Voltron: Legendary Defender 7

Voltron showed up this ep just to push a ship out of the way. Also to lead intot he next ep where we get a second robeast.

Voltron: Legendary Defender 8

Rarely busting out Voltron is a good thing when it's coupled with only doing it for important encounters like here. Gives the whole concept a greater sense of purpose when Voltron is outclassed as a weapon of last resort rather than just slicing up fodder every ep.

Voltron: Legendary Defender 1

Ehhhh, it's alright. Characters are fine. Visuals are fine, save for a couple moments where Allura's skin tone changes oddly. The voice acting and humor are fine.

It feels very by the numbers.

I will say Voltron transformation sequence was well done.

Voltron S1: end

Fantastic series. It only got better as the episodes went on. I have my gripes with it, but it's no more than the same issues I have with most Anime sci fi. Shit like how useful and perfect every team member is and how they're like geniuses in their regard. Also how humanoid the aliens are, and how they all speak English. Minor gripes I can't hold against this show when it's just a usual suspect though.

The characters got better once they got past their childish bickering. But it's also funny how two of the characters are essentially Mako and Bolin from Korra. We have the goofy guy and the serious hunk, who constantly play off each other and have a love/hate relationship.

As Narag has been mentioning, there are more on foot scenes and fights than voltron fights which works fine by me. This isn't some power Ranger shit where every enemy is gigantic. And the action scenes on foot were pretty fantastic. I'd say episode 10 and 11 were the best by far, as the finale. Show ended with a bang.

I'd give it an 8/10. Took a bit to get off the first planet but once it did it was great.

As a final note I like how varied the team is, it's not just all white guys. I'd say it's a very easy show to binge, I did it tonight and I was satisfied. Can't wait for season 2. Also Keith is my husbando I call him.

Edit: oh and because someone will ask the show ends in a hilarious cliffhanger. Like attack on Titan meets halo levels.

Guys

This voltron show

It's pretty damn good. It's like the revamp of Thundercats before it shat the bed good. Like Im more entertained with this than any other Anime this season. I guess this is what the team can do when they aren't tied behind the avatar hacks
1. Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are hardly hacks. Even if they dropped the ball with The Legend of Korra.
2. You need to do your research because Tim Hedrick, Joshua Hamilton, and May Chan all worked on The Last Airbender/The Legend of Korra. The hacks are closer than you think.
3. Only going off the first episode but the writing is pretty weak so far.
the browner the better
That doesn't sound fetishitic.

I meant that as theshow runners being gone , and yes they dropped the ball so badly on Korra in every aspect, particularly writing they were never able to to recover and just gave up by the end, retconing mythos they had established in the first series and allowing characters to gain powers just because.

And going by finishing the show just now, it was better than anything Korra save for season 3 which was the only one that stood out as good.

Edit: well to be fair the music and action in Korra was better, but I'm not watching this for the choreography and can't expect it to compete with a show based around martial arts.

Yeah, this show has definitely leveled up. The scene with Soshi showing Kazuki his room as well as the confrontation between Kazuki and Canon were both superb bits of character writing, in different ways. With Enomoto handling this episode, there were also some good moments of direction, especially the use of split-screen during Kazuki's conversation with Canon. I always love when a character takes over a split screen through force of personality - it usually is done humorously, but here it was successfully put to serious use.

It always warms my heart to see people shitting on Korra.

Because it's a bad show.

It's really bad, and not just as a sequel.
It's funny because when it was airing I sat down to rewatch last Airbender, which was on amazon prime, with a friend. It being from the non HD Era it wasn't as pretty to watch, and season 1 is also the weaker more childish season. But once it kicked it into high gear it was a non stop fun ride.

I enjoyed Korra as it aired but every season was just groan after groan with the writing and characters. I wasn't even asking for amazing writing, just not what we got.

Season 3 by itself might be worth watching, it'd be a nice experiment to try to have someone watch it with no context to see if they can appreciate without knowledge from the previous seasons.

Season two and season three of atla definitely have a few missteps overall they're probably among the strongest pieces of fiction I've ever seen.

Still haven't watched s3 of korra

Just watch season 3 and call it a day honestly.

Season 1 was off putting and ruined a great villain, not to mention made Korra conveniently be awesome.

Season 2 I won't even mention.

And season 4 was just disappointing. Not bad, just disappointing and a shame the show ended on such a pathetic whimper.

Season 1: Wasn't bad till the end, when yeah...

Season 2: ....... Well the first Avatar story was pretty nice and great looking at least.

