For those in the beta are there a lot of green spaces in the game? I love exploring lush environments ect. From what I've seen from that cake blog it looks like a lot of futuristic cities which are cool in there own right but I want to know about green spaces. I want to explore untamed foreign planets lol.

I'll admit I'm very curious about this as well, but you know the NDA that's been heating up the last page or two?

Yeah.

I'm pretty sure there will be green jungly planets though; given the large number of planets, Bioware wouldn't miss out on that.

Hmm. Alderaan is pretty green. But it also has giant ass "palaces" I guess you would call them.

But I know what you mean, like a jungle planet, or a forest planet. Don't think there is one. 17 planets at launch, they have desert, ice, city, swamp, but no full green. Dromund Kaas has lots of jungle, but it is depressingly darkside. Bunch of emos over there.

Or those people could just say it anyways?

Anyone with half a brain can realize that things change in a beta, and things that may be broken now, well, they have the best chance to be fixed LATER if they're brought into the sunlight. That's what matters here.

Morn just wants to trash the game passive aggressively while hiding behind the NDA that selectively applies to other people but not him.

Yeah I'm not talking about trashing the game, I just mean bringing issues or design flaws to light.

A small group is not going to be able to pull bugs or flaws out of the system in large numbers, and by the time they do input more people, it will be fixed after release, instead of before.

Hey Ignus, you near level cap yet? I would ask you about the number of flashpoints you've seen, but I don't know whether you can answer that.

After I got used to all the voice over work that was in the beta, I found out that it was basically "WoW, but in the Star Wars Universe". Logged out and never went back in.

I know many people who are really ok with that.

I wouldn't mind taking your beta since you hate it so much.

I'm fine by that. I don't know what everyone expected. I thought it was pretty clear what the game was going to be like.

That's a pretty hefty compliment you just gave tor.

That's great news. WoW is awesome. :)

Yeah, that will happen when a single game changes the entire genre in such an immense way. Ever game after it will copy something. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I don't know, after all the videos and stuff I've read, I'd have to agree with Ignis' comment "It's KOTOR as an MMO." And this is how I've begun describing it. Of course, I've clocked zero hours on it, so I can't say much.

I'd hoped for a different feel to the game & not simply "WoW meets Star Wars" to be perfectly honest. Don't get me wrong, the game seemed fairly slick, for sure, just not my cup of tea, especially after 6+ years in WoW.

Just seems you're burned out on keybinded powers & cooldowns.

The presentation is so fucking different. And the music is godly.

I'm more of an MMO player these days than a normal PC/Console Gamer anymore, so I'll always be looking for an MMO that'll interest me for however long. With that being said, I still might end up playing playing the game anyways, but damn, I definitely won't be touching it for a solid 3+ months after it releases (seriously, I pity anyone wanting to deal with that madness in the 1st week, of insane amounts of players in the starting zones & all the server issues).

Half the fun of MMOs is coming out of the gate and learning stuff with everyone else.

I'm very close to level cap. I don't think it's a good idea to answer that second question with a specific number since it's liable to change.

Some low level character went to higher level planets to take screenshots. There are things that give this away. He's probably shown enough now for Bioware to track him down. You could even guesstimate his level from one of those shots.

Except for the fact that those are shots from Bioware's Press FTP. I guess you'll have to hold the schadenfreude for next time.

If 'tis the case, then I wonder why they showed up on the cake first.

There's also something else about one of those shots that strikes me as odd for official material, but Bioware does what Bioware does I suppose.

I believe something posted in this thread addresses why that won't happen.

I think I know what you're talking about, but is there any evidence that it will be that way in live? I haven't heard of any.

They showed up on Cake because the FTP login was leaked on Reddit and someone grabbed everything before Bioware changed the password.

Edit: Also, a great 10 minute video leaked. I'd say it is even better than the 3 hour leak from a few months ago. This damn game looks like it is ready to go.

Trust me, it's not. I wouldn't expect it until the end of the year.

Now nothing against you, but this is what pisses me off about this thread. Some of you practically salivate at the possibility of turning someone in for leaking, when that statement there blows the hell out of the NDA. Either say nothing, or quit with the cock-tease and spill the beans.

