There is hdr at least on pc but you have to activate hdr in windows first, on reeee a guy said that hdr in this game is "typical" , i don't clearly understand what that means, probably not as remarkable as other titles like gears 5 or death stranding.
Bought the game on PS4. It has HDR and an in game slider to adjust hdr brightness. Game looks very pretty and I'm enjoying it!

Wow ok. Well I guess I won’t get it until after release then. Probably with premier. Strange move by EA but I’m not that surprised. Every decision they make is anti consumer it feels like.

Don't think it's an EA thing. Lucasfilm does this with Star Wars lately due to spoiler culture.

They didn't hold the Hollywood premiere for Mandalorian until two days AFTER it debuted on Disney+ to hide the spoiler at the end of the first episode.

Movies re similar. The premiere in Hollywood is the Friday before release, then media gets to see it the Monday or Tuesday after that and reviews go up hours before the first international showings.

A lot of people are calling this a Souls-like game.

And yet I can’t count the number of times I saw people, earlier this year, admonishing others for having had the audacity to compare Sekiro with Dark Souls.

If I had to ‘prepare’ someone for a Souls game, and had the choice between setting them up with Sekiro, or this Star Wars game, I’d set them up with Sekiro, which is the true spiritual cousin to Dark Souls.

Really? I mean... it’s weird the way gamers think sometimes.
Are you going to be ok? You seem genuinely upset/annoyed/confused about people actually being excited for something you're not.

Its stupid. Its not a soul like game. I bet most players wont even die 10 times in the entire game.

This is Star Wars. They wanted to make it more accessible, at least as an option. If you play on the Jedi Grand Master difficulty you bet your ass you'd die a lot more than 10 times.

Everyone is entitiled to their opinion, but what are you basing yours off of? Have you played it already? Until I play it or read reviews, I have only what Respawn has said to go off, and they say the combat and world layout is like what you would find Souls game. If they're full of shit, so be it, but I'll wait until the game is out to call them on it.

I am confused though? Why is Sekiro not considered to be Souls-like, but this Star Wars game is? That’s weird to me.

I’m also a little confused as to why you think we shouldn’t ask questions like that at a gaming forum?

Oh come on.... do you really believe that, back to back, this Star Wars game will be comparable with Dark Souls?

Hope it's great and much better than star wars ps1 or star wars the force unleashed, and the most important is alot upgradable and feature with in-game money.

Is this the most blatant checklist designed game of all times ? I mean the amalgamation of all design cliches from this generation is so in your face its funny.

I can clearly picture EA executives sitting in a room thinking how to maximise profits from the game and deciding to use everything that was successfull in other games.

From the streams the world is so gamey like a track designed specificaly for the main character to traverse. Ledges with white paint, walls for running, ice skating, ropes hanging in the most unlikely places etc.

Oh and Dark Souls seems to be popular these days why dont we add bonfires and respawing enemies to the game too, logic and common sense be damned.

I'm waiting for journos to stumble over each other praising it like the best game they have ever played

On PC and I'm really enjoying the game and feeling a really strong Prince of Persia vibe with the traversal. I like the combat so far, I thought there was a slight pause to some of the combat animations, but then I found that you can't attack if you are pressing the guard button, you must release the button before attacking. I'm playing on the hardest difficulty and I've already died a couple of times to some basic creatures so you can't just button mash, it does take some skill. I've always wanted an adventure game like this that had some of the trappings of Dark Souls but a bit toned down on the difficulty. If you fall off a ledge it places you right back in the same place within seconds which is also nice.

The HDR on PC looks awesome to me, I'm running Ultra at 4K maxed with some slight hiccups during some cut scenes. The only issue I have so far is the holomap, it looks like it could be difficult to read if the locations get complicated with alternate routes.

Respawn did amazing work with titan fall 2. I wish this ran as smoothly as that game did. So far it’s fun but no where near as clean.

It's obviously heavily influenced by Uncharted and TR mixed with a small amount of Souls. Honestly the gameplay I've seen so far did make it seem more interesting to me than Uncharted. But yeah it looks like this will be an easy mid 80s MC.

Been watching a stream and....game looks kinda bad, imo. Main character looks like a doofus, the environments are bland, and, yea, I'm just not feeling it at all.

You will find a workbench where you can customize your light saber you will find it there.