Season 3: So awesome and felt like the most adventure-ish, which the series probably could had used more honestly.

Season 4: So disappointing, and felt like the pacing was on the backburner side for far too all. Kuvira could have been a great interesting villain, but they screw up her development along with quite a few other characters as a whole.:|

I wouldn't say it is outright bad, but it was quite a disappointment, and not exactly consistent in quality.

Korra's odd seasons were pretty great.

The even seasons not so much.

Season 4 was such a rush job and the ending ship felt so forced especially after Korra's conversation with Mako I couldn't buy it at all. It was as if they pushed it to appease their hardcore shipping fanbase.

So disappointing after season 3 was arguably the best animated season that year.

Korra S2 was so crap I dropped it and never looked back
Season 3 and 4 are legitimately better and it shows immensely. Mir's back on for the entirety instead half Pierrot and Mir and I also feel the web-only nature of it let them be a little more crazy with it. (Or maybe the web-only is a result of the nature of the stuff in it.)

I mean, there's a couple deaths on there that are pretty intense. You don't see it but someone's head explodes. Like say what you will about the ending (you either like it or hate it) but the last 2 seasons aren't bad by any means. S2 is really the only bad one.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable: Episode 10:

Ah, I see we finally found the plot and indeed the urgency which has been lacking as of late.
It's ironic that you talk about urgency in an episode where the characters move with no sense of urgency whatsoever.

The lack of urgency in an urgent situation was even turned into a gag.

The best fast food trip ever.

How does this show keep churning out hits episode after episode? It really is firing on all cylinders all the time. At this rate, this'll end up one of my favorite comedies since Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru.

Can't even blame you, season 2 was some terrible shit that came back for like two episodes with the backstory then went straight back to being shit. Season 3 was better though but the series as a whole is so disappointing compared to ATLA and Korra is just a terrible character in general.

Lost Village 11
A much better episode this week, the highlight of this show is the absurd interactions between the cast, not the uninteresting mystery of Nanako. Whenever you've got a bunch of characters in a room together, it usually turns out gold.

It might be time for that myself. It's always a good time to revisit art.

The CGI is terrible and it makes the monster even more creepy. Masaki the witch vs Lovepon vs giant cg monster for the finale.

One episode left. What was the point of having a cast of 30 characters when most of them didn't do anything?

[The Lost Village] - 11

I'd never recommend anyone to actually watch this series because of poorly directly and plodding it is. That being said, I thought this was probably one of the better episodes of the series - which, because of the above, really isn't saying much.

I do have to say that, for a LOST-esque series, I do think it handles its characters and story in a less dishonest way than Lost.

The series is what it appears to be on the surface - a bunch of characters going to a weird location to have a therapy session to work out their inner demons. Sure there's a bunch of supernatural stuff in there as well, but it's all in service of that core theme - it's not superfluous.

Where as in Lost lots of plot/lore/weird stuff that happened was there purely to entertain the audience and keep people guessing while they kept stringing the show along for as long as humanly possible as opposed to actually being integral to the themes of the show.

Sure, The Lost Village is a far shorter series, so its far easier to have everything actually planned out ahead of time so it all links back in on itself, but it is still notable that it achieves all its goals on that level.

Walter White is getting in the way of me having time and interest in watching more anime or even spending time writing detailed anime impressions. So my backlog grows. RIP.

Going to be interesting to see your opinions on Exodus (and I guess the bridging movie).

I think from a writing perspective it (Exodus) did some things better but didn't come together coherently at the end.

Tragedy porn aside, Fafner S1 did have some great story/character moments.

You know if they would have just ran after Okuyasu in the beginning instead of talking then running then stopping to talk again they probably would have reached him in time.

I have a theory that every fan of shonen who is both male and over the age of 12 is actually the reincarnation of a deceased fujoshi. What do you all think?

It was arguably better this time because you notice all the beats of the show the second time around. Also got 2 other people to watch it with me that also made it better.

I hate that they reuse the same Voltron Animation each time like the old one AND the reason I hate it is because the transformation's in space where so far they've only formed Voltron inside atmospheres of planets. And I think the accompanying music is lame as well.

Honestly I'm not surprised this is the decision they've come since since the humans have gone out their way to treat them like trash. Kill them Jiro, kill them all.

Huh. Re:Zero has 25 episodes? That's kind of random. I just assumed 12 based on the fact its yet another "im in fantasy world" thing.

Are you watching it? No way it would be done in 12.

And it's not a typical "im in fantasy world" show.
Because it's not gonna finish anyways. It's light novel crap of course it won't.
