I might as well throw it out there for a buddy key. Come on mang! I'm one of the top contributors to the giantbomb TOR page. That counts as something...right?

Why not contact any of the Bioware community peeps to see if they'll give you one for the contributions you've done? I'm sure they'll be happy to considering the time you put in to help bring word of mouth about it and keeping people up to date (it's a good page too).

Guys, we all gotta wait patiently to get into beta. And no, there are no buddy keys atm. Just be patient! Some of us have been waiting for almost 3 years already!

Just wait until the GAF OT. If I can find someone who is good at photoshop(because I suck), and if I get to make it, it'll blow your mind.

I did all the planets, flashpoints, companions, starships and E3 info on the GB page. Maybe I will ask one of the bioware folk, although I hate the idea of begging for beta keys...I might do it for this though.

Give me a PM, I'm good at Photoshop (CS5 user here) and been doing graphics and manipulation for many years (I'm doing the Operation Raccoon City OT when it comes) so I'm happy to lend a hand to you and smash heads together for some good creative thinking :)

There shouldn't be an nda in the first place imo
I like the way you think. Maybe only allow people to talk openly about the process on the official forum and disallow spoilers without warning tags. For the most part I think people understand beta is not open release so bugs will be fairly plentiful and mechanics are still being tested.
As bonus we wouldn't have the cock-teasing that goes on periodically in this thread. Stuff like I am in beta and if you knew what I knew then you would_______, but I respect the nda so I not going to tell you.

The biggest reason for an NDA, even if the game is good is because people are stupid. Say it's dropped now, say like there's some very obvious bugs going around. People will see this and pretty much say HURRR DURRR THIS GAME IS A POS, WoW DOESN'T HAVE ANY BUGS HURRRRRR. This is to save their own asses so there's no need to defend the game from retards who don't understand game development and this is ESPECIALLY worse in the MMO genre.

i signed up for the beta DAY 1 of it annoucemnt using 3 email's an i haven't had 1 reply yet, not a single one. Despite 2 of my mates getting into it at the same time.

Just made it official on our guildpage:

NeoGAF is now going PvP on the european servers. After a couple of days voting we had a pretty unanimous vote for going PvP.

If you want to hop on your speeder and slaughter some empire scum along the way; look no further... NeoGAF is going PvP!

17 and counting!

Well, I hate to beg, but I must. I'm just too excited.

If anyone comes up with a spare, I happily put it to good use.

I've been hesitant to believe it though.

Thumbs up! Not surprising, considering all guildies who voiced their opinions wanted to go PvP ;d

It's been confirmed on the cake that a FEW testers will be able to invite their friends.

So don't beg too much.

So I just started reading up on this game.

What the fuck? This sounds hugely ambitious. Are they on the right track to delivering all of this content, or are they biting off more than they can chew?

Hmm...I'll take that as a bad thing.

Just reading about this though, I had no idea they were being as ambitious as they are.
Your avatars are really similar. They both have red outlines. I never pay attention to people's usernames, only their avatars so I was confused.

There's no reason to doubt any of it because story/voice acting/presentation are their biggest draw. They've already proven that they're delivering on it in a big way and a developer simply can't afford to screw up their biggest feature. Recent leaks have shown that Bioware has nailed the storytelling aspect and that you'll actually pay attention and care about what is being presented to you, even side quests.

Whoever gets me a beta key decides!

It would seem that these invites are player based. A very small fraction by the sounds of it. So it's nothing big in terms of invites. So in the end, if you have friends who get it, consider themselves very lucky.

In my experience, there's no such thing as luck.

Sigh. I will beg like the dirty filty dog that I am.

I really want to give actual feedback to the devs on what problems there are instead of just guessing.

Yeah, I know I won't be getting a friend key this time around, so don't bother asking me.

As part of the Game Testing program we're doing various events. One event, designed to test Guild functionality, offered an incentive for getting involved - the possibility of an extra invite granted as a 'plus one'. This is a one-off event.

The number of invites issued through this incentive will be small, and those who receive the ability to invite others will be randomly selected. In comparison to the total number of people in Game Testing, it will be a tiny fraction.

There is no general 'invite a friend' program as part of Game Testing, and nothing is currently planned along those lines. Invites are continuing to be sent randomly to those who have opted in to test.

As a reminder, anyone who is part of the Game Testing program is bound by the terms of the Game Testing Agreement. As such, you are allowed to tell the world that you are in testing, and that's all.

We'll be closing this thread to stop further speculation and will close further threads on the same topic without notice.

I would assume that it was just to players who were known to be members of big MMO guilds. Most companies do that during testing to both test guild functionality and hopefully lure big guilds to the game.

Maybe we should just write poems to Bioware employees who peruse this thread in hopes of getting beta keys.

Something to show our devotion, unconditional love, and our willingness for them to do with our bodies as they please.

A post in the beta forums says, "Only a few lucky people who participated in the event today will be randomly selected to receive an additional invitation. We do not currently plan on allowing every tester an additional invitation."

Don't get your hopes up guys. BioWare is being really stingy with this game.

When you spend 775 million on a game, you get protective.

Yea this is bugging me. I'm starting to think it's not going to be ready for a long while so that's why their limiting the number of players.

Oh apparently it was random and only during the guild test thing. They RANDOMLY picked some people to get a buddy key as a reward for jumping into the test, some idiot thought everyone was getting keys, and spread it as a rumor on twitter. Then everyone went nuts and BioWare went into damage control.

Not so much that, but I think they don't want people spoiling the story arcs. I wouldn't be surprised if they keep the NDA in force until the release date is announced at PAX Prime.

It's being released in 2011 folks, Rockjaw reiterated that on twitter today.

They'll announce the October release at PAX Prime.

And before anyone says that PAX Prime is in September and it's too late to announce an October release date there, that's EA's intention. The release date is set, and has been set since E3, and they are just keeping it a secret because they don't want Blizzard spoiling their fun. John Riccitiello said so at E3 when asked why they haven't released the date:

http://www.computerandvideogames.co...release-date-would-play-into-blizzards-hands/

“One, the competitive marketplace. Putting a window out there creates a window of opportunity for our principal competitor to put out an expansion pack or an ad campaign etcetera around out launch window. Bad move at this point in time.”

Well if you and everyone else is so sure it's coming out in October, why wouldn't Blizzard be?

I really really hope it does come out in october. But this points to no open beta. Not that I need one personally, Im sold a million times over but that is highly unusual for an mmo.

Most retailers have it pegged for October 4th. The leaked Origin release schedule places it BEFORE Battlefield 3, which is the end of October.

And I'm pretty sure Blizzard is well aware of it too. I wouldn't be surprised to see 4.3 with the War of the Ancients raid to release in WoW right towards the end of September or the week of October 4th.

It's a secret to nobody! And common sense. October seems the perfect time. They don't want it out in bloody November thats for sure.