If it's in the 1st planet you land then nope. I can customize my lightsaber but only have blue and green. No orange or the other hilts I was supposed to get :_

They both aren't. This game isn't Dark Souls, same as Sekiro. There is a shit load going on in a Souls game that makes it what it is besides combat. Souls is the closest thing people can compare it to combat wise, but that doesn't make it a Souls game.

I was at the mall, looking for a toilet auger and when I passed by the local gameshop, they said they just received Fallen Order. I thought, why not. I haven't bought a game in a while now. So here's my roughly 3-4 hours impressions of Fallen Order on the base PS4.

Graphics are okay, they can look kinda rough on the base PS4. Clippings are quite evident, I've experienced quite a few stuttering while running and changing areas. It bothered my slightly, The first intro level was really nice I thought, some cool set pieces, almost akin to Uncharted 2 train set piece in the beginning actually, but with Star Wars flavor. The 2nd planet, wasn't really feeling it at all. A lot of stuttering I noticed. Its more of an extension of the tutorial area. I'm on my 3rd planet now, and it feels way better than the 1st. The 1st planet almost left a lasting bad impression because I spent quite some time on it.

Controls feel a floaty, there's a lag when the character moves. Would be nice if the movement was more on point. Definitely not as good feeling as say, Uncharted or God of War. But since Respawn is more known for their 1st person shooters, I give them some leeway. Wall running feels much better in Titanfall, haha. The irony.

Combat wise, its okay so far. Would prefer if it was less floaty and had more impact to it. I can see the comparisons to Sekiro, though I've not played Sekiro personally. I'm playing on Jedi Master difficulty (3rd hardest), and for humanoid enemies, the focus seems more on parrying and counter. For monster enemies, you could slash away but I have to say, its quite hard this game. The normal rat monsters can easily kill you if you aren't paying attention. One thing I will say is different compared to Soulsborne games, is that when you die, you need to come back and hit the enemy that killed you to get back your XPs. Its not on the ground, so that threw me off a bit. Skill tree opens up many new moves for lightsaber combat, and has upgrades for health, force abilites, etc.

I think the aspect I love the most about this game is the exploration. The map is littered with things to collect, you collect info from dead enemies, things to scan, some lore bits from the environment, flower seeds, upgrades to health stims, costumes for almost everything, lightsaber parts. And I appreciate it that its not being told on the map, you just go there, find a box or thing, and you get...stuff. I like the level design, there's small puzzles along the way, there's almost always optional pathways and shortcuts to unlock.

Music is appropriately Star Wars sounding. Story bits seem fine so far. You're thrust pretty fast into the action. Dialogue is okay. This is supposed to bridge Episode 3 and Episode 4 yes? I had a great time so far with the game. I love 3rd person action games, games like Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, etc. I feel like this game scratches that itch for those type of games quite well.

I’ve sadly not seen anything on this game (damn kids), but I’m gonna have to check it out. I’ve been hearing some great things.

Was watching a bit, some huge sections just seem to be lifted right out of Uncharted.... the train bit for instance.
It looks alright, hard to know how the combat feels from just watching but I'll wait on reviews and get it closer to Christmas if they are any good.

I just think one of Sony WWS would have done a better Star Wars game tbh. Same way I feel about the Avengers game.

My buddy was playing this yesterday. First thing I asked him was if the combat was anywhere near Dark Souls. He said absolutely not. I figured the pre release hype was all bullshit but I still felt disappointed. The idea that Respawn would put that level of challenge into a game designed to catch the widest possible market didn't ever seem realistic, but a part of me really wanted to believe Respawn would have the balls to do it. I guess I'll wait for a sale on it.

What difficulty was he playing at? Previewer made the Dark Souls comparison too, but just respawn themselves.

On bets/guesses on if this will be $40'ish for Black Friday sales?

Not that I mind spending $60 mind you, just still have to finish Death Stranding then will get this on X1X.

Do you work for Kotaku?

Just to confirm, do you have game mode enabled on your TV?

He said he was playing the highest one which I figured he would be. He's one of them guys who looks down on scrubs like me who always play games on standard

I'm not entirely sure. I'll have to check. I haven't experienced it with any other 3rd person action games, and I have never tinkered with the TV settings. But yeah, I'll check.

Nothing wrong with using a formula that works. I would. Today's critics (such as yourself) are too picky.

It is not as brutal as dark souls, but is the same style. Meditation spots to replenish health and force, which will also respawn all enemies. Also need to retrieve your XP from the enemy who defeated you.