Agree with this post.

There are enough bugs and work left to be done that I don't think the game will be complete for several more months. Happy?

Or I can say nothing while you continue to oggle minutes of leaked footage which represent a small part of the game and create false expectations that the game is ready to go right now. Then you can stew in anger and misery for months while wondering why it hasn't shipped.

I'm not sure how advising you to temper your timeline expectations is a cock-tease. The cock-tease is the video you just watched.

Except for the fact that BioWare said multiple times at E3 that they were FIRM for release in 2011.

Daniel Erickson, during his interview on G4's live coverage, said that a couple times in the interview. EA is just not releasing the exact launch date out of fear of Blizzard doing something to sabotage it.

It'll be out before Thanksgiving. Most likely before BF3.

Any information on the number of planned servers/realms etc? If it's going to be similar to WoW I hope it has a successful and stable launch...

Most of that might already be changed in the internal build, no? I don't know the specific state of the current beta, but last time they had a lot of the issues fixed in the next build (that they were running simultaneously).

No. I think they're still working that up. Not even sure if the European test servers have launched yet.

I hope it doesnt come out before bf3, because then I most likely wont buy bf3 at all. Im hoping it comes out somewhere between bf3 and me3.

I have had a good chance to play this. Will it be out this year? More than likely. Though with the various bugs I've seen in game, it's small things. I've yet to see anything ground breaking to merit this game to be pushed back into next year. Needless to say, I'm ready for this game. I've been seeing folks mention about Comic Con being a place where BioWare has talked big or something about SWToR being shown there in big ways or what not. With Reid teasing with the conductor hat, I'd hope for some new info.

BioWare has done a great job hyping Comic Con for some time now. Even before E3 they were talking about how excited they were about Comic Con. I still think Gamescom and PAX Prime are better venues to announce anything big; they're very close to each other and they should be able to reach a bigger part of their potential market both in NA and EU.

Also remember that the current beta is not the latest version of the game ;) It is just the version that they want you to test (depending on their test scenario on what they want tested).

EA wants a ton of people on Origin prior to BF3. As Origin is the only DD location for SWTOR they will use it to build up a bunch of Origin users before BF3 releases.

Don't be surprised if the release date is the big announcement at PAX.

Aside from the server issues you just highlighted my favorite aspect of all MMO's. I vividly remember running around the Undead starting zone during WoW launch. Heh, shit is fun man.

It's definitely better than running around when there's no one.

I used to love new servers in WoW because it was one of the few times you felt like you were playing an MMORPG.

I'm fairly certain TOR will see a 2011 release. This thing has been pushed back too often to be delayed once again.

Especially the way Bioware handled the release date on E3 doesn't allow for yet another delay. Their hard "It's coming in 2011" policy was harsh enough to begin with, if they're not going to make that again it'll be quite the marketing catastrophy.

Outside of the fact that beta testers probably know a lot more than I do, they probably don't know a whole lot themselves either.
Bioware probably plays a build that's a lot fresher than the one they let their betatesters play.

I'd like to think that Bioware will release this thing "once it's done and polished" but at this point I don't they can anymore. They will say they came up with the product they wanted and release it, even when it isn't done in their eyes. Tweaking and polishing is a constant process in MMO's, it's partly why you're paying the monthly fee.

If Bioware were to push the release of this game back again it would create a lot of bad blood. Fans would lose faith in the publishers ability to stick to promises made. I'm certain Bioware would rather release this thing in 2011 and tweak some major problems post launch than risking a 2012 launch.

Literally no one has suggested it would be delayed to 2012.

And the game was pushed back a grand total of once.

You're starting to become a bit of sour man arent you, all the staccato replies are starting to become boring.

I thought we had two delays. One for a late 2010 release and one for a first half of 2011, but ofcourse I can be wrong. Since this is a forum I thought discussing the probability of a 2012 release date wouldn't do too much harm, obviously you think differently.

There never was a release date given, just speculation. Only time frame that was stated by anyone at Bioware was around spring 2011.
