Well, i've watched the first 2 episodes and I don't hate it.

In fact, outside of the ham-fisted delivery of exposition (which in turn causes the writing of these 2 episodes (and i suspect the next couple) to be marred) I've been enjoying it quite a bit.

Only one I haven't seen any of is DxD.

If you can handle high levels of ecchi, watch it. At least the first 2 seasons. 3rd season didn't turn out too well.

you can't be afraid of nipples though, they are everywhere in the uncensored version @_@.

My friend mentioned that, but he sounded quite positive about it. Maybe its a "different strokes for different folks" kind of thing.

And I'm not sure I'd call the first 2 episodes "tame" (maybe in comparison, haven't gotten past 2 yet). I mean its pretty much a huge allegory for racism, apartheid and even has a scene where police murder a girl in cold blood just because she is a cursed child. Its definitely up front on the whole racism angle.

Edit: i do get that there are a lot of shows that are bad and have ecchi and many of us have been burned too many times, but i still find it weird.

i'm tired (and just wrote 4.5k words) but I will try to explain.

for me, a focus on fanservice like that in general is a huge turn off.
each random boob grab, boob jiggle, compromising position, just makes things less enjoyable.

the shows that tend to do a lot of this stuff tend to ruin what little interesting plot they have by ruining the pacing by focusing on random ecchi stuff.

quite frankly, it is inferior because it is ecchi. While you can have some funny moments with the ecchi scenes, that vast majority of them are just there to sell a product with sex instead of a good story. You could redo the vast majority of ecchi shows with a minimal amount of ecchi and have a much better story for it.

in highschool dxd's case the story around the ecchi was decently interesting, and the characters were pretty fun. doesn't change the fact there is a lot of time wasted on nudity and very few of the scenes with that stuff are remotely funny though.

I also wasn't trying to imply some sort of "we gotta defend the porn" angle either. probably should have said that i just don't get the "for a _____ show" thing at all tbh.
Edit: I should also probably add that its also a "me" thing on this one. I get weirded out when people do that sort of thing with anything. be it genre specification or even medium specification.

I know some people are disappointed there isn't a season 2 of Barakamon. However I'm going to enjoy watching Handa-kun next season due to how hilarious the manga is. Also Handa's mom is in it.
