jealous.

The problem with Sword Art Online is that it's mostly just bad, not so bad it's good. It's a competently-produced series with one of the most puerile and amateur screenplay ever written.

Sounds exactly like Gundam AGE.

....what does abdicated mean?

It's what Princess Euphemia was going to do
before Lelouch murdered her for kicks.

I feel like knowing a show is gonna suck going into it ruins the fun for me. I KNEW Gundam AGE wasn't going to be bed. Finding out things like Rah Xephon and Gundam 00 were the most awful shows ever on my own was a much . . . richer experience.

Liz was definitely the best. My roommate always asks me why I hate SAO so much.
truthfully I think its a combination of it ignoring my favorite characters completely, and me being generally apathetic towards the whole premise, since I dont like MMORPG games. Then episode 14-15 didnt help either.

Admit it, all of you are anticipating SAO s2, and all of you will watch it.

Im anticipating Accel World S2.

On one hand
dead girl is dead, as much as it's too bad she died.
On the other, the story keeps being laughably silly and damn that talk about sweet and bitter and coffee. At least use tea damn it.

The Light of El Cantare
Yu-Gi-Oh S0 1

This is hideously ugly, so ugly I'll save your eyes by refraining from posting any screenshots. The color design is hideously garish in that early digital way, especially all the black shading which does not work at all. There's also some nonsensical layouts. That said, there were a few nice direction touches which surprised me, such as the pan out through the keyhole when Yuugi is working on the puzzle in his room. I also liked the transition to and from the eyecatches.

The content itself is somewhat appealing though. I never got into CCGs, so this initial version of the series with its variety of games is considerably more attractive to me than what it later became. Also, bullying stories like this strike a cord with me. The Yami Game at the end reminded me of Hell Girl, a guilty pleasure of mine. I'll probably be able to get some enjoyment out of this. At the least, at only 27 episodes this won't be another Law of Ueki situation.

Visually, it might be the ugliest thing that Toei's ever produced, and that's saying something. Even so, the horrifying color palette and the warped, washed-out, creepy old-beaten-up-VHS look significantly help in selling the experience as something from the dark side of anime, condemned to be lost to time by its creator. It's a bizarre experience with its curious mix of lighthearted school antics, ancient mysticism, incredibly dark and often surprisingly creative confrontations, and the pure gleeful schadenfreude of Yami Yugi absolutely trolling the fuck out of his opponents and slapping them with delicious ironic punishments.

I'm definitely getting the feeling now that I've overstated just how good it is to people who aren't me, but I think you'll find the experience to be unique, if nothing else.

You are only making me afraid. ;_;

SuperS' worst is still better than any of the Doom Tree stuff in R so you have nothing to fear. It's not like we're going from Heartcatch to Max Heart or anything.

I still can't believe that I'm responsible for that................thing.

I'm anxiously anticipating the GAF rage, which I expect to be stronger. I've bought popcorn already.

I am curious to see whether they can make the anime version more interesting to me than I found the novel(s). I don't hold out much hope though. But then I have less than zero interest in the game type used for the story.

Of course as I've said before, I really enjoyed SAO...well the first arc.
