System Reqs would probably be somewhat in flux until close to release as they work on improving performance and compatibility (see this related dev post) - even then, you can't honestly expect them to be the same minimum requirements that WoW sported 7 years ago. Hell, Blizzard bumped the minimum specs an expansion or two ago and caused a mini-uproar.

WoW came out 7 years ago. I really doubt a system that can barely run WoW will also be able to run TOR on low.
7 years!? Christ has it really Bren that long since I Beta tested WoW! Man time flies!

Loved the large pictures released on beta cake and the new bounty hunter video. Still disappointed when I see no beta invite in my inbox :D

Get rid of it. Done.

Maybe allow them to use "distractions" or something. I just know I don't want to be stuck running from rock to wall to tree when the other players get to run around freely.

I especially want to see how a cover vs melee fight plays out. I don't see any why it couldn't look corny.

You are making the assumption that these classes spend all their time in cover, when from what we have seen, they don't have to at all. It's a bonus they can get that is used for some specific abilities, but majority of their capabilities have nothing to do with cover.

I don't see the problem at all especially since it already looks corny that you got people standing around shooting at each other with tons of blaster shots like nothing, yet it's odd to have a melee guy attacking someone trying to hide behind a box? Frankly the melee situation sounds and looks more plausible to me than the ranged combat GI Joe shooting action we get.

WoW's requirements now are very different from when it came out. A system that can run modern WoW at "Good" at 30fps can also run SC2 and Portal 2, for example.
Oh really? Well then maybe the specs will be similar.

He's going to collect their heads and turn them in to Bioware in return for beta access.

I'm in the beta already. Just pisses me off to see people violating the NDA.

It just seems like they're being allowed to violate it here because they're posting glowing impressions, but if anyone were to post something negative they'd probably be kicked out of the beta by the BioWare watchdog in this thread.

The people in this thread speak either so vaguely that you learn nothing new about the contents, or they speak about things that have already been revealed publicly. As I've pointed out before, the Bioware staff here have even replied to some of those posts. If it doesn't bother them I'm not sure why you're so determined to be upset.

Why does it piss you off? Who cares? I'm glad people are spilling some info out for those of us not in the beta.

Because if someone posts something incorrect, those who abide by the beta rules can't even correct them.

Can't you get banned for this? I figured there was a reason no one else was linking directly.
You can only get banned for directly breaking the NDA yourself, as far as I'm aware posting information from other sources is fine.

I'm sure everyone already knows Betacake, I was just redirecting you guys to their site. If I shouldn't, I'll gladly remove the links. But since I'm not in the beta myself I don't see any harm in this, to be honest.

Quote something that has been said in this thread which you believe to be incorrect.

There's been quite a bit - especially people talking about things from sites about poorly baked goods. It's been hard to bite my tongue at times. We both know what the NDA says, and what the devs have explicitly said you are allowed to talk about ( 1) there is a beta, 2) that you are in it) - and we both know you and others have gone quite a bit beyond that.

Does it bother me? Yeah, a little. Why? B/c I'm following the rules as best I can so as not to be booted from the program, yet others are openly flaunting them and have no apparent repurcussions.

Well most people in this thread is either in the beta or interested in joining the beta, and any discussion of the content would violate the NDA. With BioWare monitoring this thread, we could get in trouble.

I don't see how anyone posting here is going to get banned when no one has given any hints as to who they are. Like if someone said "Dude, the flash point on Tatooine where you kill a krayt dragon at the end is awesome!" How would they get kicked out of the beta? Unless Bioware kicks every person who ever did that flash point they would have no idea who it was. I'm not supporting leaking everything, I'm just confused how people would get kicked without supplying obvious account info.

Exactly. There's a lot of stuff in this thread that's flat out wrong, or spun in a way to make it way more positive than the truth, but those who follow the rules just have to bite their tongue.

You could just, y'know, point out what's wrong. Instead of just stewing sullenly.

Check the context. He was referring specifically to beta testers from this thread. GAF posters have not leaked one new screenshot, not one single story spoiler, not one new game mechanic, not one new ability. They speak so vaguely that there are barely any facts to assert as right or wrong, but he was specifically directing his ire at them.

So now you're disingenuously going to act like betacake = GAF testers? Nice to see you stay consistent.

If someone posts something that is wrong, just say "no that is wrong". Don't think that breaks NDA

Anything other than saying Yes there is a beta and Yes I am in it breaks the NDA. BioWare has said that MULTIPLE times.

I get why this would suck, but it's just like anytime someone us wrong on the internet: deep breaths, preserve your sanity.

This is what the thread has become:

Leaks lead to anger, anger leads to hate and hate... leads to banning.

A tad off topic I guess but has anyone else read the comics from the old republic era, not just the new ones directly related to the game but the older ones as well?

The KOTOR series set around the time period of the other two games? They're a mixed bag, IMO. It's got a rather involved and interesting story but remarkably poor art and kind of unrelatable characters. I'd recommend giving it a try, but expect to love it or hate it.

There's a new cherry on the cake.
Some low level character went to higher level planets to take screenshots. There are things that give this away. He's probably shown enough now for Bioware to track him down. You could even guesstimate his level from one of those shots.

I loved the KOTOR comic series. It has a weak start, but it ended up being one of my favorite set of EU characters adn stories. It takes place a few years before KOTOR1 and features a few cameos, one of whom is a major player.

I have not read the new "Old Republic" specific ones.

The 50 issue KOTOR series is set during the Mandalorian War prior to the original KOTOR game. It is a pretty good series though once it's main arc ends, the quality drops off and it kind of goes off on random adventures instead of a focused story. It's good for about the first 30 issues when it had a story, after that you can stop as the art and stories go down the drain.

The TOR comics so far have been pretty forgettable with two of the series being webcomics just reprinted and had shit art. The new series going has much better quality overall but has only had one issue released so far.

Without breaking the NDA, I'm really surprised they are keeping up the NDA. Or if anything, unrestrict sections of the game from the NDA (say starter planets or something).

At some point with the amount of testers they say they plan to add over time, it will be impossible to shut off the faucet soon.

For those in the beta are there a lot of green spaces in the game? I love exploring lush environments ect. From what I've seen from that cake blog it looks like a lot of futuristic cities which are cool in there own right but I want to know about green spaces. I want to explore untamed foreign planets lol.

If you want to explore untamed planets, there's SWG. Oh wait...
