hi all, first post here. My gf and I decided to give anime a try on Netflix because we're getting burned out by TV shows there.

We really liked "Attack on Titan," and loved "Seven Deadly Sins." Didn't like "Your lie in April." It was a bit too silly and melodramatic for us.

I'd like to get some recommendations for series available on Netflix. Something similar to "Seven Deadly Sins" would be great.

Not exactly like Seven Deadly Sins but you might enjoy these:

Rage of the Bahamut Genesis
Kill la Kill
Fate/Zero
Gurren Lagann
Samurai Champloo

Shows with action and an adventure-y/cool feel then?

Looking at this, I'd recommend the following under that.

Eureka Seven
Fate/Zero
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Gurren Lagann
Hunter x Hunter (warning: still ongoing long running shonen, but "ends" because there was no material left to adapt)
Samurai Champloo

And Madoka Magica just on the principle of it being really good, not much like those other shows though.

EDIT: Actually it looks like Funimation only has 4/5ths of Brotherhood on Netflix for whatever reason.

This is a whole new level of bad. And Yottsun is alive... And the final shot... I can't.

Also, I'm not sure if I missed something, but the Reiji guy looks like Mitsumune... Maybe they're actually the same person or something?

It continues to be the worst thing ever.
Turns out trying to trick the person that has mind controlling powers can backfire really hard.
Losing limps doesn't even slow down the main character. One would think that amputations are really fucking painful, but I guess not in this universe.
The end fight, that was probably supposed to be epic, was slightly undermined by the terrrible animations quality.

I'm not even shocked by all the stupid reveals in this episode, just confused and slightly mad that Yottsun is still freaking alive. Lol at that final shot of the episode,
Koharun being the main bad
. Varukana got played like a goddamn fiddle.

From what I understand, you go to the village, meet your fears in monster form (Nanaki), and the you can either face it and get away from the village but start to age quickly since "you can't live without your emotional scars", or stay in the village and start to get extremely tired and from what I can assume, just disappear off the face of the Earth. How many episodes do we have left? I assume 2.

Netflix kind of stinks for anime. Watch the original Fullmetal Alchemist, not Brotherhood. Brotherhood, outside of being worse, just has its ending episodes missing on Netflix.

Abandon your fatherland... Goddamn those Aerial Knights. And the level of hate coming from that red-haired guy is such an Edgelord, lol

Mikumo singing with various English words, mm-hmm.

Hayate and Freyja's signals became one! And Freyja finally commits to singing to every corner of the galaxy.

What did you like most about Seven Deadly Sins? I assume the adventure/action aspect of it? You also don't like melodrama? If so then you might like these shows:

Blue Exorcist
Fate Stay Night UBW
Fate/Zero
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (though the final episodes are missing)
Gurren Lagann
Hunter X Hunter (though there's no dub and not all the episodes are there, Netflix episodes end in the middle of a big arc)
Kill la Kill
Magi (Labyrinth of Magic is the first season, Kingdom of Magic is the 2nd)
Samurai Champloo
Soul Eater

And though it might not be like Seven Deadly Sins, I do recommend the following just for being really good anime:

Death Note
Madoka Magica
Durarara (both the original and x2)
Mushi-shi

Hahaha, Freyja is getting Ranka'd. I'm kidding, of course, it's all just a misunderstanding that Freyja knows is not true.

These air battles have a lot of cloud porn and look even better at night. Damn, I really hope that hateful bitch Bouge explodes spectacularly in his jet. He's annoying as hell with his psychotic need to kill.

Even in Macross, they still be dabbin' on them folks, lmao

Cool. But Your Lie in April...silly? I don't comprehend how that show can be described as silly.

lmfao at yottsun not being dead. I can't even comprehend why he would have been fake killed off in the first place or what the point of him coming back is.

The twist at the end would've been better if it was Lovepon but I think that might have actually killed me
To deliver those chops obviously.

Watch Fate/Zero followed by Fate Stay/Night: Unlimited Blade Works. Both are up on Netflix and the action's fantastic. They're not that similar to Seven Deadly Sins though so if it's more of an adventure show you're looking for with good fights then you can't go wrong with Hunter x Hunter.

Rewatching GuP movie againjust to wrap up my rewatching of pretty much all of GuP: some things from the first match I noticed:

- Duck Team ambushing the Crusader with the Japanese newbie inspires her to use disguise tactics in the main match later
- Momo's aiming (Turtle team) is so atrocious that when attempting to hit two tanks directly in front of her she manages to fire almost 45 degrees off-target and hits a Crusader tank in mid-air instead for her first kill of the entire series
- I somehow missed that Katuscha deliberately used herself to shield the Churchill flag tank from the Panzer IV's shot for the matchpoint shot. Good show!

Legend of Galactic Heroes 01

I was in the mood for something engaging so I started watching this, it was a long time coming. A lot of the details and discussions were a bit overwhelming, especially the names and positions but I got the gist of things.

