So many sequels get blasted for being essentially remakes of earlier entries, but somehow it has the total opposite effect on this one.
Avatar, to this day, is one of the only movies I've enjoyed enough to see twice in the theatres. The other being How to Train your Dragon 2.
Nah. Creed is a nice feel good movie but it is literally just a rehash of the original. Good film, not great. Both are masterpieces! Creed's just a masterfully made popcorn flick. Definitely the best movie I've seen this year.
This too
This post is hilarious.Wow, already dropped down to 81 on Metacritic! Kind of disappointing!
I can rest easy now that it's a FACT that Mad Max: Fury Road is the best film of 2015.
lol.
Creed is a well executed popcorn flick. Mad Max is damn near a masterpiece.

Mad Max will go down in the pantheon of great films this decade. Creed, while solid, is not going to be making those lists.

lol you cant use metacritic for your rotten tomatoes prediction... smh
Some asshole just purposely spoiled the movie in Facebook before I could block her ass.
I'm so angry right now. I seriously feel like crying.
People can say what they want, but seeing that movie in IMAX 3-D was an unforgettable experience. It's trendy to hate on it now, but man...blew me away.Avatar, to this day, is one of the only movies I've enjoyed enough to see twice in the theatres. The other being How to Train your Dragon 2.

Not sure what is controversial about that opinion. If you were to make a list of the top films of the decade so far, you would be hard pressed to not have Mad Max on that list. This board really loves Mad Max
Holy...
By episode IX, it'll be trendy to hate Star Wars (again), likely due to overexposure by the spinoffs rather than a decline in quality.People can say what they want, but seeing that movie in IMAX 3-D was an unforgettable experience. It's trendy to hate on it now, but man...blew me away.

She was hopefully just being a dickhead and making shit up to annoy people (assuming it was just text, and not a pic from the movie). I've already heard of others doing that on facebook.

Oh boy is this thread really going to devolve into yet another argument about Avatar's merits as a film?

Not just GAF, most critics. This board really loves Mad Max

But it's really really great at being a feel good movie. Feel good movies aren't intrinsically worse than Mas Max hahaNah. Creed is a nice feel good movie but it is literally just a rehash of the original. Good film, not great.

I thought those 70/72% predictions or lower were a bit nuts. I mean, even Jurassic World got a 71%
Most people who see Mad Max really love it.
it's not a weird opinion to have.

For such a forgettable film with no impact it certainly stays on the mind of gaffers.
The formal, technical film stuff in Mad Max is amazing. Stuff like cinematography, editing, sound design, sound mixing, etc. Combine that with the production design, fight choreography, effects... It's the best action movie in decades. In a lot of ways it's a real candidate for best action movie ever.
Creed is a nice boxing movie. Okay, a really nice boxing movie. But they just aren't even playing in the same league.
You seem mad people like this film.

Well, it is a masterpiece.

Taking away my own opinion, it is pretty much the consensus best action film of the last 5 years. That sort of film gets recognized.
I'm curious about the event itself. When it's something as big as this, I'm more interested in how people react to it, than any opinion I might have about the quality of the product.
Not really.
It's just a pretty reliable trigger once tossed into a conversation. Everyone gets in line to do their part of the pre-choreographed dance and then eventually the derail burns itself out.
People can say what they want, but seeing that movie in IMAX 3-D was an unforgettable experience. It's trendy to hate on it now, but man...blew me away.
Right? I saw it with a friend who hates boxing films and his opinion was that it was incredibly well made technically, he just doesn't care about boxing.id argue that creed's directing was far more interesting and fresh than any boxing movie ever made. the second fight was amazing and one of the best scenes Ive seen in a movie all year.
just because one movie is more "grand" and another is much smaller, doesnt make it better.
of course mad max is topping awards and creed isnt. creed deserves to be on these lists but politics will keep it off some
Creed is pretty cliche reliant, a bit campy and barely hides that it is basically retreading the original. Not to mention not having seen the previous films reduces a lot of the films potency. The direction is really good and the acting is solid, which elevates an otherwise fairly by the numbers boxing story and script. But it's really really great at being a feel good movie. Feel good movies aren't intrinsically worse than Mas Max haha
Creed is really well done from a filmmaking perspective as well. Both are some of the best movies I've seen in a loong time, I don't think "it's just a feel good movie" is a valid criticism though haha.
You certainly could, but like I said, given the way this film is being received from critics, film goers and pretty much every crowd exposed to it, it's poised to be on many of those lists.Meh, I liked Mad Max quite a bit and think it's a seriously impressive work of filmmaking, but I could make a top films of the decade list that it didn't come in spitting distance of.
Opinions!!
