Star Wars Land Coming to Disney Parks

brb going to go knock a lady up so I can have a kid ready in time to take to opening day

Adoption is less costly and helps children in need though. Plus you can get a kid who already is excited about going to Star Wars Land rather than having to instill a desire into teaching a kid to want to go!

OP updated with the additional details about Star Tours, Season of the Force, and Launch Bay.

Isn't Frozen Ever After the new ride at Epcot? They talked about it a bit.
They mentioned it but didn't give any details. I give me half-credit on that one

I don't think he's really looking to get a kid just for an excuse to go to a theme park attraction :p

Do people give adults without kids ugly looks at parks or something? Cause fuck em if so, I'm goin lock stock once the SW one opens.

Aren't their rumours that ToonTown is on the chopping block?

They recently bought up a chunk of land out to the east a little way. It's too far to be part of the parks, but there's speculation that they're going to move some administration/staff parking out there which should open up some additional space to expand into.

They're not going to get rid of Star Tours. It'll be part of the land.

I thought that was his point; the plot of land will integrate the existing Star Wars content somehow.

Mind you, I quite like the Ewok Village queueing area; it'd be a bit of a shame to lose that, but it probably won't fit with the new surroundings; it's designed to look like a film set (the trees just stop!), whereas this seems to be intended to be a fully-integrated environment.

I just wish Universal would let Disney have their Marvel rides. Nothing against Universal Studios, but I just enjoy Disneyland more.

On-topic, when can we expect this to be done?

Imagine trying to drink at the cantina.

"Can u see your ID sir?"

"You don't need to see my identification."

I give it a week before the staff has devised comebacks to virtually all Star Wars lines.

I pity any poor bastard whose name is actually Luke.

Imagine two castmembers walking up and sitting on either side of him.

"He doesn't like you. I don't like you either!"

I've had a few encounters with the stormtroopers in Tomorrowland. They were awesome every time.

If the cantina's anything like that Star Trek restaurant they used to have in Vegas in terms of interaction, it'll be a good time. The Klingons and Ferengi there were a hoot.

I have a burning question: is Star Wars Land (Disney World version) an expansion to an existing park or an entirely new gate (park)? The announcement is coy and doesn't quite confirm it at least in IGN. But then they announce Toy Story Land as a clear expansion for Disney Hollywood Stufios.

So what is it then? Is DHS getting two big expansions for Toy Story and SW? Or is Star Wars getting its own theme park?

Did they give any hints as to when they will be updating Star Tours this year or is it just "at some point soon!!' ?

They officially announced Star Tours would get a Force Awakens update later this year.

The Star Wars Launch Pad TFA exhibit will be installed in Innoventions in Disneyland and the Animation Building in DHS in November/December.

Jedi Training Academy will get a Rebels update.

In early 2016 Space Mountain in both parks will get a seasonal Star Wars overlay called Hyperspace Mountain, Disneyland will have SW entertainment in Tomorrowland and DHS will get Star Wars fireworks.

Awesome, thank you! Going to Disneyland later this year so hopefully I will be able to catch some of the new stuff. :)

It's an expansion to DHS.

I used to really like simulator rides. Had some great memories of the old Star Tours trench run. However, it just doesn't do anything for me anymore. Mission to Mars is more fun with its Gs. It feels like they should make the shuttle cab seating arrangement more realistic. Failing that they should rip the roof off and put a dome screen over it. A compact version built into the roof would work too, but leaves less room for practical effects. A combination of video and practical effects would make the ride a lot more fun. A few sparks and fog in the cabin doesn't cut it anymore.

That's billion with a B.

Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land at DHS was rumor to cost 3 billion.

The Radiator Springs ride at DCA alone cost 1 billion. The ride alone.

4 billion for Lucasfilm was a steal.

They will make that back in merchandise alone in 5 years. For fucks sake Cars had made 10 billion in merchandise sales and DVD sales combined. No wonder they are making a 3rd movie. Cars Land in DHS would be amazing as well.

The decision to have it at Disneyland probably comes from where they have more space to work with as DCA doesn't have much.

Well they could tear down 3/4 of California Adventure and replace it with other stuff, and not much of value would be lost. All the cool stuff in DCA, Cars Land aside, takes up like a quarter of the park. The rest is pretty useless.
