I have a baaaaad feeling about this.

I'm watching this dude playing on twitch he's 5 hours in and he says it's not that good. But again he's saying it was hoping to play like sekiro. He said is more like tomb raider so far.
He's playing on the highest difficulty
Someone also ask him sekiro or this ? He said sekiro by a mile.

My impressions by watching.
Too floating
Obvious path I mean it lights up

He said Keep In mind it's early so yeah

It's not supposed to be Sekiro and never was. It wasn't even marketed to be like that.

No worries there, I actually didn't care for Sekiro and I love Demon Souls/Dark Souls Trilogy/Bloodborne. But Sekiro, eh, I mean I can appreciate it, but it's the same way I can appreciate Ninja Gaiden on Xbox OG. I'm just not one of those kinds of players, so this is right up my alley.

Sure git gud and all that, but Sekiro is not for me at all.

And I pulled the trigger and got it on X1X anyhow, downloading now.

Ugh. Performance on my PC is a drag. I have an old ass 2550k/970, but something here is still wrong. I even dropped it all the way down to 720p and Medium preset, and I still am getting random stutters, hitches and freezes. There are drops into the 20s, but also random hitches where the view totally freezes for almost a full second. I have the latest nvidia driver. I disabled vsync, but that just introduced awful tearing, without otherwise improving performance. This is nearly unplayable right now. Not sure what else I can do here. My rig plays Battlefront 2 (2017 version, in case any wise guys were planning on accusing me of comparing to the 2005 version lol) pretty much locked at 60fps at 1080p on High, and 1440p on Medium. So not sure wtf is going on here. Sure this is probably more demanding than BF2, but THIS much more demanding?

I'm not entirely sure. I'll have to check. I haven't experienced it with any other 3rd person action games, and I have never tinkered with the TV settings. But yeah, I'll check.

If gaming mode is turned off and you are fine with it in other games, you have probably just adjusted to it.
I know that I completely forget to turn gaming mode on on my TV sometimes, I'd play Uncharted 4 for an hour and then realise I hadn't turned it on yet. Uncharted 4 is pretty responsive without gaming mode but it's even more responsive with it on. lol

Yes. It's the latest iteration of the UE4 and not designed for anything below minimum spec. You are looking at the best of the current generation before next-gen starts next year.

Well I'm not below minimum specs. Though I am below recommended. Other people apparently are having better results than I am with a 970, so not sure what's going on.

If you have Afterburner installed, run it while playing and make sure you are not maxing out your Vram.

Well, it's not like I can go lower than medium textures (I guess there's no "low"). Maybe I'm CPU bound. Framerates at 1440 and 720 aren't much different. Using CoreTemp I see the CPU occasionally pegging at 100% on all cores, but typically bouncing around the 70s-80s. No longer overclocking my CPU because in its old age it started to lose stability at anything approaching or above 4ghz.

It got a little better after that first area. That first platforming section was baaaad, but on the train I had a lot less issues for whatever reason.

Been delaying a rebuild until I felt like I could really get a worthwhile upgrade at a reasonable price. Well, this is the first game that seems to be giving me real issues. Forget about Cyberpunk, I think I need a new build prior to that one...

I think there's a reason EA didn't allow reviews until the game is out.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, take me out with a Death Star.

I'll be waiting for reviews to poor in here in a half hour when the game goes live. I'm not buying until I get a good range
of reviews.

Anyone know how the refund system will work for this game? Will Steam honor a refund or do we have to use Origin's refund system?

So play under 2 hours and if you don't like it for one reason or another, you can get a refund through Steam.

39 minutes for my X1X version on the digital pre-order.

Reminds me of Jedi Outcast 2/Jedi Academy, and that's a good thing.

My only wish is that Disney would go fuck itself so we could have a proper Kyle Katarn in 2019.

JK2 remains maybe my favorite PC game of all time, maybe. Up there for sure. Loved the shit out of that game. Kyle Katarn a damn legend.