Not surprising but the grand scale of things has been a welcome setting, been a while since I've delved into something like this. Battles are a game of strategy and assessment over individual skill in combat so it makes sense that it is mostly in the perspective of the higher officials of war. Consequently it even gave rose to discussions on how their decisions affect soldiers and when having to work with incompetent higher ups.

I'm looking forward to watch more of this.

Even for this show, this episode was unusually well animated. It also featured some sequences of unusually good direction, perhaps due to Shin Wakabayashi co-storyboarding it.

Stop right now and go watch the movie Overture to a New War, which covers the events of the first two episodes of the OVA series, only much better.

Huh really? I've got 64 episodes and checked the wiki and that's the same number of episodes from start to finish. Guess UK viewers are lucky.

After seeing all the positive buzz around the show, I blitzed it yesterday and wow it was so good! The tank fights were awesome. I have nothing bad to say about it except the late introduction of Nekota and team Anteater. Just seemed rushed and well "hey we got this new tank so let's just put these characters in". Would have been nice to have them appear abit before like the motor club team.

Going to watch the movie later today. Are OVA's necessary?

OVA 6 is the missing Anzio fight and well worth it before watching the movie.

also the best thing about team anteater is that they get fuckin #rekt almost immediately in their first and only match in-series, but still manage to save the day by luck.
they do a lot better in the movie

Yay! Another tankery fan!

The short OVAs which came with the home video releases aren't really necessary and aside from the last one (which is a celebration party post-series) they aren't very good. The longer OVA is the Anzio battle they skipped in the middle of the series and it's well worth watching.

Ova #2 I think does have a really unexpected and hilarious reference in it but that's about it I think.
They are all not really necessary but fun on their own right.
The Swimsuit picking one is kinda absurd as is the camp one, then they have one explaining the workings of the ships. The one that looks at the recon mission against Pravda with Yukari is really fun. As is the final celebration one.

I think Aniplex is still going to be interested in streaming revenue, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it back on Netflix soon enough, only from them instead of Funimation.

If their original contract is structured like tv tokyo's contract with skip beat then no doubt that would happen.

the reason skip beat was licensed for EU with a dub with little issue is because the way the skip beat contract works tv tokyo actually owns the dub not pied piper that is producing it, meaning they were free to license the dub to the EU and cut pied piper out of it.

thus if aniplex had a similar deal with funimation years ago that would mean it shouldn't be an issue for them to rerelease the show everywhere in english like it was before just under their name.

That tends to be the case with a lot of anime; the company that makes the dub and subtitles often don't own those, and they end up belonging to the Japanese company that owns the international rights. That's why many re-releases of anime by different companies will end up having the same dub as the original release, since the previous company that released it doesn't own it.

Of course, there are some older anime where the company that released the anime overseas owns the dub. Since a lot of these companies don't exist anymore, it can be a bit difficult to figure out what company currently has the rights to what. What makes it more complicated is that sometimes a company that ended up with a defunct company's assets may not even realize they have the rights to an English dub of something so obscure. I've heard rumors that some modern day anime companies (like Discotek) just choose to ignore this and release their version with certain dubs without properly having the rights to do so, since nobody seems to notice or care. Not sure if that's true or not, though.

Ace Attorney Episode 10 – Turnabout Goodbyes — 3rd Trial

Well this started to get compelling, perhaps the issue with Ace Attorney is that the writer just cant start stories in interesting manners for beans. This is another situation in which the middle and end greatly outshines the start.

Word? They really on motorcycles now? That aside, I like Ikoma and thought he was right at the end of the last episode to be suspicious of Biba but I didn't think he would be so upfront about it, geez keep it a liitle low key. Mumei probably going to be conflicted between the two sides for a while; by the way that was some good timing by Yukina. The action was pretty good this episode too and still think these kabane fusions look ridiculous.

Netoge: 9

Was funny when they got on Ako's wavelength at the end.

Concrete Revolutio: 22

Wow so the truth is revealed, and brought a lot of details forth, what a great episode it was. And I've been wondering if Kikko was going to get her essence back, if Emi does do it I wonder what would happen next. The upcoming episode looks really interesting.

KIZNAIVER Episode 9 – It's All Over... I Think

The writing will be solid if Norichan wins and Chidori loses. Chidori is as bad as Nico continuously.

Also go Yuta.

I liked the Kacchon Nori backstory stuff. And his upper body.

KIZNAIVER Episode 9

It's pure teenage melodrama, but unlike her previous shows, this one is really gripping me. What a fantastic episode.

Sakamoto 8

I don't know what else to say, it was a fun episode, had its funny moments, its heart. Show won't be winning awards but I'd say it's gonna end up an enjoyable watch and hard to dissuade people against watching as its fairly inoffensive.