Been watching some videos, and...it looks ok? Like, mediocre, safe, exactly what's been done before. Combat is your typical open world style for mass appeal, you traverse the environment like the Lara Croft games, there's some RPG lite mechanics, there's a Doom 2016 style map, you basically get told what to do and where to go. You rest, enemies respawn, you get xp...but that's about it for the Dark Souls comparison. It's not that kind of game in terms of tight combat, exploration and difficulty.

Anyone gotten to a point where the game has any surprises?

9/10 from IGN.
It’s been ages since we got a great single-player Star Wars action game, but Jedi: Fallen Order makes up for a lot of lost time. A strong cast sells a dark story while keeping things fun and loyal to Star Wars lore, and fast, challenging combat mixes with energetic platforming, decent puzzles, and diverse locations to explore for an all-around amazing game.

May the Force guide us all! :messenger_grinning_smiling: Just playing, still sorta sore about their DS review.

Mid-range i7 and 1070 ti

maxed out settings at 1440p (chromatic AB. Off and film grain off)

getting 60-75 FPS running around the first area. Looks pretty good, probably gonna add .10 sharpening thru Nvidia control panel

M+KB feels alright but gonna go to controller

Shit. I was fucking around with drivers and stuff earlier after the issues I was having. I guess that combined with having been connected to a VPN a few hours ago to play the game early, I'm now locked out of the game.

According to google, I have to wait a FULL 24 hours since the last time I tried to launch the game. Fuck you EA and your DRM bullshit. Paying customers get burned. I already have 2FA enabled, so obviously this was me, and nobody else accessing my account. This'll probably get cracked today, and pirates will be playing it before I regain access. Waiting for EA chat support to see if they can manually reset my shit, but I'm only 10th in line after almost 1/2 hour waiting. Fine, whatever, I'll go to bed. But now this probably means I can't play this until Saturday now. F U EA.

EDIT: EA support chat moron claims there's absolutely nothing they can do, and they suggest I wait 24 hours. Unreal.

Apparently it's very Dark Souls-y. I did not expect that. Looking forward to playing it.

Mostly because the combat is not hack n slash, its more methodical. There's the bonfire and estus flasks equivalent, there's that whole risk reward thing going on, but difficulty is nowhere near souls. At least on the 2nd highest difficulty. Other than that, I'd akin it to a more adventure type game.

I started on second highest difficulty thinking this was truly “Souls-like.” Its not, as far as difficulty, at least not yet. Gonna bump it up to max difficulty

Just played an hour or so of it. I love it. It’s not as floaty as it looks. I like the controls and story so far.

Kinda wish I'd rented this over Death Stranding at this point. I am a local courier irl and death stranding is MORE tedious than my actual job, this game actually looks fun. Guess I prefer the stick to the rope :messenger_squinting_tongue:

Is this the dark souls of star wars games??

As far as I played yes but if you play with the 2 highest difficulties. I'm playing on Jedi Knight and you have to time your swings, your blocks, your parrys, dodge and have space awareness. Bosses even have unblocable attacks and you have to react fast.

Also, "bonfires" to save and heal, levels, when you die you have to recover your lost exp by attacking the enemy that killed you, etc. Very souls-like.

Nothing wrong with using a formula that works. I would. Today's critics (such as yourself) are too picky.
can better do that when u want to make a mainstream hit then be like death stranding wich get alot of shit even though it did alot of unique new things :/

Anyways, so they did build it like a souls game in terms of mechanics and its nice that you can play with alot of different modes.

Fuck, I need to go to bed, but I love this game so far. Took me like 25 minutes to kill that first miniboss, I'm assuming as early as you can fight him. I got the same feeling after winning as I did when I first beat Vanguard in Demon's Souls.

Anyway, the exploration is fun, traversal is good, combat is great. This is exactly what I had hoped the game was and more.

Biggest downside for me right now is the performance. I have an old i7 and 970, and at 720p I'm still dropping down into ~20FPS on top of the cliffs of the first non-tutorial area. I know I need a card with more VRAM, but I really hope they do some sort of performance patch, since it seems to be pretty universal that everyone's getting drops.

If you're a souls/tomb raider/uncharted/star wars fan, this game is a safe buy.
